So Say We All: YOUR Take on TUESDAY Night TV

September 26, 2007 by

GMMR: So Say We AllOnce again it’s your time to weight in on the new Tuesday night fall lineup. Did you catch the premiere of REAPER? What about CANE? Will either be added to your personal Fall schedule or do you need a few more episodes until you make that important decision?

And what about the old but new again shows that premiered last night? Tell me you loved HOUSE as much as I did?! I’m not sure Dr. Gregory House needs a team. I mean with all the janitors, cafeteria workers, and electricians around I think he’ll be just fine. I think last night was perhaps my favorite episode of HOUSE ever. Torturing Wilson by threatening to erase his TiVo? Awesome!!

I caught just a bit of DANCING WITH THE STARS last night, but only when I was flipping through the stations (once again I beg that hotels start offering in-room DVRs). That Cameron Matheson guy is hot and I expect him to go far based on the fervor of soap opera fans alone (we do remember Kelly Monaco’s big win in S1, right?). And how about that model…I think his name was Albert? I love that he’s qualifying as a “star” these days….what does it take? He had the pelvic action going on so much so that I don’t remember seeing him dance much. I can’t say that I’ll be watching this season (no time) but I like to check in every once in a while. Team Jennie Garth!!!

Although we don’t chat about these shows much on GMMR, feel free to talk about BONES, NCIS, Law & Order: SVU, BOSTON LEGAL or any of the other shows you watched last night. Just because I don’t talk about it doesn’t mean you can’t.

P.S. Leave a comment and let me know how you feel about keeping a daily “So Say We All”post where you can talk about all the shows from the previous night?  It’s something I thought I would try out as I wanted a forum where you all could share your opinions…even if the show isn’t covered on GMMR. Keep it or ditch it?  Be honest.

I LOVED the House season opener…I almost cried I was laughing so hard when House was threatening to delete the season finale of the Spanish telenovela from Wilsons Tivo…haven’t we all been there!

Any other Bones lovers out there? I though last night was really good and very creepy. When that kid bit into the wax stick, I was totally freaked out, but even more so at the thought that there are more cannibals terrorizing DC. I think it will be a good season 🙂

And by the way, I like the So Say We All posts!

I missed the beginning of Reaper, but caught the last half of it and thought it was pretty good. I like the actor who played Sam, he was awesome in the Loop. Too bad that show was cut short.

  4. Ellen on September 26th, 2007 9:13 am

I watched Reaper – it has potential. I added a Season Pass on the Tivo. 🙂

It has an entertaining premise (chasing escapees from Hell) and doesn’t wander off to far into melodrama I will be happy.

I also liked the little twist where he gets a new vessel for every escapee, and that the DMV is actually Hell on Earth.

  5. Becky on September 26th, 2007 9:22 am

I watched Bones & House. I love Bones. I was also creeped out by the cannibal boy. And when he was describing the different flavors of human flesh, got a little naseous. Especially the baby. So, I’m good with him getting a dagger stuck through his chest. I like the season long mystery that they’ve set up here, too. Also loved the Booth and Bones interactions, especially Booth thinking she was mad at him. And then at the end, with the they’re the center and the center must hold. i just love them.

I liked House, too. Towards the end, the weather was acting wrong and I missed some that I wished I hadn’t. But, I loved him sending the janitor in to get their permission to do dialysis. But, overall, I hated it for the boy cause he did know his girlfriend that well. And then he wasn’t with her at the end, that other man was whose wife it turns out is alive. i just fell overall awful for him. I really enjoyed the Wilson and House kidnappings and terrorist tactics. They’re funny.

I may have gone on and on. I didn’t add any shows to my Tuesday night. These two I had last year and will keep this year. Creature of habit, I guess.

  6. Kilynn on September 26th, 2007 9:22 am

I’m liking these So Say We All posts, GMMR. Its a good way for me to find out whether a show is any good without having to actually watch it first. There’s nothing I hate more than wasting an hour of my life on a show that turns out to be horrendous.

By the way, I had never seen an episode of House before last night and I absolutely loved. The whole thing with Wilson kidnapping the guitar was hilarious. And I think watching House try to put together a new team is going to be quite entertaining.

Carly, I’m a huge Bones fan as well and I was not disappointed by the premier. I thought that all of the Booth & Bones parts were especially adorable and the whole cannibal thing just creeped me right out. My only complaint the whole episode was, Why don’t they bring back Zach Addy? And then, they did! I’m all kinds of pumped for the rest of the season!

I have to say that I like these So Say We All sections. I’m often slow to new shows and this gives me a good place to look to see others opinions. Unfortunately I was reliving those days long ago when Veronica Mars was on Tuesday nights by watching episodes from Season 1. I do think that I need one night of the week that is TV free and I think Tuesday may be it. I totally make up for it on Wednesday though! Overloading the TiVo-woo!

  8. carly f. (not same as above, ha) on September 26th, 2007 10:16 am

firstly, i just noticed that there are 2 carly f.’s (what are the chances)- so from now on, i’ll go by carly jaye (my middle name); is that okay Carly F.? haha this is too weird….ANYWAY- i watched reaper, beauty & the geek, dancing with the stars & a little big of the biggest loser last night. yes, i know that’s a lot, ha. i loved reaper, but that wasn’t surprising since i loved “loop,” which starred bret harrison as well. i’m also a big fan of beauty & the geek but my favorite episode is still to come because they haven’t done the makeovers yet. as for dancing with the stars, i’m a cameron mathison fan definitely, but then again, i have to support the soap stars, ha. i voted like a fiend for kelly first season, too, ha! however, i also love alec mazo, so i have to vote for him and josie. HOW DO GIRLS NOT LOVE HIM? ha- and then i also love cheryl burke, so by default, i have to vote for wayne, ha….oh, the conflicts!!

  9. carly jaye on September 26th, 2007 10:18 am

oh yeah- and i really like this “let’s hear from everyone” thing, so i vote to keep it :o)

  10. jenintx on September 26th, 2007 10:29 am

I don’t have tivo, so I had to party like it was 1989 in my house, taping ‘Reaper’ while watching ‘House’. I did like most of House, and I really liked the interaction between House and Wilson.(I like it when Wilson gets to be funny, mostly he just gets to be incredulous and morally outraged, like you’ve known H for how long?) and I didn’t even miss the team as much as I would’ve thought. It wasn’t perfect, but decent.

I was a little underwhelmed by Reaper actually. I like Sam(or at least Bret Harrison) but his best friend kinda bugs. And I thought they went for the cheap laughs a little too much(a la ‘that’s not too gay at all’). Ray Wise is a badass, but I think I would back away slowly if I met him in real life(I watched ‘Twin Peaks’ at an impressionable age, and Wise as Leland Palmer…egads) Also, I loooved seeing the devil lady at the DMV(Delores Herbig from ‘Dead Like Me’…I still miss that show) Anyway, the premise is still enough to keep me into a few more episodes, but I hope the humor improves, and they round out the characters more(especially the female ones)

  11. mg714 on September 26th, 2007 10:37 am

I also like the So Say We All postings. Like Kilynn, it gives me a chance to see what others are watching to see if I should give a show a chance. I also like being able to talk about anything I watched last night even if there isn’t a separate post on the site about it.

Didn’t watch too many shows last night as I was watching the Cubs game (they lost! :() but I did catch part of House. I’ve never been a regular viewer of the show but I do love Hugh Laurie and I’d like to try to get into the show this season if I can. It sounds like the premiere was a good start and I wish I’d seen the whole thing. I taped Reaper so I still need to watch that and I only saw the ending of Dancing with the Stars. Tuesday looks like it might end up being a light TV viewing night for me, at least compared to the rest of the week.

  12. Mannie on September 26th, 2007 10:47 am

I liked Reaper, but I’m a huge Kevin Smith fan. I could definately feel his influence on that episode. Is that the only episode he’s involved in? Tuesday will be my VCR’s break night. There’s not much on Tuesday. I wish they’d move some of the shows around to make other nights not as hard to figure out.

  13. Carly F. on September 26th, 2007 10:49 am

Carly Jaye – that works for me…very strange that there are two of us!! Somehow I never noticed that before either. When I was young, I thought I was the only Carly in the world other than Carly Simon, but in the past few years, I’ve met so many!

  14. Beth on September 26th, 2007 10:49 am

Tuesday is for sure going to be the light tv night of the week…which is probably good- it will let me get some stuff done! Thanks to the one semester I lived at home with my parents I’m now a huge fan of Bones (they always were watching it so I joined in!)- the chemistry between Booth and Bones is so great to watch and they always have great story lines. I probably won’t make it a point to be there in front of the tv for it every week, but it will be dvr’d.

I’m slowly jumping on the House train, I’m just apprehensive to add another tv show…but what I’ve seen of it I love.

I also like this ‘so say we all’- i like hearing everyone else’s opinion, it helps me make a more informed decision!

  15. SB on September 26th, 2007 11:21 am

I watched Beauty and the Geek too–not as many outright bitches as last year (or did it just feel that way because of CeCe the bitchy juggernaut?), but still pretty great. And 3-6 Mafia was making some hilarious faces at the “rapping”. And I LOOOOOVE the boy beauty, not because I love him, but because he’s so incredibly douchetastic that he is my favorite thing ever to watch. Awesome.

Reaper was kind of eh for me, and I agree with most of what was said, but I feel like giving it a couple more watches to see where it goes. I liked how they started out making The Devil seem like an alright guy, but then you saw flashes of him being, well, The Devil, and that was awesome. And the Hell on Earth thing was really funny too. Between that, the sweet moment with the mom, and the glazed ham, it at least warrants a second chance for me.

  16. Patty on September 26th, 2007 11:37 am

I love the “so say we all thing” – I like your blog because I might stumble on to a show I have never watched before or give something a try that I might have blown off otherwise.

I loved Bones – creepy and gross. I love that Jack is all cleaned up and sexy. Yum!

I liked Reaper. Can’t wait to see where this will go. Maybe not appointment TV but I will watch. House I catch in reruns.

  17. Kristi on September 26th, 2007 12:18 pm

I love the “So Say We All” post everyday 🙂 I like to come and see what everyone thought about the things we watched last night.

I watched “Bones” and “House” and I’ve got to say that “House” was the best season premiere I’ve seen so far this year (granted there haven’t been that many and the Office isn’t ’til tomorrow) – it was a really good episode! I loved the deleting the TiVo as payback… man, that’s harsh! Totally didn’t see the twist at the end coming either and that’s what I like – to be shocked! “Bones” was pretty good as well… that canibal kid was a creeper and Bones and Booth are just adorable! I hope we’ll learn more about Zach and Iraq.. that should be interesting.

I’ve got Reaper on the TiVo so I will watch that sometime today.

  18. The Beckert on September 26th, 2007 12:40 pm

I was such a huge “Reaper” fan when I saw the pilot several weeks ago. I love its comedy. I love Sock, the Devil, Sam, pretty much everybody. It was my second favorite new fall show.

But I rewatched the pilot live on TV last night, and they recast the role of Andi. To say I was pissed off is an understatement. The new actress has no chemistry with Bret, and her scenes just didn’t feel right. When I first saw the pilot, I was really loving the Sam/Andi love story potential. Now I can’t see that happening at all. The recasting of Andi almost makes me want to stop watching Reaper – even though it was one of the shows I was most looking forward to. I’ll still give it a shot and watch a few more episodes, but I’m still utterly disappointed.

  19. Carlict on September 26th, 2007 12:45 pm

    I Carli with an i 🙂

Anyway, I watched Reaper and liked it. I’ll definitely check it out again. I recorded DWTS. They have some guys on there that I’m curious about how well they’ll do this year. What the heck did I watch at 8…oh, Beauty and the Geek. I like the male beauty too. He’s so awesome…in a superficial, weight lifting kind of way. I’m not sure I like that he’s an actor though. Then I watched Damages at 10. Glenn Close in that scene at her beach house…Emmy!

  20. Mannie on September 26th, 2007 1:23 pm

I watched Beauty and The Geek too. Does that one geek look exactly like Richard to anyone else, or is it just me? I don’t think the guy beauty is all that hot. Maybe it’s the faces he makes or something. I also wonder if the camera people made the one geek go inside the house and “catch” the beauties spying on who were going to be the two teams to go to elimination. After they put the first team up, I had a feeling they were going to put the other beauty’s team up as well. The stuff Amanda said to Tony at the end was very sweet.

  21. DarthMom on September 26th, 2007 1:39 pm

I watched Reaper — I thought it was really good! The Beckert (post#20) — Do you know who the actress was that played Andi before they recast it? I’m just curious. After Reaper, I watched the Basketball episode from Season 1 of The Office on TBS — hilarious, of course!

  22. CFO (not my initials) on September 26th, 2007 3:39 pm

I watched Reaper last night. It was fun! I was actually really impressed that they tried to address issues like “Why would his parents do that?” or “Why doesn’t he just refuse?” and give some logical answers (blackmail, mostly). It made it seem just a bit more believable that he didn’t have a choice because he loves his mom. The pilot was a teensy bit rough, but definitely full of potential. And since I didn’t see anything else of interest on Tuesday nights, this will be my main Must Watch. (I always have to record House so that I can fast forward through any gross scenes :D)

  23. Emily on September 26th, 2007 4:12 pm

NCIS – YOWZA! I only watched part of the episodes from last season (same times as GG:(), and so I missed some of the plot bunnies, but they were quickly brought out into the open and WOW. My mind was blown. I was SO glad I had it recorded so I could fastforward through those pesky commercials.

Bones – I love this show. The beginning – skull in windsheild. So neat. And Bones/Booth. I am still not sold on Angela/Hodgins, it bugs me, a lot. But oh well. Zack is back.

House – I never thought it possible, but I didn’t miss the team. I loved the episode. Was awesome all around.

  24. The Beckert on September 26th, 2007 7:39 pm

    DarthMom,
The actress that orginally played Andi was Nikki Reed.
