So Say We All: YOUR Take on Last Night’s TV

September 27, 2007 by

Based on the comments received, it seems that “So Say We All” will be a permanent fixture around these parts. I’m really excited to hear that you like the new format because as much as I love writing about TV I also love talking about it with all of you. I know I haven’t been writing a ton the past few days but things will get back to normal once I’m back on the East Coast. I promise.

So let’s get to it. Wednesday night was a BIG night for some of the most buzzed about new shows. So let’s dish…what did you think of PRIVATE PRACTICE, DIRTY SEXY MONEY and LIFE? Of course there was also the premiere of BIONIC WOMAN but that show is getting it’s own post for you to discuss in just a little bit.

What did you watch? Anything make an impression (good or bad)?

And of course feel free to dish on the other shows of the evening like GOSSIP GIRL (which I totally missed since I was out tonight…I’m dying), KID NATION, TOP MODEL…so much to chat about.

Happy Office Thursday to you too! I really really enjoyed Private Practice. It felt like the old Grey’s, but without the dark side. I was really nice to see Piz and Paul Kellerman again! I have to say that I preferred Merrin Dungey to Audra MacDonald, and while watching it was wondering why it really was re-cast. Maybe I’ll get over that, maybe I wont?

Gossip Girl, the second episode was the first one I saw. I liked it too. I agree it was a little too 90210, but it still had me hooked for the whole hour. So I’ll tune in a few more times.

I also watched Bionic Woman for the first time. WOW! What a jam packed hour! It was so fast paced, sometimes I didn’t know what was going on. But I liked it a lot, and I’ll keep watching it. I really like the main actor – Jaime Sommers. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Happy Office Thursday!

I watched Private Practice and Dirty, Sexy, Money last night.

Private Practice was pretty good. I think it will get better as the show continues. But, I think it has a really good start and I intend to continue watching it.

I enjoyed DSM sooooo much more than I expected. I really thought they did a great job with it. Plus, I really like Peter Krause so that helps. It was really funny and I intend to watch it next week too.

Now I just can’t wait to watch The Office and Grey’s Anatomy tonight!

I watched Criminal Minds and DSM and taped Private Practice, Bionic Woman, DSM (just in case I missed anything, boy am I glad I did), Gossip Girl and Life. I knew I wouldn’t miss anything on Criminal Minds. I know not many people watch that show, but I like it. I like to see if I can figure out who the bad guy is. DSM was great. That one actress who played Juliet looked just like Renee Zellweger when she told the reporter he was poor. And was that reporter played by Edward Norton? I think I’ll like this show.

I watched Criminal Minds and CSI:NY… and I don’t know if anyone else here likes those shows, but I love them and these episodes just made me happy!
New weird opening credits for NY though, and that, not so much happy.

Wednesday nights are my full nights of TV. my TiVo records 2 shows for 3 straight hours. it’s absurd.. ANTM was good. I’m not all that sad at who went home. I’m not a fan of Bianca and I’m totally on Team Lisa in that dispute. I also think they are stringing Heather along because she would never be able to book a show or shoot if she walked in the way she does. I do give her all the credit in the world though, I like her.

I’m really enjoying Kid Nation. I totally think that we underestimate kids. I really think they should have had two abandoned cities- one for adults and one for kids- so that it would be an interesting comparison. I’m rooting for each and every one of those kids. And kudos to the council (Taylor needs to be replaced, she’s a horrible leader) for choosing Michael to win the star over Greg.

Next up was Gossip Girl. It’s amazing how the show is edited so that you feel sorry for Sabrina and hate Blair even though Blair was the one that was wronged in the entire situation. Its a really good escape from reality for me. ๐Ÿ˜›

Private Practice was really good. I enjoyed it. The whole scene at the end with Kellerman (sorry, had to! PB love!) and Violet was so heartbreaking- i loved it. they did a great job. I wasnt the biggest fan of Addison on Greys, but I think that i’ll follow her escapades in LA. And Chris Lowell looks so adorable with his haircut.. I missed him!

I watched Dirty Sexy Money last night and was kind of intrigued. I liked it, I guess, but wasn’t blown away or anything. I’ll give it a couple more chances. I just don’t see how it can turn into a regular, weekly series when so much happened to every single character last night. Might be overkill.

I have to say I am loving Gossip Girl! I wasn’t a fan of the OC so I almost didn’t give this a chance but I’m so glad I did. My teenage years were so boring compared to these poor (rich) kids ๐Ÿ™‚

I also checked out Life which I was really looking forward to. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed by it. The premise is good but the lead actor whom I’ve loved in other things is just too much of weirdo in this show. I understand you would be changed after spending so much time in prison but it’s like he had a lobotomy or something. Everything else about the show was good but he is the main character so it’s a little hard to look past how strange he is and enjoy the show. I’m not sure if I’ll stick with it but I’ll give it a few more weeks before deciding.

I only caught Dirty Sexy Money and Bionic Woman last night. I’m trying to keep the tv watching to minimal levels until I hear whether a show is really worth it (ie Private Practice).

I did like DSM, though I couldn’t keep my full attention on it, and the pace was so fast I felt like I missed alot. I was pretty impressed with the cast though. Lot of big name talent there. And there is my own biased, wherein I am kinda getting tired of all these shows about rich people. Are these the only people who are interesting in America anymore? I don’t think so. But I’ll try to look beyond this and get into it, if only for Peter Krause. I’ll wait till the Bionic post to get in BW.

I stuck with the ABC line up for live viewing, but I taped Bionic Woman and Life to watch later today or tomorrow. I was pleasantly surprised by Private Practice, after hearing some negative things about it. It definitely made me cry, which is my favorite part of a Shonda Rhimes show, so I’ll be tuning in next week! I also liked DSM just as much as you said I would, although I’m a huge Peter Krause fan from way back in his Sports Night days, so I knew I would.

Wish I could squeeze in Gossip Girl too, but Wednesdays are just too packed! Especially once Pushing Daisies starts next week.

  11. Sarah on September 27th, 2007 10:59 am

I really tried to watch DSM, because I love Peter Krause from Sports Night and Six Feet Under. I only got about 10, 15 minutes in, though. Everything just felt so forced. I really didn’t like it, which is disappointing, because I was kind of looking forward to it.

Who cares about last night, for the first time since may, IT’S OFFICE THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Becky on September 27th, 2007 11:25 am

I’m having trouble recalling last night’s TV also – I keep thinking we’re going to find out about that date ๐Ÿ˜‰

I watched Bionic Woman and Life. They were both just ok. I will watch again next week. Bionic Woman felt like a lot in there. And Life was good, it’s just that on occasion the main character disturbed me with the way he talked. Mostly it was fine and then WHAM why are you talking like that?

I have Gossip Girl in the DVR and maybe will get a chance to watch that when I get home. Next week I’m adding Pushing Daisies so I may have to start getting rid of some of this stuff.

Tonight it is Earl & the Office for me. I’m literally (okay not really literally) jumping out of my skin about this.

Well, I will tell you. As faithful as I am to my networks, I stray on Wednesdays to the Sci-Fi channel. The season premiere of the Ghost Hunters, and revived show Haunted from 2002. Both were great. I saw the Bionic Woman on-demand on Comcast last week, so I will be TVIOing it too watch before MNIE and TO.

Good season of new shows I will say. So excited that it is Thursday.

Office Thursday! Office Thursday! Office Thursday! *pounds fists on desk*

    It’s all I can think about…

  16. Kristi on September 27th, 2007 12:03 pm

I think Wednesday’s will be my least anticipated nights (at least until “Lost” and “One Tree Hill” come back). “Private Practice” was good but not great.. I’m looking forward to more Piz though! I haven’t watched “Gossip Girl” yet, it’s on the TiVo. Now, I did not know that Peter Krause was in DSM so now I have to download that and watch it even though I really really didn’t want to!

  17. Patty on September 27th, 2007 1:27 pm

I guess I am the only one that’s going to watch CSI to see if Sara lives? Next week? Supernatural! I started watching The Office on DVD but am only on S1 so I have a ways to go. And I will be watching DSM again.

  18. Jenn on September 27th, 2007 6:14 pm

Private Practice was…ok. I love all the actors on it, so I’m willing to give it more time. Like everyone else, I’m questioning the recast of the Naomi role too. Was there really a need?

Have Gossip Girl and DSM on my DVR.

Saw Life a week ago, it entertained me more than I expected. I liked the main guy’s quirkiness. I don’t know if that’ll be something that is still interesting a few more eps in or just become grating.

  19. I love JAM on September 29th, 2007 3:07 am

I saw Life…LOVED it! My favorite new show so far. Only watched because of the guy from Band of Brothers. Loved how animated he is and his partner is screwed up too. Can’t wait to see the clues as to who set him up. Love a good mystery and we’ll see what crazy stuff he does with his $50 mil. settlement.

Private Practice really disappointed after last May’s good episode. I was super excited to see “Sark” and “Francie” from Alias and now they’re nowhere to be seen (although I hear Sark is on Lost or some other giant show and everyone knows about Merrin). I love Amy B. but didn’t get why her character is just a b###h??? And the way she was written…I really don’t care to know. Why does everyone hate Addison being there? And Addison did NOT have a big finish to her speech and Audra’s “THAT’s why I didn’t tell you…” went nowhere for me. It didn’t mean anything. I may give it one more chance. I will just stick to Greys.

I loved when they showed the episode back in May that all the Seattle shots were drab and grey/white, then all the LA shots were very colorful and fun.

But allllll pales in comparison to the OFFICE! Long live JAM!!!!!! RIP Sprinkles ๐Ÿ™
