ALIENS IN AMERICA Premiere Tonight - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

ALIENS IN AMERICA Premiere Tonight

October 1, 2007 by

My apologies for being a flake this morning and forgetting to mention that tonight is the series premiere of ALIENS IN AMERICA on The CW at 8:30pm tonight. One of the networks most promising new shows, I really liked the pilot. Here’s an excerpt from my Fall preview that I posted a few weeks ago.

A surprisingly heartwarming comedy that is sweet, a tad bit snarky and over the top (in a good way) all at the same time. Dan Byrd masters the awkwardness of a teenage outcast and seems almost normal especially considering the mother that raised him. The show is a little non-PC at times, but I found it funny and refreshing – especially coming from The CW. My one concern is the recasting of the father, once played by Patrick Breen and now played by Scott Patterson of Gilmore Girls fame. Breen fit in perfectly as the quirky and unusual father, Gary, and I just can’t see Patterson bringing the same goofiness to the role. Then again, I only know him as Luke Danes so maybe I’m not giving him enough credit. Cheers to The CW for bringing this fresh comedy to the air.   Click here for more on my take on ALIENS IN AMERICA.

I’m not the only one who really enjoyed this show.  For a fantastic review of the first episode (by a real writer and not a schmuck like me) check out this great review by one of my favorite TV writers, MeeVee Editor, Joel Brown: “Aliens in America Rocks the Fatwa

On your recommendation, GMMR, I gave this a try and then just this morning noticed Joel’s review. He and I tend to have the same TV tastes.

Anyway, I liked it a lot. I fell in love with both of the boys, especially Raja – what an expressive face he has. This is really promising. And yeah, I didn’t go nuts for Scott P. as the dad but I miss me some GG so it’s good to have a bit of my Luke back 🙂
