Really?!? with GMMR

October 8, 2007 by

Really Saturday Night Live…you’ve got a full week to come up with sketches for a live show and that’s the best you could do?  Really? You’ve got amazingly talented people like Samberg, Sudekis, Poehler, Hader, Rudolph, Wiig among others, and you still manage to NOT make me laugh? Really. We’ve seen Studio 60 and 30 Rock and know that many sketches are cut each week for time, but you all insist on dragging out each sketch until you beat the funny out of it, now really, couldn’t you chop the length of some of the unfunny and add a new few sketches in?  Really.  Do I really have to cross my fingers in the hopes that Andy Samberg will have a digital short just so I can laugh one time during the hour and a half?  Really.  Oh and do you really think by showing countless variations of the MacGruber sketch it will get funnier?  Yeah, it won’t…really.

Saturday Night Live you are a living legend and I’m not going away anytime soon, but really, would it kill you to make me laugh? Really.

Here’s the few times I laughed during the 90-minute show this weekend.

I’m with ya, Kath. Weekend update is about it as far as consistently funny.

My brother was at the live taping of this weeks SNL and thought most of the skits fell flat. He was extremely disappointed, especially since you don’t know beforehand who’s going to host when you buy the tickets. When he found out it was Seth Rogen he was over the moon…until he actually hosted that is.

Yeah, I kinda gave up on SNL a few years ago, and now I just wait for the actually funny stuff to hit the internet.

I have given up on SNL, and haven’t watched for quite some time. The only reason I tune in sometimes is for the bands. I saw the clip of Spoon this week and thought they were great… 😀

I wish they would take more of the skits in the direction of the Digital Shorts. Having the opportunity to pre-tape and edit a variety of scenes really does make them more entertaining than the typical four minute live bits that are just dialogue and gross-out gags. Yes, that is historically the core of SNL… but it’s just not getting laughs anymore. I also wish the hosts would be more impressive… Next week is Bon Jovi… I enjoy his music, but why have him host a comedy show??? I don’t think it will be particularly funny…

I thought it was just me since I didn’t really care for the show when Rainn Wilson hosted. I think you captured all the funny.

i completely agree with this! I was so stoked because seth rogen was hosting and couldnt want to see a new digital short. I was so upset, the commercials were so long and between every other sketch, seth was like in three sketches, this is ridiculous. & the weekend update was like a half hour long, which i like weekend update but half hour long? jeez. I have never been this upset over SNL in quite a long time. & next week jon bon jovi is hosting, no offence i love him.. but whats with that?
