THE OFFICE Thursday on Give Me My Remote (Well, Kinda)

October 25, 2007 by

Sorry I don’t have any time for a real OFFICE Thursday today. Just a reminder that the show is on tonight and it returns to its half hour format (like you’d forget). Sadly I’m going to TiVo THE OFFICE and watch it in the morning. WOW…I can’t believe I just typed that. Just goes to show what an important event the World Series is, because I don’t miss THE OFFICE for just anything.

Late Night Chit Chat…

  • A repeat of John Krasinski’s last visit with Conan will be replayed on tonight

Tonight on THE OFFICE…
The Office: Money“Local Ad” | 9pm on NBC
When the Scranton office is tapped to appear in a commercial, entertainer wannabe Michael sees a prime chance to display his creative talent. Meanwhile, Dwight delves into an Internet-based virtual world. (Promo Photos | Scenes from tonight’s episode)

The Office Convention…
The Office ConventionTHE OFFICE convention is this weekend and it still has set in that I’m going to be missing it. I’m sure you will all have such a blast. Know that I’m there with you in spirit. If you’re attending this weekend, leave a comment and let me know. Also, for all of you who are attending, keep me filled in as to what’s going on. Share your stories with me and others throughout the weekend here: TALES FROM THE OFFICE CONVENTION

LIVE Office Chat Tonight…

Yes Virginia, there IS a Live Office Chat at Buddy TV tonight. I won’t be there, but long time chatter, Psappy, has kindly agreed to handle things tonight. Be kind to her. Time: 8:30pm EST. Place: BuddyTV.com Yup, our crew will once again be gathering to watch THE OFFICE together tonight. If you’d like to join us, we’d love to have you. Casual attired please. And if you’ve got booze bring it along (unless of course you are a minor and in that case bring apple juice). Hope to see you guys there tonight. Set a reminder now! ( GMMR’s/THE OFFICE TVj sessions @ Buddy TV)

THE OFFICE Poll of the Week…
This one is not easy, but I think you can handle it. Name your ONE favorite all time favorite episode of THE OFFICE. Defend your ep to others…let them know why you chose it. I know it’s not easy!

I’ll go first. Although mine changes from week-to-week, I’d say my all time favorite episode is “Diversity Day”. I wasn’t thrilled with the pilot and had no plans on watching this show after the first episode. By chance the next week THE OFFICE came on the TV and I decided just to leave it on. I was floored at how good it was and I haven’t missed an episode since.

My favorite Office episode is “Drug Testing”. I think that the episode shows off each character perfectly and I love the game of jinx between Pam and Jim. I was already a fan of the show by the time this episode came around, but after watching this episode The Office became my favorite show on tv. This is the show I go back and watch whenever I am in the mood to watch an old episode (which is always).

I AM GOING TO THE CONVENTION! I will definitely be excited enough for me, as well as all the wonderful people who I know can’t make it.

I plan on taking pictures practically every waking minute 🙂

My favorite episode ever is The Injury. I nearly died laughing the first time I ever saw it. “You can’t fire me! I don’t work in this van!” Probably at least 50 viewings later, I still am in love with it, every time. It is the episode I use to convert people to the show, because you don’t need to know anyone’s back story to understand any of it. It is just pure funny.

We’ll miss you at the convention, Kath!

Thanks for another installment of The Office Thurs. (even if it is a bit abridged).

I’ll be at the convention, but we are only going on Sunday. I’ll still fill you in if anything exciting happens.

My all time fav episode is Healthcare and it stands unchallenged, as my favorite, to this day. It was the first episode I ever saw, I stumbled upon it by accident and I was hooked ever since. I love the made-up diseases, the “I’m the lion, you’re dead.” quote (I even have it on my mouse pad at work). The conference room scene with Dwight listing off the diseases cracks me up every time, especially Kevin’s. Jim locking Dwight in the conference room and the look on his face as he chucks the keys never gets old. Michael is classic trying to get in his employees good graces and all he can come up with are ice cream sandwiches. And of course, since I’m a health benefits administrator by trade, I most related to this topic as it’s usually a sore spot in all offices. Even with all the funny stuff, it was completely believable.

“The Injury.” Laugh for laugh, it’s the hands-down winner for me. Let’s review…

    He GRILLED his FOOT.
    Jim popping the “cast”
    “Huggy hugs!”
Jim spraying Michael and Dwight with a water bottle.
“You can’t fire me, I don’t work in this van!”
    “Danger.”
Michael trying to stick his foot in the CAT scan machine

    Too, too funny.

Thanks to Psappy for doing the honors tonight. My love for the Sox and The Office means I’m going to time slice tonight and do both so will watch the show with the gang and go back to the Sox thereafter.

Favorite all time for me wavers but I have to go with The Dundies. FNB first started to shine that night and it is the occasion of the first JAM kiss. Plus we were given the long-lasting gifts of monikers like Hottest in the Office, Bushiest Beaver, and Spicy Curry. My most prized possession, well sort of, is my very own Dundie from the S3 DVD. Second behind it is The Injury – the spritzer still slays me every time.

My favorite is Conflict Resolution. Both the drama and the comedy work perfectly for me in that episode. I love the different methods of conflict resolution and the win-win-win. The fight between Oscar and Angela about the baby poster is amazing. And that that scene at the end where Jim is going through his various pranks on Dwight which starts off funny and ends up being sad is just perfection.

  8. Psappy on October 25th, 2007 6:00 pm

My favorite Office episode of all time is “Health Care”. We get to see how the pranking minds of Jim/Pam work even better as a team, i.e. spontaneous dental hydroplosion, killer nanorobatic infection, count choculitis, we see one of the greatest Dwight TH’s of all time, “In the wilderness there is no health care…”, we see the first major cringeworthy scene, “I still have a vagina”, and we see Michael appeasing with ice cream sandwiches.

I’m going to the convention on Saturday, and I am sooo excited!

Email Surveillance is my all time favorite. I love the IT guy, Dwangela, improv (always start with a gun!), karaoke, and Pam at Jim’s *house*! In his *room*! On his *bed*! Oh, and how could I forget the adorable high school photo of Jim/John!

I really hope I meet Jennifer Celotta this weekend so I can tell her how much I love this episode. Or would that be too creepy?

  10. Andrea on October 25th, 2007 6:24 pm

I love “Traveling Salesmen/The Return” probably most of all. I know they are *technically* two episodes but they go so well together! It is fun to see them actually working for a change in “Salesmen” (and doing a good job at it too!) and then the sheer hilarity that is Andy losing his mind in “The Return.”

Also, there are some touching moments, such as Dwight silently hugging Jim and then walking away, and Jim’s one word that said oh-so-much to Karen: “Yes.”

Plus, it was cool to see a more sedate Michael Scott. Still oblivious, yes, but not his normal over-the-top self.

    Just delightful!

    THE INJURY!!!

  12. Andrea on October 25th, 2007 6:32 pm

    Phyllis Vance:

Re: Email Survelliance…did anyone else mention that the IT guy made both his appearances during two milestone Dwangela moments? First when they get together (or at least are discovered) and next when they encounter the issue that ultimately breaks them up. You could also say he is there for both the discovery of Dwight and Angela’s relationship and the discovery of Jim and Pam’s relationship. Kinda cute.

If this is like really old news I’m sorry for the repeat. It just now dawned on me. 🙂

  13. jenn on October 25th, 2007 6:47 pm

Drug testing, and I will be shameless and admit it’s all about John Krasinski. He amazes me time and again how his expressions speak volumes. To me, this is one of those episodes that spans the gammut of emotions and even though I’ve watched it MANY times, it still makes me feel and laugh. This show is gold!

A very close second: The Injury. “You can’t fire me, I don’t work in this van!” Classic.

  14. JK on October 25th, 2007 7:54 pm

“Take Your Daughter to Work Day” has always held a very special place in my heart. I just love the interactions between the main cast and the kids, and I’m a sucker for anything emotional concerning Michael. When I first read this question, “The Dundies” surprisingly came to my mind second. This is a fantastic episode and it has a great blend of humor and sadness. Plus, the first kiss between Jam and the great Elton John song at the end…How can you not love it?

  15. Ryan on October 25th, 2007 8:19 pm

Its tough but my favorite episode is Drug Testing. “I want to give him all the urine he needs.” Need I say more?

Dwight in his sheriff deputy’s uniform, Michael proving his hatred of drugs, little things with Ryan like deciding to go with Dwights hard way and wanting to work at the urinalisis lab, Creed’s in depth knowledge of pot, and Jim and Pam with some of their best moments.

Finally Jims line to end it says so much (at that time in the jam storyline) “…what is he getting out of that relationship?”

  16. Dianne on October 26th, 2007 1:17 am

Sure, it may sound silly, but DANG – my fave moment is the Casino Night kiss!
Still haven’t gotten over that one. Sigh.

  17. Kali on October 26th, 2007 6:27 am

My all time fav is The Injury. It was always my favorite, I don’t really know why. And when my roommate got a 3rd degree burn on her foot because she left the iron on the floor and then kicked it, well that just made the injury even funnier to me.

  18. Alexis on October 26th, 2007 9:27 am

Mine is “The Dundies.” Just classic. PB&J’s first kiss still gives me chills.

For those of you that are going to the convention this weekend, have fun!

So hard! (That’s what she said). I’ll go with Sexual Harrassment.
-Michael’s unshakeable belief that inappropriate email forwards are key to being a good boss
-Jim’s TH about Todd Packer’s joke (What has two thumbs and hates Todd Packer? This guy!)
    -James P. Albini
-Jim egging Michael on to break the moratorium on “That’s what she said” and Michael blowing kisses to the “fans” while being dragged away by Jan and the corporate lawyer
-the blow-up doll and Jim’s TH that he’s in an office relationship (with the blow-up doll)
-Michael’s TH on taking a bath with Pam and Pam’s reaction… So many hilarious moments.

Oops – sorry for the double post.

  22. Dean on October 26th, 2007 8:02 pm

My favorite is “Product Recall” Jim and Dwight’s impersonations of each other is awesome. Also the ungrateful biotch hotline. and Kevin being Australian and Kelly being British.

-Side note: i am going as 3 hole punch Jim for Halloween lol

  23. Toast with JAM on October 27th, 2007 3:35 am

As usual I post before reading others so I don’t get influenced and change my vote….so many choices!!!! But I have to go with…….BOOZE CRUISE

Some of the best looks from Jim and Pam (how they were both embarrased by their dates and teasing each other with their silent looks right in front of their oblivious partners).

    Roy–“You were a cheerleader!”

Jim–“Nah…” (like he would never date a cheerleader)

Hot Girl Katie–“Oh yeah!” (goes on to prove it to Jim by reciting a cheer–to his mortified face)..Pam jamming out to Katie’s cheer and staring down Jim 😉

the solid minute of JAM just BEING together outside and wanting to say the same thing to each other but both chickening out…

Jim saying he’d save the receptionist if the boat was going down…

and the awesomeness that is Michael Scott truly motivating Jim (when he tried so hard to motivate everybody during the whole cruise and failed miserably) by saying “BFD..engaged ain’t married. Never, NEVER give up.” and that look from Jim to Michael was PRICELESS, like, WOW, that really meant a lot to Jim to hear that.

plus lots of little things…Michael naming everybody as they boarded the boat from a Gilligans Island character (wasn’t Stanley a Globetrotter?)…Creed busting out a tune on the guitar…the guy jumping overboard when Michael said the boat was going down (funnier since the actor actually jumped out into the water)

OK, can’t wait to read what everybody else picked!

  24. Karen on October 27th, 2007 4:19 pm

This is so hard….but I’m going to have to say “The Secret.” I think it was one of the most well written episodes because it had so many different story lines going on at once, and they all flowed so seamlessly. So many secrets! Jim’s crush on Pam, Oscar faking sick, Oscar hiding the fact he was gay, Dwight and Angela’s romance….and the scene between Jim and Pam when he tells her that he used to have a crush on her, but he’s completely over it now…how excited she looks and then he just takes it all away. Sheer brilliance.

ties for a very close second- the job, booze cruise, the dundies, the merger, drug testing, email surveillance.
