What to Watch…Friday, November 16, 2007

November 16, 2007 by

So I’m trying to stay positive about the strike, and I have a suggestion for NBC (even thought I’m mad at you right now). Here’s what NBC needs to do…start re-airing FRIDAY NIGHT NIGHTS from the very beginning and promote the hell out of it. I mean, don’t fake promote it like you’ve done in the past, I’m talking a promotion like CHUCK had this season. You have more cash in your pocket since (a) you’re getting all that money from the internet ad sales and (b) you’re not paying any of the actors on your shows. Think about it, even though it may be a re-run it’s new to most people. It’s a win-win-win. A win for the network, a win for the writers (who will get paid in residuals) and a win for the new viewers who haven’t yet experienced the show.

Friday Night Lights | 9pm on NBC
Friday Night Lights“Pantherama”
Smash’s college recruitment officially begins; Matt is tempted by his grandma’s nurse even though he has a new girlfriend; Julie befriends a teacher; Lyla and Tyra work on an event together at Tami’s bidding.

Moonlight | 9pm on CBS
Moonlight“12:04am”
Mick tries to protect a woman from a murderous cult after its leader is executed and his followers vow to kill those responsible for his death.

I don’t know about you, but after last week’s big reveal that Coraline is back, I’ve found myself obsessing about this show all week. So much more into it than I thought I would be at the beginning of the season. Of course I’d like to see a little more Jason Dohring, but I’m happy enough just to see him every week. But if they really want to make me happy they could find a way to kill off Beth (sorry but Sophia Myles is just way too stiff and she comes across really false).

Take a quick look at a scene from tonight’s MOONLIGHT.

Also on…

  • Ghost Whisperer | 8pm on CBS
  • Men in Trees | 8pm on ABC
  • Women’s Murder Club | 9pm on NBC
  • Numb3rs | 10pm on ABC
  • Las Vegas | 10pm on NBC
  • Next Great American Band | 8pm on Fox

Hey GMMR: Reairing FNL is a great idea. I’ve seen bits and pieces of this show, and from what I’ve seen it’s great, but I’ve never started a show out of sequence (well except for VM, but that was an exception). I’m afraid of coming into this show too late and not know what is going on. I think if NBC started reairing this show from the beginning, I would totally start watching. I hope they do this!

Great idea GMMR…..the only positive thing with the strike is that I was hoping to catch up on some shows that I know I have been missing out on……I would def start watching it if they replayed it. I’m certainly not going to watch this season on NBC.com…so I need to catch up somehow. 🙂

GMMR – Reairing Friday Night Lights is EXACTLY what they should do, I agree with you 150%. Who do we call to make that happen? Argh, I wish it were that easy!!! But seriously, you’re absolutely right: they have a great program, they need to just keep showing it and promoting it, and as you and Michael Scott say, it’s a win-win-win. 😉

GMMR, we generally have the exact same TV boyfriends, so I am a little surprised that you haven’t mentioned much about Alex O’Loughlin on Moonlight. Granted, JD is awesome and I tuned into the show for him alone, but AO’L is so hot I can hardly handle it. The man does a smolder like no other. The fact that you actually met him makes me the most envious blog reader in the world.

I’m actually the opposite with the Moonlight gals! I love MickBeth and Coraline gets on my nerves. However, the whole reveal at the end has made me intrigued. I’m so anxious to find out how she’s alive and how she’s human (or found some way to make herself appear human to vampires at least). And I’m obsessed with Mick. The show is so addictive!

And I agree with you that they should rerun FNL. I’ve been wanting to watch it but don’t want to shell out the bucks for the DVDs when I don’t know if I’m going to like it.

Are you kidding me? Sophia’s the only reason I watch Moonlight! Well, that and Jason but he’s on so little so it’s almost like he doesn’t count.

I agree with you, Kimmy. Coraline is annoying and it’s not just because I hate Shannyn Sossamon with a burning passion.

I’m in the middle of the second episode of season 1 of FNL. I’m watching it online thanks to Netflix. Until NBC decides to follow GMMR’s excellent advice and re-air this show from the beginning, people who are interested in FNL (and who are Netflix subscribers) should definitely take advantage of the instant Netflix option! I’m usually pretty slow to adopt new hour-long dramas (I have the attention span of a two year old and usually stick to the 30-minute shows) but as GMMR has told us bunches of times, this one is TOTALLY WORTH IT.

(Umm…is watching it online but through Netflix as WGA-unfriendly as watching on nbc.com? I hope not.)
