So Say We All (Well at Least YOU): Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters

December 3, 2007 by

If you were lucky enough to watch last night’s episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES or BROTHERS & SISTERS and want to chat all about it, feel free.  Sadly (and I mean that sincerely) I wasn’t able to catch either as I was in a deep sleep by the time they aired here on the West Coast. With no TiVo, and unable to watch the shows online due to the writers strike, I’m left with nothing but your comments to let me know all about last night’s episodes.  So I guess it’s YOUR turn to be the blogger.  Fill me in!!

I don’t watch Brothers & Sisters, but Desperate Housewives was great. They killed off Gabby’s husband with a picket fence post through the chest. The crazy (or so we thought) woman who ruined Katherine & Nathan Fillion’s character (forgot his name…) was sucked up into a tornado. And they did have an affair after all, and Katherine found this out while trapped in a closet with Bree and Orson…awkward!!! But they might have ended up as friends after this episode. And then at the end, we see Lynette giving the blood curdling scream from the previews because the tornado destroyed the house that her hubby and kids were staying in (well the basement anyway). They got separated during the storm. We weren’t told if they all died or not, but I’m sure they didn’t.

It was a GREAT episode. I’d have big problems not watching it online if i were you. You’re a stronger woman than I!

Okay, we think Victor is dead on DH, but we were left with a cliffhanger that may contine through the strike. I was bother that Susan didn’t seem to care that Julie was in a tornado. Mike’s gone to rehab, Lynnette got seperated from Tom & the kids but the house they were in was destroyed. Bree and Katherine now seem to have made peace. The ugly lawn fountain must have been destroyed. Gabby and Edie made up and protected each other. Carlos was hit in the head, so we don’t know if he’s okay. Hunky Doc (aka Nathan Fillon) was a cheating dog, and his “affair” blew away.

On B&S, the wedding had all sorts of interruptions, which was to be expected. Kitty was waiting for Mom’s sappy love speech before the wedding, but istead was told not to lose herself in marriage. The press was running with the truth about Robert in the war (that he wasn’t the hero he was made out to be), and Kitty couldn’t marry him without telling him about the blackmailer that she and Kevin had paid off. So she told him and the wedding continued. Justin found out about Lena & Tommy from Rebecca. Didn’t go over too well. Rebecca admitted to Sarah that she kissed Joe to get back at her for telling her about her parantage just to pi** off Holly. And the made peace. Kevin & Scotty seemed to not be able to make it as a couple. A man from Holly’s past (played by her hubby Ken Olin, who is also a producer on the show) showed up at the winery, and the episode ended with Holly saying, “So tell me why you’re really here”. Hmmm, could this be Rebecca’s real baby daddy???

Michelle – Thanks so much!! I was looking all around for a recap of B&S and I had such a hard time finding one. I so think that Ken Olin IS Rebecca’s father and that’s going to lead to some interesting and possibly icky storylines with Rebecca and Justin.

I’m calling it right now…Justin will end up marrying Rebecca and there will be a whole speech about how it was meant to be that she would one day be a Walker.

  5. Michelle on December 3rd, 2007 11:28 am

Hee hee…I agree with you. I’d rather see that than the trips to the psychiatrist Rebecca will have to make when she realizes she’s got strange feelings for her brother. Maybe the fact that they’re dating in the real world made them want to change the storyline. Of couse, it may be a long time before it happens, with the strike and all…

And tonite is Monday Night Football, with the undefeated Pats, so make sure to find a sportsbar with less drunken asshats!!!! Spread the Mass love out west!!!

I liked B&S last night. I found it absolutely hilarious that the boys and Stan got sequestered in the wine cellar for various things. I think they are totally revving up for a Justin/Rebecca hookup, since they have started mentioning that she doesn’t have a life, etc. How long do you think it will take for Julia to learn of Tommy’s cheating?

Anyone else love the dresses the girls wore?

Oh and last week I was out of town because of a death in the family and I didn’t watch any of the shows I missed online… I was so proud of myself! I just waited til I got home on Saturday and caught up! Go writers!

I liked B&S a lot, too. I so loved that Robert & Kitty got married, but everyone else got broken up with (except poor Julia, who needs to learn about the affair!).

And add me to the list of people who think Ken Olin’s Rebecca’s father, leaving her free to date Justin. 🙂

Desperate Housewives was a whirlwind of activity last night. It kept you on your toes with all of the twist and turns it took. You first saw Gabrielle telling all of her friends that she was back with Carlos and that they were leaving town because she was afraid Victor was going to come after them. The housewives are shocked she is back with Carlos and leaving. Gaby is sad to leave them but feels they have no choice. As they are talking they are told that a tornado is coming so they reluctantly tell Gaby bye and go inside to prepare for the storm while she goes in to pack.

We then see Gaby packing more than just the essentials (of course, Gaby can’t pack light:) and Carlos tells her he is going to pick up their passports before they leave but she needs to keep an eye out for a guy who is coming to drop off the papers for the Cayman Island account with the 10 million dollars.

Sylvia (The woman from Adam’s past) comes to confront Katherine. She is sounding very, well, desperate. She tells Katherine that Adam is in love with her and that he is miserable with Katherine. Katherine tells her off, spits in her face, and tells her to leave. Bree walks up upon this scene and of course is very curious about what is going on. Being the nice person she is, Bree invites Sylvia in to get all of the juicy details from her. Sylvia tells her what happened and says she can prove that they had an affair because Adam has a snake tattoo on his left shoulder. But when Bree tells her that Adam and Katherine don’t look miserable and actually seem quite content, Sylvia freaks out and barricades herself in Brees bathroom and says she won’t come out until she talks to Adam.

Down the street, Mike goes to his glove compartment to get the drugs and instead finds a note in the bottle from Susan. She confronts him about the drugs and they have a fight. He grabs her arm and she falls down the stairs. They of course are worried about the baby and rush to the hospital. While they are waiting Mike is having withdraws from the pain pills and his temper flares when the doctors won’t Susan right away. He ends up handcuffed to a chair by the security guards. Susan finally is seen and the news is that the baby is ok. But Mike is still insisting he doesn’t have a problem and that he doesn’t need rehab. Susan, with tears in her eyes tells him that he has to stop the drugs. If he doesn’t she will leave him and take the baby.

Lynette and Tom take their family to Mrs. McCluskey’s house to ride out the storm because she has a basement. But her friend is also there with her cat. Tom is very allergic to cats and when his throat starts closing up, Susan sneaks the cat out of the cage to take it upstairs. But Mrs. McCluskey catches her. While they are having a confrontation to cat gets outside. Mrs. McCluskey runs after is and Lynette runs after her. But the storm is so bad they run into another house and get in the tub and pull a mattress over them.

In the mean time Eddie finds out what Gaby and Carlos are doing and she intercepts the Cayman Island papers. Gaby runs after her and they have an argument and end up fighting over the papers. But while they are brawling, the tornado hits the neighborhood. The papers fly away and they run into Eddie’s house and go into the crawl space to save their lives. Gaby tells Eddie she is sorry. Eddie tells her she doesn’t hate her but that she really fell for Carlos.

At Bree’s house Sylvia is still barricaded on the bathroom. Katherine and Adam come over to try and get her out. But the storm is going to hit so they along with Bree and Orson and the baby go in the closet. While they are in there Bree tells them how she thinks Sylvia is crazy. She said she knows she is lying b/c Sylvia said Adam had a tattoo on his left shoulder and she knows he doesn’t because she saw him at the pool. At that moment Katherine finally realizes the truth. Adam did have a tattoo there but got it removed. Bree realizes what happened and she consoles Katherine. You can tell they have started a friendship.

Carlos comes home and can’t find Gaby but instead finds Victor who has a gun. Victor tries to shoot him and misses. They fight in the street in the middle of the tornado and just as he is going to kill Carlos a fence post flies through his chest. And before Carlos can do anything something hits him in the head and knocks him out.

The last scene is Lynette and Mrs. McCluskey getting out of the tub and looking at the devastation. Everything is destroyed. Then Lynette sees the house where her family was and it is gone.

I bet Julie was probably on that class trip with Katherine’s daughter. If you remember, Katherine was talking on the phone and she said something about being on a class trip so I’m guessing that’s where the kids are. They probably just didn’t have enough time to say anything else about it.

They did said that one of their husband’s would die and one of their friends.

Gabby’s husband was definitely dead (finally!) and I know that Sylvia chick wasn’t anyone’s friend so I wonder who the friend was.

And surely they wouldn’t kill off Lynette’s entire family. They’re probably burried under the rubble, but alive.

I loved B & S last night (well, I love it every time it is on)! I’m glad that Robert and Kitty made it through the wedding. I also found it quite amusing that the Secret Service locked up Stan, Justin, Tommy, and Kevin in a room.
Anyone else sense a little something going on between Issac and Nora? 🙂 Also, add me to the list that Ken Olin is Rebecca’s father. I don’t think the prodcuers/directors/writers would want to waste the chemistry between Emily and Dave.
p.s. GMMR, if you need a recapper for B & S once new episodes air again, let me know! I’ll be happy to do it!

Only saw the last 15 minutes or so of DH last night. I didn’t know that Tom and the kids were left in their house but I guessed as much when Lynette screamed at the end. I can’t see the show killing off her whole family, but I wonder what they’re planning.

I did see B&S last night – I haven’t kept up with the show too well this season, but I did like last nite’s ep. I loved seeing Ken Olin at the end – has he acted in much recently? I know he’s been more involved in directing and producing. I also think he may end up actually being Rebecca’s father, but I think that would be kind of lame to change everything and have her not be a Walker after all. I hope Julia finds out about Tommy and Lena soon, as well and that Lena leaves the show soon. I liked her okay when she was first on the show but last night she annoyed me.

I absolutely love both DH and B+S. Even though I watch it I enjoy the recaps because with a 10month old baby I am apt to miss something

  13. Michele on December 3rd, 2007 7:10 pm

Meagan – I assumed that the friend will be Mrs McCluskey’s friend in the basement. They’ll probably find her first and get all freaked out that Lynette’s family is dead too, but then find the rest of them alive. I seriously doubt they will kill off Lynette’s family, the friend is expendible, and it resolves the fact that Lynette and McCluskey weren’t ‘really’ friends. She’ll lose her other friend and gain Lynette. There. That’s my official prediction.

  14. DorkyDancer on December 3rd, 2007 7:18 pm

I forgot to mention my other favorite tidbit of B & S last night–the brothers betting on whether or not Kitty would get married. I thought it was hilarious!

  15. jmurae on December 4th, 2007 3:20 pm

In the beginning of DH Katherine was talking to her daughter while they were on a school trip and she said something along the lines of “tell julie I’ll watch her mother for her”
