What to Um, Hmmm, Watch…Thursday, January 3, 2008

January 3, 2008 by

Wow…can’t say I have much of anything to put on today’s What to Watch list. I logged into my MeeVee guide (head over there and be my MeeVee friend…I don’t have many yet) this morning expecting to see at least a few new shows on my guide, but not really. Sorry…perhaps tonight would be a great night to read a book, call a friend, watch some old TV on DVD. Just don’t watch the crappy reality programming that they are throwing your way. It’s not worth it.

If you’re a fan of ER you will be happy to know that you get a new episode tonight. If you’re not…I got nothing for you.

ER | 10pm on NBC
“Status Quo”
Still stinging from Wexler’s promotion to chief, Pratt decides to leave County for a hospital that will appreciate his talents. Meanwhile, a familiar face returns to the ER and confronts a dreaded eventuality

If it’s repeats you’re looking for then enjoy the following:

Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Grin and Bear It”
Alexis’ return to work is complicated by some unladylike behavior; Daniel is troubled by demands from a major advertiser (James Van Der Beek); Betty enrolls in a writing class; Amanda begins the search for her father. I think I’ll watch this because James Van Der Beek is always worth my time.

Desperate Housewives | 10pm on ABC
“Something’s Coming”
A tornado strikes Wisteria Lane, forcing residents into basements, cellars and safe rooms, and destroying homes and lives. Meanwhile, Katherine learns the truth about the relationship between Adam and his stalker.
Any TV suggestions that are NOT reality shows starring Donald Trump or Howie Mandel?

We just finished watching seasons 1& 2 of Weeds (very good!), and we just got disc 1 of Undeclared (we loved it when it was out the first time…) from Netflix. I am thinking Battlestar Gallactica or Lost if this goes on much longer – both shows I have heard nothing but praise for but have never watched (for whatever reason). Or maybe Entourage. I have to say – I have never seen my Netflix queue move so fast as it has the past few weeks! No crappy reality for me here. Any other good DVD suggestions?

My DVD suggestion is that if you liked Undeclared, go for Freaks and Geeks. It is magnifico. Also, in case anyone missed my comment on the previous post, Conan was hilarious last night.

So are we officially boycotting The Apprentice? I’m not going to be watching it.

I don’t understand…if David Letterman’s company can come to a seperate agreement with WGA, why can’t a network (like NBC!) step up and come to their own agreement? That way they can start production and be the only show with new episodes before the other networks. That would be another incentive for the other studios to come to an agreement.

I don’t know about you, but I’m totally sick of the strike. The show that I miss way beyond the others is The Office.

I actually own Freaks and Geeks, so yes – we have rewatched that as well! It is definitely a good one.

As far as the Apprentice – I was never a fan so I will be skippng it this time around as well. And I have rewatched The Office more than anything else. Oh how I can’t wait to see what Dinner Party has in store!!

I agree with JennyL: Let’s see some networks break ranks and cross the lines to do a better deal!

I also agree with Kathie: Tonight’s a pretty sparse night for TV. There’s a rerun of the casting special for “Make Me A Supermodel” that might be OK, but that’s about it.

Only plan I have is breaking out my Office DVDs. I’ve got three episodes to watch, so why not make it a marathon.
    Sad night indeed.

Am I the only one willing to admit that I still watch ER? Sadly, the cable company isn’t coming to pull the line over to my TV’s new location until tomorrow, so I still have no live TV and I’m going to miss it. My Office DVDs have been getting quite a workout lately. I’ve also been getting an enormous amount of housework done.

I also rented the first season of How I Met Your Mother based on all the hype it gets on this site. After seeing the first 8 episodes, I can understand why. I’m really enjoying it.

“Junebug” is airing on Lifetime at 9 PM EST, starring Katy the Purse Girl (aka Amy Adams). I’ve never seen it but it got good reviews when it came out and Amy was nominated for an Oscar for her role. Otherwise I also will likely end up watching my Office DVDs!

Going to the gym tonight and watching football. This whole getting in shape New Year’s Resolution actually has a chance to succeed considering I don’t have anything new on my Tivo right now.

There is always Jeopardy and PBS for me, at least. There is a documentary called Colorblind on tonight that looks interesting and last night there was a documentary about the first sitcoms. Yay for being a nerd! It is really hard to bore me 🙂

Otherwise, I always have my Office dvds. I’m hoping to get the Flight of the Conchords dvds soon so I can watch something new.

    Phyllis-

You sure the documentary is not called Collarblind? That’s what Michael Scott would name it. 🙂

    Supernatural’s on tonight. 😀

The usual ‘Office’ night that I have with co-workers has now become movie night, and last night we watched Hot Rod. It was a pretty dang funny movie!
