Will Arnett No Longer the Voice of KITT

Will Arnett, KITT, KNIGHT RIDER

Well there goes my one and only reason to watch the new KNIGHT RIDER backdoor pilot. According to Variety, Will Arnett has been replaced by Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT. The reason? No, NBC didn’t have an issue with Arnett’s sexy and sultry voice – Arnett has had a long standing relationship with General Motors and had done extensive voice over work for the GMC lineup of trucks. GM took issue with Arnett now being the voice of KITT, a Ford Mustang, on a show that was heavily sponsored by Ford.

“I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new ‘Knight Rider’ movie,” Arnett said. “However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project.”

Bummer.

The mini-movie is set to air in just a few weeks, and Arnett has completed his voice over work. NBC and producers are now scrambling to get Vil Kilmer’s voice set for the voice of the most talking famous car.
