What to Watch…Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Despite it being the start of Hollywood week on IDOL, I think tonight is a big night for CBS. I’m beyond excited for the premiere of BIG BROTHER 9!! 9pm can’t get here fast enough. I hope some of you are geeking out over Big Brother as much as I am. Just hours until I can see the ChenBot…sweet!!

I guess the other big news on TV tonight would be the return of JERICHO. I’m sure everyone at CBS has their fingers crossed that the show pulls in better than last season ratings. With all the hoopla surround the ‘nuts’ campaign and the fans saving the show (which was a nice gesture, but exploited into something much bigger than it was by CBS), tonight’s premiere better have those eyeballs or CBS will have egg on their face (or will it be peanut butter). I wasn’t a fan of last season so I won’t be watching tonight, but if you’re a fan of JERICHO…congrats on getting your show back.

There’s a lot to choose from tonight, so I ask…what will YOU be watching?

American Idol | 8pm on Fox
In the words of Meshach Taylor’s Hollywood Montrose*, let me just say “Hollywood! Hollywood!!” Yes, we are FINALLY at Hollywood week. Praise Simon Cowell, I never thought we’d get here. I’m still expecting to hear some dreadful auditions based on the non-talent they sent through, but for the most part we can expect some good singing. I’m so excited! This is when American Idol really starts for me.

*Mad respect if you know who and what I’m talking about. No points to my sister for guessing.

Big Brother 9 | 9pm on CBS
The ninth season begins with 16 houseguests entering the compound and being paired up with their so-called “soul mate.” The eight pairs will play the game together, share Head of Household duties and be evicted as a couple. (Note: I’m going to try my best to remain spoiler free, so no24/7 live feeds for me this year. But GMMR reader kilwiggle will be contributing a recap of spoilers from inside the house, so stay tuned)

One Tree Hill | 9pm on The CW
“In da Club”
The gang hangs out at Tric for the night, where Mouth discovers that Brooke has set him up on a blind date with Millicent. Meanwhile, a nervous Mia learns that she’s about to make her solo live debut; and Lindsey tries to avoid Peyton.

According to Jim | 9pm on ABC
“Period Piece”
Determined to learn why Gracie and Ruby are always bickering, Jim reads their diaries—and learns that one of his daughters is coming of age, and the other is extremely jealous that she didn’t get there first. Lynn: Matthew Craig. (Note: Upon a positive ratification of the WGA strike, you will no longer see ‘According to Jim’ as a featured show on GMMR’s What to Watch list…I promise)

Carpoolers | 9:30pm on ABC
“Wheels of Fortune”
Laird talks Gracen into pretending he can’t walk so they can use a handicapped parking space. After a lot attendant uncovers the ruse, the guys fall victim to a string of bad luck.

Jericho | 10pm on CBS
“Reconstruction”
As the second season begins, a new government steps in and restores order, but tensions between Jericho and New Bern continue unabated and Jake will not rest until he kills Constantino. Meanwhile, Hawkins fears his nemesis is still hunting him.

Boston Legal | 1opm on ABC
“Glow in the Dark”
After enlisting Alan and Denny to help her friend, who’s suing her town for its decision to build a nuclear power plant, Shirley discovers that the opposing counsel is her college sweetheart (Scott Bakula), a fact that is not lost on Carl Sack.
