Talk to Me People…

February 18, 2008 by

I’m away in Connecticut this weekend visiting my sister and her family.  With a 5 year old and 3 year old running around I was in bed and asleep by 9:30pm last night.  I’m not going to be able to play TV catch up until later tonight, so I thought I would turn GMMR over to you guys today.

Feel free to share your thoughts, write a review, tell us what you want about the television you watched this weekend.

Did you catch Brothers & Sisters?  What about the Knight Rider backdoor pilot?  Did you watch something else that you want to tell us about?

The comments are yours…put them to good use.

I actually watched the Knight Rider movie. I wasn’t planning on it, but, mom had it on and I was in room. I didn’t pay full attention, but I enjoyed it.

We’ve been using the strike to catch up on shows we missed the first time around (gotta love Netflix!) We’ve seen the first two seasons of Weeds, season 1 of Prison Break, rewatched Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, and now we are onto Arrested Development. I can’t believe I missed that show the first time around – it is seriously hilarious! Last night we kept having to rewind because we were laughing through and missing what was going on. Hopefully we’ll get to at least the first season of Lost before the new shows return. Fun stuff!

KNIGHT RIDER was absolutely horrible and two hours of my life I’ll never get back. Damn you Ben Silverman. First FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and now this!

I, too, made the mistake of watching Knight Rider. I’m not familiar with the original, and maybe if I were it would’ve made things better. But for now, I’d put it at the same level of suck as Bionic Woman. The constant commercials from Ford using the characters were more entertaining than the actual show.

I can’t believe the only actual TV I watched this weekend was BB9 last night! I am having a hard time giving a crap about anyone so far. I did watch the about 15 episodes of Blood Ties on the computer. It so makes Supernatural and Moonlight look magnificent in comparison but I couldn’t stop! With no new Moonlight and only one Supernatural left I needed a scifi fix.

As a child Knight Rider was one of my favorite shows, and no matter what it will stay that way.

That being said, I had to watch the movie but my expectations were VERY VERY low. Especially after the giant turd called Knight Rider 2000 (TV movie from 1991).

Maybe it was only my low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised at it. Not only was I pleasantly surprised but I found myself actually getting into the plot of the show after a very slow start.

The “movie” started out very slow and really did not pick up any steam until at least 45 minutes into the two hour movie/pilot but the end left me satisfied and wanting more (don’t even say it!).

    SPOILER ALERT

The end of the movie/pilot helped to tie together the original series and this new potential series very well. The new heir to KITT’s driver’s seat (Michael Traceur played by Justin Breuning) is in fact Michael Knight’s estranged son. We even had a cameo by the Hoff, which even left the door open for a guest starring role down the road.

KITT’s voice being played by Val Kilmer was a wee bit weird and left me a bit disappointed after the promise of GOB (Wil Arnett) originally playing KITT until being forced out by GM. (KITT is a Ford Mustang Shelby in this version.)

It had a nice balance of drama, action and even an unrequited love possibly coming to fruition. (Sarah Graiman – Played by Deanna Russo – HOT! – paired with Michael Traceur).

If you have not watched this yet and have it sitting on your TIVO. Watch it!

As for this James P. Mosby, I’m excited for episode 2.

Ya, the only thing I watched was the Gladiators finale. I had to see Crush dominate, which she did!

I’ve been watching the BBC’s Torchwood Season 1 on DVD, and I’ve gotta say that I’m completely hooked. I thought I might give it a shot when I learned that James Marsters (a.k.a. Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) was going to be joining the cast in season 2, and I’m so glad I did. I needed a sci-fi fix, and this show filled the void.

On PBS, Masterpiece Theater is in the middle of playing the complete works of Jane Austen. Last night I watched part II of Pride and Prejudice. Its my favorite adaptation, and part III is next Sunday. I’d love it if you gave it a shout-out in What to Watch next week–who doesn’t love Colin Firth?

I have to say that I enjoyed the Knight Rider movie last night. It did bring me back to the days of watching it in the 80’s and although it was a bit cheezy I found that it made it seem more like the original show. I wasn’t totally sold on Val’s voice for Kitt but from what I have herd he filled in at the last min and it was believable enough. I also really enjoyed seeing Justin Breuning since I am a big All My Children fan and that was the soap he just came off of.

Crystal – Torchwood is great! Very addictive show and if you thought season 1 was good season 2 has been even better so far…

Oh and Patty is right Blood Ties is a bit missing compaired to Supernatural or Moonlight but once you start you just can’t stop =)

Hey, Keith Mars was flirting with Sal on Brothers and Sisters! Don’t think that’s been said yet 😉

So far the strike gave me time to use Netflix for Freaks and Geeks, Wonderfalls, and the first season of Dexter. I loved them all and can’t believe I missed them while they were on, except for Dexter which is understandable. I don’t have Showtime and didn’t have interest in watching the censored version on network t.v.

I did catch Knight Rider for the nostalgia. Overall I was disappointed and thought it was very slow. However, I could still see it having potential as a series if they developed it right. I really don’t know if I am interested enough in it though or in the actors they selected. It reminds me of the missed potential of Bionic Woman.
