‘Dan in Real Life’ DVD Giveaway

DAN IN REAL LIFE Giveaway

There’s just something about Steve Carell that makes me happy. Over the years I’ve come to admire his comedic genius on THE DAILY SHOW and then a little show called THE OFFICE, and who could forget his brilliant performance in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE?  But I fell head over heels for Steve in his role as Dan Burns in DAN IN REAL LIFE. This charming and very funny movie proves that Steve Carell is more than just the bumbling Michael Scott – he’s a Hollywood star well deserving of all the good things that have come his way.
Carell stars as a well respected advice columnist, Dan Burns, who despite being able to eloquently give advice isn’t the best as making the right decisions in his own life. Raising three teen daughters on his own, Dan does what he can to always put his family first. But when he meets the woman of his dreams (Juliette Binoche), Dan may be ready to do something to make himself happy. That is of course until he realizes that his new love is the girlfriend of his brother (Dane Cook)…it’s always something.

If you haven’t seen DAN IN REAL LIFE in the theaters then it’s time to catch it on DVD (released on DVD on March 11th). And luck for you, I have two (2) copies of DAN IN REAL LIFE to giveaway just to GMMR readers.

  6. Average Jane on March 24th, 2008 12:24 pm

    “Learn to type.”

At the time, that meant learning on an IBM Selectric. Who knew that typing 90 wpm would be so useful once the PC took off?

  7. Moe on March 24th, 2008 12:26 pm

Michael always says “K-I-S-S. Keep it simple, stupid.” Great advice. Hurts my feelings every time.

Just saw the movie for the first time this weekend and loved it. Having just gotten married, I have gotten lots of advice, of course. The best advice I got was that even if you disagree on something, its not worth yelling at the person you love.

  20. Elena on March 24th, 2008 1:39 pm

    It’s pretty simple advice:

    Don’t take life too seriously.

Unfortunately, I still do take it a bit too seriously, but I’m working on it.

  21. tori on March 24th, 2008 1:47 pm

The best advice I ever got was “just be yourself” and I think that if you live that way everyday- life is a lot easier!

  22. JSJ on March 24th, 2008 2:07 pm

“Don’t be an idiot.” Changed my life. Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, “Would an idiot do that?” And if they would, I do not do that thing.

  23. Jenna on March 24th, 2008 2:16 pm

An old classic. “Don’t ever go to bed angry.”

  24. Ash on March 24th, 2008 2:19 pm

This movie actually made me tear up.

“What are you afraid of? It’s your own life.” – Keeps me going everyday.

    I wish I had listened

  29. Chase on March 24th, 2008 2:41 pm

life is too short , so love the one you got

  30. Tunalicious27 on March 24th, 2008 3:00 pm

I was going through a tough time and a friend reminded me that ‘Everything changes’, meaning that though you’re going through a tough time, it won’t always be that way…the situation will change. Things don’t stay the same forever. I didn’t like the advice at the time, but it certainly proved to be true.

  31. Pedro on March 24th, 2008 3:04 pm

“whatever you do, make them remember you.”

  33. Diana on March 24th, 2008 3:18 pm

“play hard. have fun. be a good sport” my mom used to tell me before soccer games and, with a little tweaking, it can apply to most life situations.

  34. Diana on March 24th, 2008 3:21 pm

  41. Annie on March 24th, 2008 5:25 pm

“Its easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission.”

Got me in more trouble that it should have. But come on! All of those things were worth the stories that go along with them.

No matter how circumspect you are, some people will jump at the chance to point a finger at you. People love to condemn others because it gives them a sense of self-righteousness. It gets you nowhere to try to please everybody.

  48. Caitlin on March 24th, 2008 6:56 pm

My mom always says “Get over yourself”, it sounds mean but she never says it in a mean spirited way. It reminds me that the world is much bigger than me and that it doesn’t revolve around me.

  57. Jules on March 24th, 2008 9:02 pm

I realized my previous advice post may be misconstrued, but it came at a time when all I thought about was the welfare of my friends and family and I didn’t realize that my own life had completely fallen apart. Once I started looking at my own life and that it was going no where, it helped me get back on the right track, especially with my friends and family there to help as I had helped them.

Not to sacrifice my health and happiness for grades was my advice from my parents when I went to college. I feel much more well adjusted than I did in high school.
