GMMR: For the Readers BY the Readers

April 13, 2008 by

On Wednesday morning I’m boarding a plane and heading to the island of Nevis for almost a week. Be jealous…be very jealous. As excited as I am to go, I’m sad about leaving GMMR behind without many updates for the week. As much as I love you all and love my TV, I’m not really planning on spending much, if any, time watching the old tube next week.

But I don’t want to leave you without updates and a place to talk about your favorite shows. So that’s why I’m opening up GMMR to some of YOU.

If you’re interested in writing a short review of your favorite show and having me post it here on GMMR then let me know by leaving a comment on this post. Tell me which show you’d like to talk about on GMMR and I might just be in touch to call on your help.

More details after the jump…

So you want to take over for me while I’m gone? A few things to consider before you raise your hand.

  • I know it’s a bit hypocritical, but I’m looking for some semi-decent writers here. Hypocritical because I’m not much of a writer myself. But as I plan on spending most of my time in the sun, I’m not going to have much time for editing and what not. If you have experience writing or are confident you can take it on then I’d love to hear from you.
  • Unless you’re a former GMMR recapper, I’m looking for short (500 words of less) reviews (not recaps) of your favorite show. Something that let’s others know what you thought about what you watched and opens up the discussion for others.
  • Not all shows are going to be up for grabs. You think I’d leave THE OFFICE or AMERICAN IDOL to just anyone? I’m still working on figuring out what to do with THE OFFICE, but IDOL has already been handed over to my capable (and very funny) friends Deb and Glenn. Everything else is up for grabs.
  • I only need coverage for Wednesday-Sunday. I’ll be back in front of TV after that.
  • You don’t need to do anything beyond write your review and send it along to me. I’ll be doing all the posting, so WordPress experts need not apply.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at info(at)givememyremote(dot)com.

I know some people (include some fellow bloggers) will think I’m crazy, but why not give this a shot. I hope to hear from a few of you!!

I’d love to do “Eli Stone” or “The Big Give”! You can check out some of my writing in my blog (It’s linked above).

I would love to do any of the Thursday night comedies on NBC (minus “The Office, of course) or “Bones” or anything else. Would it help to say that I am both an English/writing major and the editor of my universities paper? My blog is linked above. Check it…maybe.

Hey, GMMR, i’ve been a fan and a reader for a long time…thanks for your faithful updates. i was going to say that I’d love to blog for Bones. I’m an english teacher, so I can spell 🙂 I don’t have a blog, and I’m not even sure if Bones gets that many viewers on your site, but I’d love to do it.

ps…loved your reference to Bob Loblaw’s law blog…you sir are a mouthful

Hey GMMR! Avid reader here. I just wanted to volunteer my services to review “30 Rock” this week during your break(because it’s quickly becoming my favorite comedy – behind “The Office,” of course – and because Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy is reason enough in itself). I’m a journalist, and right now I’m interning at the Chicago Tribune dealing mostly with blog posting, editing, moderating, etc. so I’m pretty familiar with the format and I have no problem spelling.
I’m also a night owl and have Thursday nights/Friday mornings free, so I’d be available for a quick turnaround. Let me know if I can help – I’d love to contribute to my favorite TV blog!

If you need help covering The Office, Scrubs or Battlestar Galactica, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail.

I would be happy to blog Top Chef, any of the Thursday night comedies, Brothers & Sisters, or Desperate Housewives. I am not an English major, but I’m definitely a television addict with excellent spelling and clever writing.

The only blog that I have presently is a personal blog that would not likely be relevant. If you’d like a sample of writing that I have done, I’d be more than happy to e-mail it to you upon request. Thank you!

I watch a lot of shows, and I would love to write about any of the following: The Office, Men In Trees, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Top Chef, or ER. I am an English major in college, and I think I have some halfway decent writing skills. If you want me to do Brothers & Sisters I might need a little notice because I am not all the way caught up to the current episode. Please let me know if I can help!

    Hey GMMR,

I’m always available for recaps. We watch pretty much the same things so I can cover whatever. Greys, Brothers & Sisters, Ugly Betty, 30 Rock, Greek, How I Met Your Mother (my fav. behind 30 Rock and The Office), Gossip Girl. Any of those…

    Hey!

I have pretty decent writing skills. I wrote for my college’s newspaper.
I would be really interested in doing reviews for some shows. I love The Office (of course) but I also watch Scrubs and Battlestar Galactica. (I’d love to add more to that list but some of my faves aren’t back on yet).

I’d be happy to help out if you need it. Have a good vacation!

I’m up for The Tudors, Battlestar Galactica, or Men In Trees. I’m a communications major if that helps.
