SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE…Final Auditions

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

The 2008 SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE auditions are over! OVAH!! Tomorrow night it’s all about Vegas and the Top Ten Boys and Top Ten Girls will be revealed. Can I get a hells yeah?!

Tonight’s final audition episode featured some of the best (and worst) that Milwaukee had to offer as well as a few highlights from auditions from previous cities. There are some really talented dancers this year and I couldn’t be more excited to see them all in Vegas tomorrow night.

But here were some of the standouts from me from tonight’s episode…

I have to give it up for Boston boy, Michael Kim. Although I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little over all the poppers this season. These guys are talented, and I enjoy watching them, but for some reason I feel like we’ve seen so many poppers (and contemporary dancers) that I felt like I’ve been missing the other genres…desperately. But Michael has some great moves and I hope he can handle the choreography in Vegas.

Janette Manrara and Romulo Villaverd had some of the sickest moves I have ever seen from Latin dancers, or I guess any style dancers for that matter. It was incredible to see what they were able to do. The trust that must exist to pull this stuff off! And not for nothing, but how painful must have been to get to this place. Janette has moved on to Vegas but the judges passed on her partner, Romulo.

One of my favorite dancers of the night was Kourtni Lind. She was a beautiful contemporary dancer with amazing strength. I don’t know if it was the hair or what but she certainly reminded me of Mia Michaels, and honey, that’s never a bad thing. I am so excited to see more of her in Vegas.

Although it was a smooth audition, I didn’t think Evan Kasprzak was anything special until he did his pirouettes at the end. What? I’m easy. Give me a few spins and I’m in. This kid will kill if he gets assigned a Broadway routine, but I haven’t seen enough of him to know if he can pull off anything else besides his specialty. I guess we’ll see.

Well, well, well…Mr. Cooper Zamorano. Are you the boy we’ve been looking for all season? As soon as he took the stage he reminded me so very much of Travis Wall (Nigel saw it too). And although he’s not Travis (because there is only ONE Travis Wall, honey), he certainly has a shimmer of his talent. Cooper was a beautiful contemporary dancer, and easy on the eyes too. Ducky’s S4 SYTYCD boyfriend? Perhaps?

And tonight’s show ended with a bit of beauty and style when Lizz Plott took to the stage with a kick ass tap number. We don’t see enough tappers on the show. I think it’s because tap is so very stylized and so difficult that perhaps dancers don’t have the time to dedicate to learning other genres. Then again, I’m probably talking out of of my ass because I know nothing about dance. Yup, that’s probably it. Lizz had auditioned in the past for the show focusing on hip hop and contemporary so it seems this girl just might have the versatility she needs to bring tap to the Top 20.

Of course we saw other talents tonight, and if they are good enough we will probably see more of them tomorrow night.

(Oh and don’t think I won’t be posting Travis Wall’s incredible routine…just waiting for it to show up online.)

Thanks to kelxk3l for sharing the videos of tonight’s performances. You’re all kinds of awesome!
