A Note from Me to You…

June 10, 2008 by

Give Me My Remote - GMMR LogoHi everyone! If you’re in the middle of a heat wave like we are here in Boston, I hope you’re staying cool. It’s scorching hot here and I’m doing my best to not be a hot sweaty mess, but it ain’t easy.

June is a bizarre time in TV world and in the quirky little world that is TV blogging. All of our favorite regular season shows have ended. Reality TV has taken over the tube – some worth talking about, but most not worth the time. And while the kind folks over at USA, TBS, TNT, etc are offering up some fantastic scripted summer shows (some of which start later this week), there’s not a ton to talk about. Yes, there’s the Fall season to discuss, but personally I like to wait at least until the middle of July to get into all that stuff because to be honest, things change daily – pilots are recasted, showrunners change, pilots are reshot – and I like to wait until there’s something worthwhile and interesting to really talk about.

But the lack of TV isn’t the only reason that GMMR has been a little quiet as of late. Not to make excuses, but I didn’t want you to think this is how we were going to roll all summer. Nope, let’s just call June our ‘lull time’. That being said, I thought I would give you guys a heads up on what’s going on in my world that might creep into GMMR-land.

So let’s start with the relaunch of GMMR. Yup, I’m working on an update to GMMR. The look of the site hasn’t really changed much over the past few years and I think it’s about time we got a little makeover. I’m not too sassy when it comes to this stuff so it’s taking me a bit longer than I hoped. I’m really hoping to get the new site launched sometime this month. Fingers crossed. I hope you guys will really dig the new site and you’ll think its worth the time it’s been taking away from the current GMMR.

I’m going to be starting a new job on Monday. I’m really excited about it as I think it will be challenging and really interesting. And yes, I have a real 9-5 job. What? You thought this blogging thing was my only gig? Nope, I have college loans to pay off and a weekend bar tab that just can’t be sustained by GMMR alone. That being said, in addition to enjoying my few days of unemployed freedom, I’m also using this last week before I get started to tie up a bunch of loose ends, run the errands I need to run, and spend time planning and preparing for my new job. All this running around means I’m not necessarily by my computer as much as I normally am. And hence, fewer GMMR updates.

So yeah, I know this is all a bunch of blah blah blah, but I just wanted to let you know that despite this ‘lull time’ we’ll be back to business as usual around here very soon.

Thanks for your patience. Although I think it every minute of everyday, I don’t know if I tell you guys enough – but GMMR readers are the best! You make this crazy little hobby of mine well worth it!

My oh My, I reckon you deserve a break! I am so glad you have found employment, as there is nothing in this world more frustrating than trying to figure out how to pay one’s bills. Especially the bar tab. Vodka goes down fast and furious, then it is gone, but you still gotta pay the piper….Good luck! Looking forward to the new site, but I GUESS you should take your time…. :>)

and seriously, there isn’t much on the telly to discuss anyhoo, right? besides, SYTYCD, that is (which i’m finally hooked on, thanks solely to YOU!).

We did, indeed, have a crazy heat wave here in upstate NY – with a few bonus freak storms, one of which knocked out our power, and therefore our fans. That was a miserable day. Things have cooled off now, luckily.
