THE MOLE: Fruit of the Luge

The Mole on ABC

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still enjoying THE MOLE, but it’s certainly lost a little something since its last go around a few seasons back.  And more than anyone I blame the producers.  Ultimately it’s the producers decision as to who gets cast, and they knew exactly what they were doing when the cast this lot of grating players.

Maybe I’m looking back through my rose colored glasses but THE MOLE I remember was much more focused on the game and the natural drama that developed from the interplay between the contestants.  This season it seems to be all about fitting in the missions between the bickering.  With Nicole’s bitchery, Paul’s obnoxious mouth, and Bobby’s lack of a backbone as just a few of the cast annoyance’s I don’t know who I dislike more.

But we don’t have any choice I guess.  We’re stuck with these people.  It’s just a shame the producer’s didn’t think highly enough of their own show to go ahead and let the game do the talking.

The Missions…
There were two big missions tonight.  The first involved a luge, a blindfold and some fruit – all the ingredients for a good Saturday night if you asked me.  Suspicions were raised when Nicole and Alex made a very obvious and probably unavoidable mistake.  Craig and Victoria forfieted their winnings by breaking one of the rules and talking after the mission was over.  Tsk Tsk.  Interestingly enough, people weren’t as suspicious of Craig and Victoria, which of course made me all kinds of suspicious.

The second mission also sounded like one hell of a good time.  After a relaxing day at the Spa, the contestants entered the locker room to find out their clothes had been snatched.  Whatever they had on under their robes would be what they were wearing around town for the day.  For those not wearing anything, they were offered skimpy undies courtesy of the show (oh how nice). The contestant walked around town begging for clothes from their new friends in Chile.  When they met the dress code to meet Jon at dinner they won the money…and the right to eat.  Clay and Mark opted out of this one which I found odd but too obvious for ‘Mole’ like behavior…or is that what The Mole wants us to think?! Ugh.

The Quiz…
It’s quiz time and Jon makes this one all kinds of interesting by offering $20k to walk away from the game.  No one bites and eliminations begin.  A few contestants are relieved to find out their quiz answers were good enough to make it through to the next round.  But for those still left, things were once again made interesting my Jon making another offer of $30k to walk. In a surprising move, Ali opted to take the money and eliminate herself from the game.

But Jon soon revealed that Ali’s would have been safe tonight, meaning that another contestant would be joining her.  And it was soon revealed that Bobby had the lowest score and would also be eliminated tonight.

That was kind of a shocker.  Based on his game play I though Bobby might have been The Mole.  But he wasn’t.  And that means that most likely all of the bitching Bobby did about walking, running, talking, breathing…was all just him.  How pathetic?

So with two more contestants gone, The Mole is that much more exposed.

My guess for this week…
I’m going with Kristen.  She’s kept pretty quiet so far and almost slipped into the background – just what The Mole wants to happen. Personally I’m convinced that the producers inform The Mole beforehand which of the missions they are to sabotage and exactly how to do so without raising too much suspicion.  I think next week we’ll see Kristen have a little misstep or two that leads to some lost money for the team.

Your guesses…
We know The Mole isn’t Ali or Bobby.  Do you have any guesses as to who it might be? What did you think about last night’s episode, and the season so far?

I have never seen the previous seasons of this show. I don’t watch reality TV (aside from Project Runway and Top Chef) but I gave this a shot because there is nothing else on.

I agree with your comments though – I am so annoyed by all of catfighting and I feel like the producers are focusing on team tension but not from the game, from the obnoxious personalities. I literally see red every time Paul talks. He just needs to shut up. For me that would eliminate 90% of my frustration with the show.

I agree with you about the fighting but they are all just fighting with paul, and I guess he is just trying to get in their heads but it is annoying. I think that it could be kristen because she is quiet, but I’m also suspicious of victoria

I don’t dislike Paul as much as everyone else does – Nicole is much worse! She complains about everything and thinks way too highly of herself.

Craig is on my watch-list because…well, he’s just been under the radar so far. It was a little suspicious how his group found the clothes from the laundromat, though . Maybe it was just good editing, but I think they showed him nodding when Jon (not nearly as fun of a host as The Coop) explained the address clue on the card afterwards.

I honestly think that Nicole is trying to make everyone think she is the mole because it’s just too blatant. Also, I don’t think Paul is the mole because he is playing the game like he needs to get into peoples heads before the quiz, which i don’t think the mole would do.

I have had an inkling of suspicion that Kristen is the mole for the past couple of weeks. Last week, she was on the bike that beat the gondola riders, and she was also on the team that didn’t bring back any pigs in the when pigs fly challenge because she was too busy hauling Bobbys butt around. I don’t think there was much to sabotage this week without being obvious about it. My other possible moles are Clay and Victoria. Don’t really know why on either of them, but I guess I could just see it being them.

I kind of think it’s Paul, but only because of hints I’m getting from the show. But when Bobby mentioned the big apple thing, and then got eliminated, it makes me wonder if he voted for him, which would make me theory go down the hole. But Paul’s been good about being under the radar in the game, but messing things up outside. If Bobby voted primarily for Paul, then I’ve got nothing. Possibly Victoria.

The mole is either Victoria or Clay.
