Who is THE MOLE? Who Won THE MOLE?

August 11, 2008 by

The following post reveals spoilers for the season finale of THE MOLE.  Stop reading if you don’t want to know.

THE MOLE is probably the only reality game show where the reveal of the winner isn’t the biggest news of the show.  But after weeks of wondering just who was sabotaging the game play of the other contestants, everyone was dying to find out just who was The Mole.

And tonight it was revealed.  But before we get to it I guess we should announce the winner.

The winner of this season of THE MOLE and the identity of THE MOLE after the jump.

The winner of THE MOLE going home with a purse of $420,000 is….

Mark Lambrecht wins THE MOLE

MARK LAMBRECHT!

It was revealed tonight that the school teacher and soccer coach who hoped to win the big prize so his wife could be a stay at home mom was almost out of the game a number of times throughout the competition.  Beating his opponents at time by just mere seconds, Mark pulled it out with some great game play and a little bit of luck to win this season of THE MOLE.

But just who was the devious folk mucking it up for all the other players.  Well believe it or not it was…

Craig it THE MOLE

CRAIG SILKE!

Yes, the funny guy from San Diego who put himself out there as everyone’s best friend was revealed to be the biggest mole of them all.  Craig used his sense of humor, his wit, his intellect and even his physical attributes to outsmart all the other contestants…well except for Mark.  Actually no one even suspected Craig as the mole until Week 7 of the game when Paul caught on to his game. Nice work.

I’ll admit it, I didn’t see Craig as the mole.  I didn’t want to. I was fooled like everybody else into thinking that there was no way this guy could pull it off.  I sorely underestimated him.  Congrats Craig!

But you do know what this means, right?  It means that Nicole is as obnoxious as she appeared to be.  All her stupid comments and many, many slipups during the game weren’t the result of sabotage in as much as it was her own stupidity.  I’m being harsh but Nicole (and Paul) were two of the reasons that I disliked this season so much.  Their obnoxious personalities only took away from the enjoyment  of the game…even if they claimed it was part of their strategy.  I don’t by it.

As for this season, well I can’t say that it lived up to my expectations. As I’ve said all along, the casting killed it for me.  I’m glad I watched because I’d be shocked if THE MOLE is back for another season and I guess I’m glad that I saw it before it was too late.  But for those of you who just watched for the first time I think you were a bit cheated.  Maybe it’s my rose colored glasses (or thoughts of first MOLE host Anderson Cooper) but I just found previous seasons much more enjoyable.

But that’s that.  Congrats to Mark and Craig!  And that’s a wrap on this season of THE MOLE.

I might be the only person in the history of the world, but i LOVED nicole. She grew on me. everyone else was so bland (seriously, what were they thinking?) but Nicole was in everybody’s face, and some of the stuff she said (“I kill you while you sleep… I can do it so I don’t leave any forensic evidence”) cracked me up. I’d be surprised if it came back, but I’m really happy with the results. And, as one of those viewers from the very beginning, nobody is as good as Anderson Cooper. But Craig was by far the best MOLE.

I completely agree that Anderson Cooper was a key success factor in the original “Mole” seasons. I watched “The Soup” on the weekend, where they showed a clip of Anderson guest hosting on Regis and Kelly, and Anderson was lamenting his choice of watching “Living with the Lohans”. He was freaking hilarious! His diatribe was classic – he doesn’t know who Lindsay is, but couldn’t understand why there’s a show where the one famous person in the family is not even on the show…too funny 🙂

I still remember Anderson in an early season jumping up and down and giggling “I love this game”. Once the Mole lost Anderson, it lost a bit of its appeal.

I thought Craig was a great Mole. I think that despite what players may try and do to sabotage certain events, their true colours or desires come out as far as whether they are shooting for the money or not. Mark was never in my mind the Mole, especially after his temper tantrum over losing his book; so it was between Craig and Nicole for me.

Craig did something in the final episode that clinched his “moleness” for me. He knew the game too well in the final challenge when he led the players from one point to another to solve the riddle and defuse the bomb. He’d not shown anything near those smarts all season, and it seems that in the final challenge the Mole has always tried to help the players; and this season was no different.

I was happy to see Mark win; and I love that at the end of the Mole the other players acknowledged and were respectful of the winner. It’s such a complicated game, and in the end everyone just tries to do their best. I find that refreshing 🙂

I watched the season, but was disappointed too. It was not the same Mole as previous seasons. I missed Anderson Cooper too. I think you nailed it – the casting was not great – no real likeable people to cheer for. Too bad – b/c it’s an awesome show.
