BONES Recap: The Man in the Outhouse

September 11, 2008 by

Hey, all my people! It’s your good friend, Seels, here, ready to give you your weekly dose of Bones. Did you see our girl Emily Deschanel on the cover of TV Guide? Nice. How do you like the new credits? I think Booth got some new wheels, too. I’m not a car person, can anyone verify?

Well, it seems that those fans who were not happy with the sexed-up premiere may not be in love with this one. From the get go, (well, after the outhouse blow up), we see Booth barge into Bren’s place with coffee, but he’s the one in for a surprise. More on that later…

The Case:
The host of a reality TV show that specializes in helping women catch their cheating men is found dead in an outhouse. I’ll spare you the particulars, even though the show doesn’t. It’s a grossie. Lots of suspects; I was actually very surprised by the outcome. I also thought (busted by) Bill was going to be a nice guy, but, he was kind of a turd sandwich. No pun intended.

Squints:

  • I wanted to like the new girl, Daisy, but…she was just too annoying. I liked all the moments where Hodgins, Cam and Brennan put her in her place. Her moment of trying to pick up Sweets was off the charts cute, though, yeah? Sweets…love him?
  • Cam was back to her smart, fierce ways. I was happy about that.
  • Not really any Angela and Hodgins tension, which seemed weird, but…whatever. Thoughts?

B+B:
Can I say I like Booth in his office? There’s a comfort zone there, and I find him attractive when he’s in the zone. On the other hand, Brennan does not find him attractive, funny, or anything nice when he’s all up in her business about the two guys she’s dating. I liked how he and Sweets interrupted her date, and I also like how Sweets kind of called him on it. Booth and I L.O.V.E.D when Brennan was cornered by her two guys. So…I do these reviews as I watch, you know? And the end? AH! Oh, yes. Booth, you tell her. And Brennan…she was open to what he had to say (and she looked so beautiful…so, so beautiful, and vulnerable). That moment moved up into my top five all time.

Fave lines of the night…both from my main man, Booth, straight to his girl, Bones:

  • “My gut says you’re going with your gut on this one, and we all know how that ends up. Not good” (cute finger waggle).
  • “Look, I’m sorry. If Mark and Jason don’t know how lucky they are; they don’t deserve you in the first place.” (Bren scoffs: All relationships are temporary) “Ah, no, that’s not true, Bones. You’re wrong, okay? There is someone for everyone. Someone you’re meant to spend the rest of your life with. All right? You just have to be open enough to see it. That’s all.”

Seeleybaby is GMMR’s resident BONES expert. She’ll be following the show all season for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Booth and Brennan (ok especially Booth) well covered this year!

I love me some Sweets. I think he’s funny in a different way than any of the other characters. I also liked this episode and the various poop jokes because, well, poop is funny.

I think that this episode may have been meant for a later airdate, and that’s why they didn’t address the Hodgins and Angela issue.

Sweets totally owned this episode for me. He was too cute. Especially in the scenes with Daisy and B&B. I love the way he just smiles at them, waiting for them to eventually get it.

“Her moment of trying to pick up Sweets was off the charts cute, though, yeah?”

And it apparently worked since he called her at the end of the show.

I did not like Booth’s attitude towards Brennan at all. If he doesn’t like her sexual arrangements, then shut up about it. It is not his job to run her life. His very apparent ruse of using official duties to screrw around with her personal life is borderline sexual harassment.

If he wants to ask her out do so, if not then butt out of her personal life unless invited in.

Thanks for all the comments so far. John, I don’t know if I’d say sexual harrassment, but, I agree that it’s time for one of them to quit messing around and make a move. I’m guessing it won’t happen any time soon.
Emma, how do you live? hahaha
Patty and Erin, I’m not in love with Sweets, but…he was funny.
    Thanks for your comment, too…rghan….

Oh Seels, I loved the review and this whole epi soared into my top five of all time. That last scene…I thought my shipper heart would burst out of my chest!!! Great job!

Thanks for the recap. i noticed the lack of anything between Angela & Hodgins, too. i thought that was completely weird. i knew that assistant was gone almost as soon as she opened her mouth. And then when she said that she had a minor in psychology. I thought – yep Brennan is not gonna like this girl – she is most definitely gone.

I thought the camera guy at the end when she said that she lived with her ex boyfriend. My husband thought maybe Bill’s wife (which is weird that they never really questioned her when the husband was obviously cheating, and wouldn’t she be a suspect?)

I’m glad that Sweets asked the girl out since she seems nice. I wish Angela & Hodgins hadn’t split up, though.

I think that hart hanson will do the show harm if he waits to long to put B&B together. loyal fans may give up on the show. I am hoping at least they start near the end of this season. I heard a rumor that Booths brother make the move on Brennen and he gets really jealous. I loved yanks in the UK and the man in the outhouse, i really do not miss zack but if you are a fan he will be on the sept 24th eps.

Was David Boreanaz the King of the Cutest Faces in this ep, or what?
Brennan’s debacle with the two men she was dating left plenty of opportunity for Booth to show his amusement off in different ways – I especially loved when he was flashing ‘private joke’ type looks at Sweets when the two crashed Brennan’s date with Jason.

You took the thoughts right out of my mind! I have to say, finally after a summer and Yanks: They’re back!

I liked this episode more than the first episode. My thoughts?
-I couldn’t stand Daisy. I’m so glad she was fired but i did think the chemistry between Sweets and her was cute 🙂
-I also thought it was odd that there was absolutely nothing going on between Hodgins and Angela. It was like nothing had ever happened. Hey, doesn’t bother me. While i like the two characters and thought they were sweet together, those parts in the show didn’t really draw my attention too much.
-I adore Sweets! Always have. He’s one of my favorite characters on the show. I also really enjoy his moments w/ Booth. Those two crack me up when they’re together!
-I’m glad Bones got caught by the two guys–she needed to see what she was doing wrong. She’s so logical and scientific when it comes to relationships and Booth has the heart. It was nice to see their moment at the end.
Overall, i really enjoyed this episode 🙂
