Top 5 TV Kisses That Rocked My World

I’m such a chick. I’m a sucker for a good TV romance. I might bitch and moan about the ‘will they, won’t they’ of it all but really, who doesn’t a love a little sexual tension? But when that sexual tension bubbles over to some long awaited smoochage….well there’s nothing better than that.

So here’s a look at 5 TV kisses that rocked my world. The following aren’t listed in any particular order. It was hard enough to choose my Top 5 – you couldn’t possibly expect me to rate them too?

Jim & Pam’s “I’m Going All In (That’s What She Said) Casino Night” Kiss
You know it was going to be on the list, so let’s just take care of business now, shall we? I think God invented DVRs just for this moment. In what was a stunning and unexpected moment, Jim Halpert confesses his love to his best friend, Pam Beesly. But when he hears the words “I can’t” he has no choice but to walk away. We all thought that was it. We were going to have to wait the whole summer to see the fallout from Jim’s confession. But no one and I mean no one expected that the two would meet up moments later in the darkened offices of Dunder Mifflin and share their first (real) kiss. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this scene, but I will tell you that it’s been saved on my DVR since the original air date and I refuse to ever delete it.

Joey & Pacey’s “It’s About Damn Time, Girl” Kiss
There was never a question that Pacey & Joey were going to end up somewhere on this list, but the real trouble came from choosing which kiss was my favorite. Would it be their first kiss by the side of the road? The kiss they shared when Joey decided to sail away with Pacey on ‘True Love’? Their “embarrassing gropefest” in the boat house? “10, my love”? So many to choose from. But in the end I went with what I thought was perhaps the most important one – the first time Joey kissed Pacey. It was on Spring Break at Aunt Gwen’s house, and after a weekend fighting their attraction and sharing an amazing kiss, Pacey puts it all on the line and tells Joey that she needs to make the next move. And how she does. It was the moment that they both realized that there was no turning back.

The kissing continues after the jump…

Sydney & Vaughn’s “We Just Saved the World, Now What do We Do?” Kiss
The Alliance had just been taken down, and Sydney Bristow stands among the debris of the now defunt SD-6. She takes her moment to realize the gravity of what just happened. But then she sees him across the room – Michael Vaughn. They lock eyes and realize that it’s over. There are no more obstacles standing in their way (well except for the rumble and debris from the explosion). They slowly walk towards each other but soon quicken the pace and when they finally meet they share a kiss that can stand up against the best kisses of all time. Not even the antics of Agent Eric Weiss can unlock those lips. Satisfaction.

Veronica & Logan’s “I Just Can’t Fight This Feeling Any Longer” Kiss
First they were friends and then bitter rivals. But when obligatory psychotic jackass, Logan Echolls, needs the PI skills of one Veronica Mars, the twosome are forced to spend some quality time together tracking down the bad guys. But when Logan rescues Veronica from perceived danger, she can’t help but repay him with a small kiss to the cheek. But his non-reaction leaves Veronica thinking she got it all wrong. Maybe things haven’t changed between the two of them. Seconds later when Logan scoops her up in a kiss that would knock off your bobby socks, she realizes just how much things have change. With that kiss began one of the most frustrating and fantastic TV romances of all time.

Ok so I know I started off my saying I was going to share my Top 5 kisses, but really it’s going to be six, I hope you don’t mind. See I really couldn’t decide between my final two so I decided to go with both.

Tim & Dawn’s “Thank God There Was a Christmas Special” Kiss
The second couple from THE OFFICE to make my list are Tim Canterbury & Dawn Tinsely – the original Jim & Pam. Those of us who watched the original UK version of THE OFFICE were stunned when the series ended with Tim staying at Wernham Hogg Paper Company and Dawn Tinsely headed to the US with her fiance, Lee. It was the end of the show – they were supposed to end up together, but they didn’t. And so was the brilliance of Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant’s world. But thanks to the post-series Christmas specials, fans finally got what they were begging for. After saying her final goodbyes, Dawn leaves Wernham Hogg once again. But when she receives a small gesture from Tim she knows in that instant what she needs to do (sound familiar). She races back to the office and finally kisses the man she loves. Now you see why Jim & Pam work so well.

Rachel & Ryan’s “Every Girl Should Be Kissed Once Like That In Their Life” Kiss
So my final choice wasn’t from a TV show persay, but it certainly happened on TV and it was a kiss that rocked my world so I think it meets the qualifications (plus it’s my blog so I can make the call). Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams had just one the coveted MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. And since it was a tradition, everyone expected at least a little smooch reenactment. But what we got was a kiss for the ages. Talk about scorching. Day-um!

So there you have it. The Top 5 (ok 6) TV kisses that rocked MY world. What memorable TV kisses rocked YOUR world?!

Man, I’ve only seen two of them, but your first two (Jim/Pam and Joey/Pacey) are totally on my list also. Were also the first two I thought of.
    I want a kiss like that… 🙂

  2. L-A on September 12th, 2008 8:47 am

Excellent choices! I saw the subject heading and immediately thought of Veronica and Logan, so I was happy to see them after the cut. I think I’d have ranked all of those in my top five (except Pacey/Joey – but I was an on-again/off-again Dawson’s Creek fan and hadn’t seen that kiss until now).

  3. Jen on September 12th, 2008 9:15 am

Yippe for LoVe… oh how I miss VMars. And Jim & Pam and Tim and Dawn 🙂

  4. Jody on September 12th, 2008 9:36 am

Wow! Definitely have to agree with #1! Hot stuff. Sid & Vaughn’s 1st kiss would be on my list too. I’d have to go with Pacey & Joey’s first kiss by the road I think, but it is a tough call. And of course Buffy & Angel right before she sent to him hell would be on there as well.

  5. Caro B. on September 12th, 2008 9:40 am

How about….Ross and Rachel in the Coffee Perk. Ross comes back to the door as Rachel is closing; and she opens the door, and …wowza ! 🙂

  6. Kathleen on September 12th, 2008 10:00 am

Yeah, I’ll agree with Ross and Rachel. I can’t believe Seth and Summer didn’t make the list either, but you have to choose. I would have also chosen The West Wing’s Josh and Donna as well from the final season in the hotel room, but I’m a bit biased. Or Bones/Booth from this past Christmas when he ended up with her gum. And I want to commend you on choosing the Ryan/Rachel kiss from the VMA’s. I should not be so invested in whether a couple stays together or splits up, but when I read that they seemed to have gotten back together, it made my heart skip a little bit.

  7. Sarcasmo on September 12th, 2008 10:23 am

As for Ross and Rachel kisses, the one where they’re watching the video from prom night and Rachel goes and kisses Ross always gets me.

  8. Emily E on September 12th, 2008 10:37 am

Well, that just made me all tingly. 😉 I just randomly watched the Syd and Vaughn kiss yesterday…sometimes you just need it. haha I would also add the Ross and Rachel kiss, Seth and Summer’s Spiderman kiss, and Luke and Lorelai’s first kiss…”Will you just stand still?!”

  9. Alyson on September 12th, 2008 10:49 am

All great choices. Veronica-Logan, Pacey-Joey, and Jim-Pam are some of my favorite TV moments and they give you tingles every time.

    And hot damn, Ryan Gosling.

  10. Liz on September 12th, 2008 12:10 pm

I definitely would put the Alias and Veronica Mars kisses on my list, and possibly the first Ross/Rachel kiss for nostalgia’s sake. I’ll also stick in Buffy/Spike from the end of OMWF because I am a huge Spike fan, Angel/Cordelia from season 5 of Angel because it made me cry, and Casey/Dana from Sports Night because it ruled, to round out my top 5. This could definitely change as I think of more, though!

  11. Seeleybaby on September 12th, 2008 12:38 pm

Oh, Casey and Dana, fo shiz! I had forgotten about that. Good call.

Luke and Lorelai, that was pretty good, too, hmmm?

but yours were also excellent choices

  12. Lisa (aka lmr) on September 12th, 2008 12:45 pm

Jim and Pam – #1 of all time. My sad personal tale on this one is that I missed it on the original airing. I didn’t yet have DVR and was on a business trip. I found out about it online and so am always and forever sad that I never got a chance to be as shocked as everyone else was the first time it happened.

  13. Carli on September 12th, 2008 12:51 pm

Great choices; loved all of those. I believe I screamed like a fangirl at all of them 🙂

That Ryan/Rachel one is so hot and adorable.

  14. JennyL on September 12th, 2008 1:10 pm

That was so fun Kath! This list could have been called 5 (or 6!) reasons to love TV!!

I hate (HATE) that I was late on The Office US bandwagon, and I missed the original surprise JAM kiss. I knew it was coming, and so although I wasn’t stunned by the kiss – it was (IS) awesome tv. I realize what I was missing having anticipated that kiss – b/c the first LoVe kiss had me slackjawed at the shockingness of it….and that’s totally part of the fun.

  15. Sarah on September 12th, 2008 2:00 pm

Totally 100% agree with Jim and Pam and of course Joey and Pacey, but I’d HAVE to put the Ross/Rachel kiss on there (either the one at Central Perk or at the Apt. Door “See! He’s her lobster!”) and when Mulder finally kissed Scully in the series finally.

  16. Susan on September 12th, 2008 2:11 pm

The LoVe scene is one of my favorites. But where is the Luke/Lorelai kiss? That one is nearly perfect too!

  17. jengod on September 12th, 2008 2:20 pm

That Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling thing is THE FREAKING BEST. I love that they are back together.

  18. Jason the TVaholic on September 12th, 2008 2:27 pm

For me, I would put the Ross/Rachel after watching the prom video and the Seth/Summer Spider-Man re-enactment on the list in place of the Joey/Pacey and the Ryan/Rachel. But, the Tim/Dawn kiss is an inspired choice and for those who’ve never seen the original British version of The Office, you should definitely do so.

  19. Billiam on September 12th, 2008 2:39 pm

Personally, I liked the preceding “Jim pours his heart out and Pam doesn’t know what to do” scene better than the kiss. It felt so real and so raw, and was so well acted.
And can I say that I hate the abbreviation LoVe? Too cheesy for me. But thanks for reminding us of the earlier seasons of Veronica Mars, when the idea of them together was a good one. I know I’m in the minority here, but I got so sick of their angsty soap-opera crap during season 3.

  20. tessahessa on September 12th, 2008 3:36 pm

Dude. Casey/Dana. Absolutely my number one. Man, I still miss that show. Anyway, for the uninitiated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fYMZg8PkLg

  21. Lindsay on September 12th, 2008 3:44 pm

I liked PJ and Brando on My Boys, even though nothing ever came of it. That annoyed me.

  22. tessahessa on September 12th, 2008 3:57 pm

Casey/Dana. Absolutely my number one. Man, I still miss that show. It is my belief that someday we will discover that there really are parallel realities, and in one of them, Casey and Dana are together. And happy. And arguing. The way it should be.

    Anyway, for the uninitiated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fYMZg8PkLg

  23. Angela on September 12th, 2008 4:44 pm

Every time is see that Ryan Gosling/Rachel McAdams kiss, all I can think about is the fact that he is clearly chewing gum.

  24. Kimber on September 12th, 2008 7:15 pm

I have to 100% disagree with the Joey/Pacey kiss being on your list. But then again, I was always an Andie/Pacey fan (and a Dawson/Joey fan too), so the whole Joey/Pacey paring pissed me off. And made me hate the finale.

But Sydney and Vaughn’s “we saved the world, what do we do now” kiss was absolutely fantastic. I have it on VHS, and I still watch that ep from time to time, to make myself all melty and happy with the world.

My Top 5 Kisses would have to include Sydney and Vaughn, Rachel and Ross’s kiss at the Central Perk, Jaye and Eric (from Wonderfalls – the “end of the season/series” kiss), Jack and Angela’s swing kiss (from Bones – man, that was a good one!). Oh – and Dana and Alice’s first kiss (from The L Word). All great smooches.

  25. Elizabeth on September 12th, 2008 8:22 pm

I would HAVE to include the first Felicity/Ben kiss in the finale of Season One. In the middle of the whole Noel/Ben/roadtrip-or-not saga they share a “moment” in the back room of Dean and Deluca. But when it doesn’t happen they (of course) decide to talk about it and BAM…Ben throws himself at her. It’s also one of the few great kisses I’ve ever seen while one of the characters is sitting. Think about it, there aren’t too many. Kudos and ditto to all the rest of your picks!

  26. Mandi on September 12th, 2008 8:28 pm

I am so glad that someone else understands my true love for everything involving alias. i mean please, my life has been diminshed without vaughn in it.

i remember watching this kiss after the super bowl while i was still in college with a friend in the lobby of our dorm. we honestly screamed so loud and so long and jumped up and down for so long that we got in serious butt-kicking trouble by the resident director. totally didn’t see that coming, but i am oh glad that it happened.

  27. Julie on September 12th, 2008 9:33 pm

I remember my breath catching in my throat the first time I saw the Jim and Pam kiss. Even now, it still could make any day better.

  28. annewa on September 12th, 2008 10:53 pm

Definitely the first two and I’d add Ross and Rachel and Dave & Maddie (Moonlighting).

  29. jengod on September 13th, 2008 12:19 am

Sawyer and Kate’s first kiss in the bamboo grove in the jungle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpXwwlond-E

  30. Molly on September 13th, 2008 1:48 am

Josh & Donna, The West Wing, “The Cold” for the kiss and then “Election Day, Part 1” for the slam of the scotch glass on the table before they finally make whoopie. 7 seasons of angst and tension leading up to THAT.

  31. Shari on September 13th, 2008 11:00 pm

I agree with everything on your list and I never even watched Alias. I want to now though! LOL. I forgot how much VM’s Chrysler suited her and that haircut that first season. God I miss that show. I initially hated Pacey and Joey but grew to love them and that kiss is one of the reasons why. Tim & Dawn’s smooch was sooo romantic, I never tire of watching that scene!!!

I agree with posters about the Seth & Summer kiss (sigh) and I loved Felicity & Ben in S4 when he came to the airport (double sigh). Not to mention Meredith & Derek in Grey’s finale in Season 2. That is still THE hottest sex scene I have ever seen on television – tongue, hairpulling, lost panties galore (triple sigh).

And thanks for the Ryan & Rachel clip. I LOVE THEM. When I saw the pap shots of them back together, I nearly swooned. Pathetic, but true. haha

  32. buyMEacoke,Jim! on September 16th, 2008 4:04 am

*sigh* Jim & Pam, Tim & Dawn.
But Ryan & Rachel? Out of this FREAKIN’ world. I think my couch melted a little when I saw that one. He is scarily sexy!

  33. Devin on June 12th, 2013 11:12 pm

What about aly michalka and gales harold in episodes 19 and 20 of hellcats?
