GMMR's TV Boo, Hiss, YAY!!! - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

GMMR’s TV Boo, Hiss, YAY!!!

October 3, 2008 by

A few nods and notes to TV musings that are making me smile and making me want to piss in your Cheerios.

BOO, HISS…

  • PUSHING DAISIES lost 55% of its viewers from last season. This makes my soul sad. The show isn’t for everyone but it’s unique and brilliant execution is truly unlike anything else on TV. Perhaps those viewers that didn’t watch didn’t know that the episode featured a shirtless Lee Pace. What can I do to get people to watch? Do I have to go out and create a Pushing Daisies site? Oh right.

YAY!

  • Jim and Pam are engaged. That is all.

BOO, HISS…

  • “London Sole” – If you know what I’m talking about then you know what I mean.

YAY!..

  • Not to bore you with the inner workings of GMMR, but I came ridiculously close to shutting down the site about a month ago. I was just overwhelmed with trying to keep things going and I didn’t feel like I was writing enough to keep you all interested. So it’s really important for me personally to give a big ‘ol YAY and a thank you to the new members of Team GMMR (Philiana, Philboy, Sarah, Seeleybaby, SB, Gretchen, Erik, Jamie, Jen, Kari, Meredith, Nicole, Randi, and Tricia). Right now the new team and I are working on covering the shows, but we have big plans for other interesting TV debates that you will all be hearing about (and will hopefully be a part of) in the near future. Plus with the new GMMR rolling out (hopefully) soon, YOU will have a lot more way to be pseudo-members of Team GMMR.

BOO, HISS…

  • Too much TV and too little time. I’m sure sure what’s going on. Maybe it’s that this is my first TV season since starting my new job. Maybe it’s that there are just too many good shows on. Most likely it’s that I’m just slowing down in my old age. But I can’t seem to keep up with my DVR no matter how hard I try. I’m weeks behind on faves such as PRISON BREAK, HEROES and T:SCC. Mr. DVR and I have a date on Sunday…I’m hoping to get lucky.

YAY!

  • My SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE tour tickets arrived yesterday with some bonuses – backstage passes. Now the pressure is on. Which routine should Ducky and I perform for the SYTYCDancers? For me it’s between Katee & Will’s “Pas de Duex” and Courtney & Mark’s jazz number to “The Garden”. Either way we are going to rock it out. My goal is to the be the next YouTube sensation.  Ah, lofty life goals.

What’s Boo, Hissing and YAYing you this week?

I can’t believe that Daisies dropped so much in viewership this year! The premiere was fantastic. All you people who aren’t watching, please give it a shot!

I totally agree with you re: London Sole. I know exactly what you’re talking about and I hate those damn shoes so much right now, lol.

  2. Susan on October 3rd, 2008 1:24 pm

I’m going to boss, his and yay almost all of your list. I can’t say that I watch so you think you can dance (don’t throw garbage at me), but I like the rest of the stuff.

I guess I will add my own boo to this season of Ugly Betty. What a mess.

  3. Tal on October 3rd, 2008 1:39 pm

I wanna BOO not getting a new office episode yesterday! made my Thursday a little less funny

  4. kari on October 3rd, 2008 2:30 pm

“London Sole”! Definite boo. I miss it terribly.

  5. Tunalicious27 on October 3rd, 2008 2:34 pm

    London Sole? Feel ya dawg.
    6 whole months? I wonder if she’s given it up forever… 🙁

  6. Jenn on October 3rd, 2008 2:39 pm

I’m going to BOO the ABC online player since I’ve been trying to watch Pushing Daisies online for like 2 days and it won’t load for me anymore 🙁
6 roomates, only 1 TV and no DVR/VCR means I pretty much watch all my TV online. I’ve resisted watching it elsewhere since ABC has it on their site, but if their player won’t work for me anymore then what’s a girl to do?

YAY for the NBC player , which last year didn’t work out so well for me, but this year is working much better 🙂 Being able to have it automatically download The Office and Chuck (and any other show that’s available) is a sweet feature.

  7. JennyL on October 3rd, 2008 2:52 pm

BOO, HISS: London Sole – I do know what you mean – and it’s been months! 6 MONTHS!

YAY!: Thank goodness for Team GMMR! Kath – I can’t imagine GMMR not being part of my tv fun. Thanks for sticking it out for us. Can’t wait to see the new site! (Although I hope thre is still a pic of Logan & Veronica!)

Here’s to a much better Thursday next week. 🙂

  8. Philiana on October 3rd, 2008 2:59 pm

    BOO: “Pushing Daisies.” ‘Nuff said.

  9. SB on October 3rd, 2008 3:19 pm

    YAY! to last night’s Supernatural!

And YAY! to what an awesome job you’re doing, Kath!

  10. Photoqueen on October 3rd, 2008 3:22 pm

So glad GMMR lives to watch and recap another day! Thanks to the Team for saving our site!

Seriously, I’m glad you didn’t close down GMMR – it’s one of my favorite sites. Even if I didn’t get to see LP w/o a shirt.

  11. spacyz on October 3rd, 2008 3:27 pm

BOO, HISS: So upset about the Pushing Daisies ratings. That just ruined my day. What a wonderful and creative show.

YAY: Team GMMR. How would us T.V. fanatics get through the day at work without the GMMR site?

YAY: The new season of Supernatural is fantastic. Not a surprise, but even better than I had expected. Ditto to Chuck, NCIS, Bones, and House that all consistently keep me entertained.

BOO, HISS: This year’s T.V. schedule with all of my shows on at the same time. It seems to be even worse than previous years.

BOO, HISS: Missing The Office this week. Who cares about government politics when we could be watching the office politics at Dundler Mifflin?

BOO, HISS: My Own Worst Enemy for not starting until mid-October. I am really hoping that it is good because there is something about Christian Slater that I can’t resist.

BOO, HISS: My DVR running out of space because it can’t handle the fall season for its owner who needs to get a life and stop watching so much T.V.

YOU GOT BACKSTAGE PASSES FOR THE SYTYCD TOUR???? So lucky.
I met them in Anaheim and they are so freaking nice.

  13. jmurae on October 3rd, 2008 4:10 pm

YAY: Team GMMR…I have been reading GMMR for a few years and I couldn’t imagine my day without it.

YAY: I have DirecTV and I got to watch the premiere of Friday Night Lights right after watching the premiere of Pushing Daisies! What a great night of television!!! I am so glad Ned, Emerson, Coach Taylor and Tim Riggins are back in my life!!

  14. Billiam on October 3rd, 2008 5:05 pm

Can I just “boo” the Nielsen ratings in general. Or perhaps the tastes of the people who own Nielsen boxes. Terminator is another show whose ratings are not so good. I throw in an extra “boo” at Fox for putting it on Mondays, but there are so many good show that struggle to find an audience (Chuck should also be doing better). And yet CBS can slap a by-the-numbers murder mystery together and people can flock to it in droves.
Also, why don’t I know a single person who has or has ever had a Nielsen box? I live in the midwest, and I suspect Nielsen doesn’t care about us.

I saw Mindy at U of I last weekend and a bunch of people asked about her blog and she said she got kicked off of it for not getting permission to use pictures or something. She said she was hopefully going to try and start it up again.
    Don’t give up hope 🙂

  16. Lisa (aka lmr) on October 3rd, 2008 6:14 pm

    YaY for team GMMR

Ditto Boo on too much TV, too little time

Boo that Kenley didn’t get kicked off Project Runway

Yay for kicka$$ kickoff of Chuck’s new season

  17. Jen on October 3rd, 2008 8:00 pm

YAY for Kristin at eonline being pregnant!

  18. Phyllis Vance on October 4th, 2008 1:36 am

Every time I see the words London Sole I made a very sad face. In fact, when I read them here I frowned, wondered why the heck I was frowning, and *then* I remembered. At least Mindy was fantastic in Weight Loss, I missed her this summer.

  19. Toast with JAM on October 4th, 2008 2:10 am

YAY: GMMR for getting some help! I’m sure all of your writers will appreciate and look forward to all of my comments (haha)

BOO: ABC online episodes for the horrible sound that keeps cutting out. ABC was the best one last season and now it is awful. The audio doesn’t match the video. CBS doesn’t show hardly any full episodes (HIMYM only 2 to choose from) and they are hard to find. I’ve been very happy with NBC. They are definitely #1 for me.

YAY: to NCIS for getting the team back together! Director Vance may just be a good guy after all. We need more Abby, though. Can’t wait to see where it goes with the bad girl who got away with murdering Jonathan LaPaglia.

BOO: to SYTYCD’s Lacey Schwimmer who needs to listen to the judges and stop being so campy.

YAY: to proposals in the rain.

YAY: to Eli Stone finally coming back this month. I guess it’s also a BOO since I’m still waiting…..

  20. joy isobel on October 4th, 2008 12:20 pm

Ughhh London Sole. Mindy’s been absent for almost six months! I’m tempted to unbookmark it… Kelly Kapoor, you have let me down.

  21. Patty on October 4th, 2008 9:42 pm

YAY! to the new GMMR team. I can always read more about TV. Even shows I don’t watch…yet.

  22. Kimber on October 5th, 2008 4:28 pm

Definitely seconding that “boo, hiss” for the Pushing Daisies thing. WTF world?!? I just don’t *get* how people can’t love this show as much as I do. And it makes my heart sad that the ratings dropped so significantly. Bryan Fuller is such a frakkin’ genius, and seeing how little attention the wonder of Wonderfalls, and the awesomeness of Dead Like Me got … *sigh*

Also – you and Ducky performing a SYTYCD dance? Can we possibly see that? Any vidcams going with you backstage?!? For the record, I loved “The Garden” number … brilliance. Also “the bed dance” that Twitch and Kherington did. Good stuff.

  23. Meg on October 5th, 2008 9:33 pm

So with you on London Sole. Perhaps the economy has got Mindy down too?

  24. Harper47 on October 6th, 2008 11:35 am

I say go with the Courtney/Mark Garden Jazz. Have fun at the tour!

I join the boos for schedule everything on Monday and Thursday, leaving Wednesday a virtual wasteland. And a special boo for Project Runway and it’s lame, horrid season. Bring back Chris March and Christian. And how about booting losers even if they are “drama divas”.
