Bad News: Enemy & Jungle; Good News: Privileged

November 13, 2008 by

So NBC just pulled the plug on the low rated LIPSTICK JUNGLE and the Christian Slater drama, MY OWN WORST ENEMY.  Oh well.  Odds are that you probably didn’t watch either of these shows anyway.  I wonder what magical and ground breaking new television show Ben Silverman has stolen from overseas up his sleeve.

In much better news, I’m happy to report that PRIVILEGED has been picked up for 5 additional episodes.  Clearly they were hoping for the full back 9, but I’m sure they’re not complaining. And in a show of support, the CW is going to air original episodes of PRIVILEGED after GOSSIP GIRL for the first two weeks in December.  That’s pretty sweet.  Maybe some GOSSIP GIRLers will find their way to PRIVILEGED.

As we get closer to the launch of the midseason shows, we are going to unfortunately (or fortunately) be hearing a lot more shows being canceled. TV is a such a fickle place.

    Man, NBC, this is bad.

Even worse news, BJ Novak is leaving The Office. NBC is having a really bad day.

Hey, I liked Lipstick Jungle. But I knew something was up when they changed it to Fridays.

I’m really happy to hear they’ve ordered more episodes of Privileged. I think it’s the biggest breathe of fresh air on TV this fall.

I also saw that BJ Novak is going on leave from the Office for a few episodes to do a Tarantino movie, and that he may or may not return — and that if he does, it may only be as a writer. As much as I love the Office, I’m not that heartbroken about it, because they haven’t really done anything with his character this season.

I loved Lipstick Jungle. Now I fell terrible, not only is it being canceled, but I have told so many people about how addicting it is, I’m going to have a lot of friends that will be disappointed too.

When will NBC realize that the days of Must See TV are gone and never coming back. They aren’t going to get the Friends/Seinfeld ratings that they once had. People are busy. They TiVo, they watch more prime time cable shows and the NetFlix anything they have missed.

They’re airing episodes of Privileged after Gossip Girl? When will that start? Is One Tree Hill moving to another night?

And when is BJ Novak leaving The Office?! I heard they were looking for a new receptionist, but I thought he’d still be around… Is he still doing things behind the scenes or gone for good?

I have watched My Own Worst Enemy and after this week’s episode I thought it should be cancelled because it’s just not good.
Lipstick Jungle however is one of my favorites. I look forward to watching it and now it will be gone.
So that means I gave up on Heroes, now am losing My Own Worst Enemy and Lipstick Jungle. Hmm, I will actually start having some time to go back to school now.
I am so glad that Privileged is getting a few more episodes. I like this show ALOT. From what I have heard about Gossip Girl I would think this show is the anti-Gossip Girl so I didn’t think it would pair well but I am hoping it does.

I’ve been watching My Own Worst Enemy. It had flaws certianly, but it was watchable. If this is the only show I watch that I lose this year I’ll consider myself lucky!!

And say it aint so – first we lose Mose, then Ryan?!

I am literally holding my breath, waiting to hear news about Pushing Daisies … I heard that ABC had canned “Private Practice”, so if they let go of something Shonda Rhimes touched, what will happen to the love child of the awesome Bryan Fuller??

Never watched My Own Worst Enemy or Lipstick Jungle, so can’t say I’m sad about either. Any news of Chuck?!?

  9. Ashley on November 13th, 2008 11:13 am

I was really into Lipstick Jungle this season, especially Victory and Joe. I hope we get to at least see a resolution to the storylines.

  10. Alyson on November 13th, 2008 11:42 am

Kimber — Where did you hear that Private Practice was given the ax? I have yet to hear that one, though I wouldn’t be that surprised.

  11. Maria on November 13th, 2008 12:16 pm

Aw, I’m sad. Lipstick has become a favorite of mine this year. Apparently I’m addicted to bad tv b/c about 1/2 the shows I watch are either being canceled, or are on the verge. I guess I’ll actually have to attempt to have a life now.

  12. Give Me My Remote on November 13th, 2008 12:18 pm

Kimber – That is not true about PRIVATE PRACTICE. The show is going to be moved to Thursday night’s behind Grey’s Anatomy.

Whoops! My bad. Sorry, GMMR and fans – I shouldn’t have spoken without confirmation. A friend told me it had been “given the boot”, but she meant from its regular night – NOT from TVland. Again – sorry! And thanks for the correction, GMMR.

My friend passed me more BJ Novak news. Take a look on EW.com. There should be some there (I’d post the link, but it’s too big to fit in the comment box!). It doesn’t sound good, folks. A “leave of absence” but we don’t know if and when he’s coming back??

  15. Becca on November 13th, 2008 2:58 pm

The only thing I care about is that Privileged was picked up for more episodes. GMMR, why only five and not the four extra to give it a full season?
