What to Watch…Thursday, November 13, 2008

November 13, 2008 by

Happy Thursday!!  We’ve got a big night of TV ahead of us.  Or should I say you’ve got a big night of TV ahead of you.  I, sadly, will probably miss a lot of television tonight.  My friend Stephanie arrived here in L.A. from Boston last night so I don’t think we’ll be crowding around the TV.  There’s a lot of exploring to do, restaurants to visit, and wine to drink.  But I’ll be sure to catch up on Hulu tomorrow.

We’ve got a fun day planned.  This afternoon we’re heading over to the Warner Bros lot to have lunch with a few of the press reps that provide GMMR with news tidbits, vids, etc.  A fab group of people so I’m looking forward to it.  Then Steph and I are going to jump in a golf cart and get a private tour of the WB lot – how fun?! Hopefully there will be a few celeb sightngs.  It’s going to be particulary heartbreaking to drive by the PUSHING DAISIES set knowing that today is their lst day of filming (not canceled yet but not picked up yet either).

Have I mentioned I love L.A.?  Yeah?  Ok, I just wanted to be sure.

Just to let some people know: here in Boston all ABC programming is delayed until after Jimmy tonight and tomorrow. Grey’s tonight and Life on Mars and Ugly Betty tomorrow. Booo! But it does make my TV viewing light tonight.

For once, I’ll be watching “The Office” tonight, since Michael is going to Winnipeg! (Where I live!!). Unfortunately the cast didn’t really make the trip to Canada, but it will still be cool to *think* they were here, and see all the still shots and materials our government sent. Yay!

Oh, and 30 Rock for sure!

ER was soooo good! It made me miss the good ole days seeing all the cameos. Makes you realize just how much the personnel has changed at County General, just like a real job. It was a really well-written episode and I think they are doing this series justice the way they are ending it this year. Seeing Eriq LaSalle’s tribute to Michael Chriton was moving as well.

One show that you never mention, not unexpectedly, is Criminal Minds. I really like this show a lot! It is like NCIS was for a while. One of those really good shows that flies under the radar. Glad to see that NCIS is being recognized now.

Criminal Minds is getting better and better the way they incorporate personal parts of the agents into some of the cases and not just a straight procedural. This week’s episode was one of my favorites with Spencer’s parents and their 20-year old secret that broke up their family. The actor that plays Spencer (Matthew Gray Gubler, thanks imdb) is sooo good and definitely gives the show that “something” special. Him and Garcia are like the glue for that show. Shemar Moore is the eye candy for sure.

It’s also nice that they have more than one strong female character. Most of the time they have their one token female, but this show actually has 3 and this week, with JJ going into labor they had 4!

I feel such satisfaction when they find the unsub, which sometimes sometimes turns out really isn’t a bad guy. The episode with Frankie Muniz was so horrifyingly great. I’m surprised he didn’t get Emmy nominated for guest starring.

Also, this show feels like a public service annoucement for the specific behaviors to look out for and the safety precautions to take in our homes to make us less likely to be a target of something bad.

Watch it in the afternoon if you have to…just watch it!

apologies that this is a Thursday-night thread and I’m talking about Criminal Minds which is on some other day. I don’t pay much attention to the schedules. I use my DVR and watch when I have time. Maybe it’s on Wednesdays? Just go find it!

I jus heard the best news ever while reading about a new show in the UK called Gordon Ramsay The Great British Food Fight. He has made new episodes of Ramsay’s kitchen Nightmares – the UK edition! This is the best show ever – can wait to see (download) them!
