Rashida Jones Coming Back to NBC - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Rashida Jones Coming Back to NBC

November 18, 2008 by

Rashida Jones is coming back to a buzzed about NBC comedy.  But don’t fret Jim and Pam fans, ‘shida isn’t going to be messing with the golden couple.   Ms. Jones will be joining “The Untitled Amy Poehler Project” aka (or better – formerly known as) The Office non-spinoff.

Rashida was rumored to be joining the cast way back in the day when Executive Producers Greg Daniels and Michael Schur were still considering a true Dunder Mifflin spinoff, but no official word came out until today.

The New York Post spat out the casting news this morning on their Page Six blog, but with the news item also came a little bit about how Rashida and John Krasinski (sorry I didn’t like the way that looked) Rashida and former OFFICE co-star, John Krasinski, started dating after they met on set.  Since Page Six got the news of their romantic meeting wrong, I wondered about the validity of the casting scoop too.  But OfficeTally.com has confirmed with Michael Schur that Rashida will indeed be joining the show and that she will be playing a nurse named Ann.

Are you excited about Rashida coming back to TV.  I am!!  Woo to the Hoo!!  I’m excited for the Amy Poehler show in general so this just added to it.

(And no, I don’t know the romantic status of Rashida and John, an no…I don’t want to discuss it either.)

Haha. After HIMYM last night, GMMR, you’ve just proved yourself to be a “Woo girl.”

Btw, is the Amy Poehler project still “The Office spin-off”? I’ve heard some really up and down things about that.

PS – I say “Woo girl” in a good way. 🙂 Anything HIMYM-related is a good thing.

I really want to like Rashida. But every time I look at her, I see Karen. I know she’s not Karen. I know Karen is no longer (nor was she ever really) a threat to my all-time favorite couple. But, those were just such dark times for my little ‘Office’-obsessed heart that I just can’t help but associating Rashida with it. Plus there’s the whole “is she or is she not” dating Krasinski? (Sorry, GMMR, I won’t discuss it further) Even if she’s not, I’m still jealous of her close friendship with him and, yes, I am a big enough loser to admit that 🙂

    former OFFICE co-star, John Krasinski?

Yes, as she is no longer on The Office, John is her former co-star. Wait, is that grammatically incorrect? Probably.

I’m sure that Rashida is a nice person and everything but her acting has been “meh” for me. She has been pretty one-note in most of her projects. Plus, with all the up-and-coming actresses in Hollywood, could Greg and Mike *not* cast Rashida? I mean, they knew that she going to be associated with Karen just by having in the show, even if her character is completely different. And this is just my opinion, but she’s better in drama roles than comedic ones.

I’ll watch to see but it doesn’t make me any more excited for the show.

I know it’s totally unfair to Rashida, but she’s really tied to Karen for me, and I’ve never seen her in a role that I liked. I love everyone else who is signed onto this project but the addition of Rashida to the cast really affects it negatively for me. I feel terrible about that, but season three was… not a happy time in Office history for me, and she really reminds me of that.

It’s funny! I heard the news on Officetally and immediately my mind wondered if Rashida and Mr. Krasinksi were dating. I was actually thinking about emailing you if that is possible, but then I read your blog and you answered my question already. I think she will be a good addition to this show, bring down to earth or something, I’m just guessing..
