Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Thursday, January 22, 2009

January 22, 2009 by

Can you stand all the awesome TV that’s been on lately?!  It’s crazy…crazy good.  It’s already been a busy TV week and now we are at Thursday, so don’t expect things to ease up.

Just a reminder that tonight’s is the winter premiere of BURN NOTICE on USA so definitely check that out.  And BONES is back with not one, but two new episodes tonight. What a treat for fans that have been waiting months for a new episode.

Lots and lots to choose from. What will YOU be watching?

Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Sisters on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”
A family crisis finds Betty torn between work and home, putting her at odds with Hilda; Daniel, Molly, Connor and Wilhelmina try to conceal their escalating love connections

Bones | 8pm on Fox
“Double Trouble in the Panhandle”
The death of a set of female conjoined twins who worked in the circus is investigated. The investigation leads Brennan and Booth to go undercover as a Canadian knife-throwing act, and also causes Booth to come face-to-face with a clown. Guest star Andy Richter.

Bones| 9pm on Fox
“The Fire in the Ice”
Booth may face a trip to a different kind of penalty box when he becomes a suspect in the murder of a rival ice-hockey player with whom he has a history of fighting, and Brennan gets a new FBI partner (Marisa Coughlan) for the case. Former NHL great Luc Robitaille guest stars as himself.

The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Prince Family Paper”

Michael and Dwight go under cover to learn about a competitor; employees hold a debate to decide whether actress Hilary Swank is hot. [GMMR: Um, I have to feel for Hilary Swank here. That’s got to be awkward and uncomfotable for her to watch on a number of levels.]

Grey’s Anatomy | 9pm on ABC
Stairway to Heaven”
Everyone in the hospital tries to find a new organ donor for a patient; Mark is left in a compromising position; Cristina tries to avoid Owen.

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
Criss Angel Is a Douche Bag”
A mysterious death brings Dean and Sam to a town full of magicians; Sam and Dean must reverse a spell. [GMMR: Congratulations to Supernatural for having perhaps the single best episode title in the history of telelvision.  That’s genius and quite appropriate.]

30 Rock | 9:30pm on NBC
Retreat to Move Forward”
Jack, nervous about attending a corporate retreat, persuades Liz to accompany him for support; when Jenna decides to use method acting to prepare for a role she finds herself at Frank’s mercy.

Private Practice | 10pm on ABC
Nothing to Fear”
Violet discovers she’s pregnant, but isn’t sure who the father is; after a kiss with Wyatt, Addison struggles with a guilty conscience; Charlotte proposes to Cooper.

ER | 10pm on NBC
Love Is a Battlefield”
Morris tries to help a girl who was hit while riding her bike; Gates can’t get over his feelings for Sam; Neela is flustered when Dr. Brenner returns from Australia.

Burn Notice | 10pm on USA | Winter Premiere
“Do No Harm

Having narrowly escaped death, Michael decides to help a desperate father recover money from a medical scam artist; Fiona and Sam pay the price when Michael is under pressure to find the person who tried to kill him.

Also playing…

  • Smallville | 8pm on The CW: Clark learns that John Jones was shot while working as a police officer; Lana tells Tess that Lex isn’t the man she thinks he is, forcing Tess to re-evaluate her position as head of Luthercorp.
  • My Name is Earl | 8:00pm on NBC: After Joy blows his witness protection cover, Darnell must pack up the family and assume a new identity; Catalina, Earl and Randy make a devastating discovery.
  • Kath & Kim | 8:30pm on NBC: Kim decides she wants to be the new anchor for the local news, and Kath does everything she can to make sure it happens.
  • CSI | 9pm on CBS: Dr. Langston’s first day on the job goes from bad to worse when a simple burglary case quickly overlaps a complicated arson and homicide case.
  • Eleventh Hour | 10pm on CBS: A boy’s kidney tumor miraculously disappears after he drinks from a natural spring, and Jacob rushes to the scene to debunk what he believes to be a fraudulent cure.

I want to once again remind everyone that if they would like to see GMMR in the more traditional blog format (all the posts one right after another; view number of comments left on a post), all you have to do is click BLOG at the top of the page.

Although there are sometimes special announcements on the home page, you can bypass it all together and just get to the stories.

I’m going to keep sharing this reminder from time to time because I think people are still a bit confused.

Wow, you have to be kidding me. The second hour of primetime on Thursday nights is always bad enough, but now there are actually five shows on that I want to watch with Bones added into the mix.

Yes, tonight is crazy! With two new Bones eps, I’m going to have a lot left over for the weekend (which is never a bad thing). Can I just say that I cannot believe that Kath & Kim is still on the air?!?!? I watched the first two episodes, hoping I would like it, and just couldn’t take it anymore. Seeing shows like that given such chances while shows like Pushing Daisies get canceled is just really disappointing.

Okay, chin up, focus on the positive: Criss Angel is a Douche Bag. Can. Not. Wait!!!!
