Rest In Peace Kim Manners

January 27, 2009 by

I’m sad to pass on the news that SUPERNATURAL executive producer & director Kim Manners passed away on Sunday night in Los Angeles, following a battle with cancer.

In addition to his work on Supernatural, Mr. Manners also worked on many other TV shows including “21 Jump Street” and “The X Files”

Below is a statement from “Supernatural” creator & executive producer Eric Kripke:

Everyone at ‘Supernatural’ is walking around in a daze, shocked and absolutely devastated. Kim was a brilliant director; more than that, he was a mentor and friend. He was one of the patriarchs of the family, and we miss him desperately. He gave so much to ‘Supernatural,’ and everything we do on the show, now and forever, is in memory of him.

Rae from RamblingsofaTVWhore.com had the chance to meet Mr. Manners during a visit to the set. Here she shares her personal feelings thougts on his passing.

It makes me sad to read this. I loved all of Kim Manners work on the X-Files, by far some of my fave episodes are from him.

Last night there was small service held in his memory in Vancouver BC (most of the his shows were filmed here) and he will be missed by all of us that worked with him in Vancouver!!

I was shocked to see this – I’ve been a big fan of Kim-directed episodes of Supernatural, and in everything I’ve seen in interviews, behind-the-scenes videos, etc., it was evident that he was a huge part of the show and everyone there loved him. A sad day for everyone involved.

This makes me so sad. Kim Manners was involved in all of my favorite X-Files and Supernatural episodes. He was always great to see in the behind the scenes stuff, too. He had a great energy and I will miss his contributions to television. My thoughts go out to his family.

[…] same joy as before when one of their family members is gone, and I feel for them. Kath has posted a separate place to pay respects to Mr. Manners, so I thought it best to keep my review separate from that, but please do find your way over there […]
