SOUTHLAND Picked Up for 13 Episodes

May 2, 2009 by

Despite a slip in the ratings since its debut, NBC has picked up their new cop drama SOUTHLAND for at least 13 episodes in the 09-’10 TV season.  I’ve been watching SOUTHLAND and really liking what I’m seeing.  This pick-up news delights me.

GMMR readers were feeling pretty good about SOUTHLAND after the premiere. Are you still watching?

I am still watching. This last week’s episode was the leat intersting to me. This may because all the detectives except the balck female detective have no appeal to me.

On the uniform side the only one I don’t care for is the loser with 2 stripes who was handcuffed a couple weeks ago.

I don’t watch the show (it’s just really hard for me to sit down and watch a pretty standard-looking police procedural), so I can’t comment on its quality. But all I can think is “that’s one less hour that would be available for Chuck.”

Southland is the best new show I’ve seen in quite some time. Excellent writing, acting and production. One can only hope it runs as long as ER.

I haven’t missed an episode, yet. I really like what I see so far. I watched ER when it first started, too – but when some of the original cast left – I felt they ‘ruined’ it. I hope they don’t make that same mistake with Southland…

I haven’t missed an episode yet! I love it.

And what really makes me know that its a good show is that I started watching for a pretty lame reason, to see Ben McKenzie…and last week I didn’t even notice he didn’t make an appearance in the episode at all until it was 5 minutes from the end. I am totally and completely hooked on the characters and the stories.

And I love the cast….Cudlitz, Regina King, C Thomas Howell, Alejandro, Tom Everett Scott. It’s such a talented group!!

I love this new show. I am so glad more episodes are on the horizon. I really pick and chose my prime time viewing. Thank you from a fan of NYPD Blue, this new show is great. However NOTHING could top NYPD Blue. Miss you Sipowitz.
