Who Went Home on AMERICAN IDOL?

Next week is the big AMERICAN IDOL finale, but I’ll be honest, I think I’m more excited about tonight’s results show. It won’t be long until we find out if it will be Adam/Danny, Kris/Danny, or Adam/Kris in the finale. I can’t stand it.

9:02pm: Ben Stiller and some of his co-stars from his night at the museum kick off tonight’s show. I thought all this over-the-top promotional crap was kept until the finale. Ugh.
9:03pm: Ryan tells us that over 88M votes came in last night. It seems that only about 1M votes separated the top two guys tonight. Interesting. I voted for almost two straight hours for Kris Allen (with a few votes going to Adam for good measure). I did my part. Did you?
9:06pm: Alicia Keyes takes the stage to let us know there are problems in Africa. Really? Ok. Want to help? Text: “ALIVE” to 90999 to help children in Rwanda. I am a horrible person, but what?! IDOL nixed ‘Idol Gives Back’ this year and tonight’s performance by this little kid is supposed to make up for it? Weak. God, I am the worst.
9:14pm: Ryan has the cards in hand. All three guys are back stage. He brings out The Gokey first. My heart just dropped. If he is out first does that mean he is safe? Someone hold me. I’m going to throw up. I hate these nerves.
First we’re going home with The Gokey. So overwhelming. I’m already tearing up, It’s going to be a long night.
9:19pm: Whew…ok, we’re just doing the hometown visits now. Not sending anyone to safety just yet. Breathing once again. Time to go home with Kris Allen. Hmm, I’d like to go home with Kris Allen. Crying again. Goodness I need to pull it together.
9:30pm: Jordin Sparks takes the stage. You know how I know she’s special? She got Adam Lambert’s special blue light. Jordin is looking and sounding fantastic! She came out of the gate pretty fast but I haven’t heard much of her lately on the old radio. This song is pretty good, but one again the back-up singers need to back the frak up. They are too loud. Shut it ‘shida! I’m no record producer but I think that song would be a lot stronger with a little going on. Jordin has the chops, don’t drown her out with the arrangement. Who am I, Kara? God I hope not.
9:35pm: Promo for GLEE. I hope you all watch next week after IDOL. I’m obsessed. Waiting to Fall for the second episode is going to kill me.
9:38pm: It’s time to go back to San Diego with Adam Lambert. I didn’t cry. That was a homecoming fail obviously. Ha!
9:48pm: Ryan joins the guys on the couch and fill time as Katy Perry finishes getting set up.
Known for her outrageous outfits, Katy takes the stage as a sexy Elvis, complete with a cape emblazoned with “Adam Lambert”. I wonder who she wants to win?! Ha ha! Love it!
Her performance was fun, but I’m with Danny…let’s just get on with it. Who is going home and who is moving on to the finale?
9:56pm: The moment is here. Take a deep breathe.
Moving on to the AMERICAN IDOL finale is Kris Allen!!!! OH. MY. GOD!!!
…and Adam Lambert!!!
YES! YES! YES! YES!
I am in complete and utter shock right now. Did that really just happen? Did Kris Allen just beat out Danny Gokey for a place in the finale. YES. HE. DID.
Kudos to Danny. He’s a talented guy. Maybe he’s not the type of artist I respond to, but he certainly had a strong fanbase and that means something.
But back to Kris and Adam in the finale. Are you kidding me?! Take that producers. And get this — only 1M votes separated Kris and Adam. As I stated earlier today, there’s a really good chance that Danny’s votes could go to Kris which means it’s anyone’s game next week. Ok, I’m done now. Off to join in the celebration in the comments!!!

At this point, I’d be happy with either winning. And I honestly think that they are happy with the other winning. They seem like really great friends and are just having fun.

Uh. Kris looks like a goat when he sings. Him an adam are in completely different leagues. Adam could wipe the floor with kris. No lie. If either of the two are going to get all the teenage girl votes its kris. Adam lambert is amazing. He reminds me of steven tyler. He’s definately the best singer that’s ever been on idol. So get over it goat fans.
I’m sick to my stomach right now. I find Kris terribly boring and Danny should have been in the finale with Adam. I may never watch this show again.
I haven’t really been watching this season but have seen bits and pieces of the performers. I agree that Adam is very talented and no matter what happens next week will get a record deal. But for me, I like Kris as a musician/singer much more and I think he actually could benefit more if he became the American Idol. I think I may actually have to vote next week!

I had to read this before watching, because I wanted to prepare my gag reflex if I knew I was going to have to watch Kris or Adam go home in favour of unjustly smug “Dream On” murderer Gokey. Sorry to Gokey fans…but you could SEE the d-bag vapours rising up from his being whenever he was on camera.
Anyhow, now I cannot wait to go watch this on the dvr!!! I’m an Adam fan all the way, but Kris is awesome too, so the finale is going to be fab. Were the judges really shocked and awed that their homeboy was sent packing? THAT is what I’m most excited to see when I watch; well that and Adam and Kris celebrating their much deserved victory together. Yay for good taste!

I loved his performances last night !! ok and adam been in like the botom 2 like the last 3 weeks so he is not getting the big votes that the judges want .. im a teenage girl and idk the girls i know love kris or danny never adam.. i wished he went home i just cant stand his singing in my opinion im not into screamers

I voted for kris and danny.I voted for danny just because I knew adam was gon get thru anyway.if adam would have got sent home he would have gotten a record deal anyway. So wat the hell.but kris is gon win.holla
does no one else think that Adam is a very bad drag queen? Yes he is a great singer, i’ll give him that. But seriously, he’s so dramatic. All he did was scream last night. I love my Danny, but I suppose I’ll vote for Kris, anything to keep Adam from winning.
I am so glad that Danny is going home, I couldn’t stand him! Adam is my fav and I’m so glad Kris made it through! I will be happy with whoever wins!
I liked all 3 of them but i dont look at it as who i want to win i look at it as whoo i want to hear more out of… All 3 will get a record deal but we will hear more out of the one who doesnt one… i would had rather danny won becauce i want to hear kris and adam more then him.
It’s pretty obvious that Adam is the best American Idol contestant ever! No one else comes even close! He is an amazing singer! That itself is understatement. However, that doesn’t mean that he will win it all! Kris has a fighting chance! It’s anyone’s game!

Not gonna lie–I’m disappointed. Minus the “Dream On” performance, Danny was amazing…I might be slightly biased because I am from Milwaukee too, and I saw him live here when he visited home (and he was AWESOME!)…Seriously though, I’m going to waste my life away and vote for Kris as much as possible next week, because Adam Lambert is a total creep. He might have a good voice, but seriously…who wants to look at him? He kind of makes me throw up a little in my mouth. The dramatics and bad drag queen attire needs to go. Kris is way more talented overall anyway.
Ok, I hope Kris wins, but, even for a weird columbine looking strangeoid, adam does have some pipes on him, and he has a blast doing it. And why would a bunch of teenage girls go GA-GA over that dude? More like teenage boys who are likely to turn into mass murderers.

Sooo happy with the results tonight!!! Loved Adam from before Idol and loved Kris the moment he sang “Man in the Mirror”. Sooo great!!!! I spent all of two hours last night voting for Adam. CA hometowns are hard, remember Katherine McPhee. I think he would have had a bigger turnout in LA. Anyway I am looking forward to next weeks finale. I’m voting for Adam, but I love Kris too so I wouldn’t be upset. They both deserve to be in the finale. It’s been a good season for Idol. One of the best.

Did anyone notice that Jordin Sparks lost her ring towards the end of the song? She made a gesture with her left hand and the ring just flew away from her finger, watch the video carefully and you will notice it…
My Kris is in the finale and that’s all I cared about – I ‘squeeeeeeed’ at the TV. Adam can win, that’s okay, but runner up ain’t a bad thing for Kris. Danny was an early fave of mine but he didn’t hold up well for me. The judges seemed shocked and not that happy about Kris, that’s too bad, but America got it right this time.
Yes he is a great singer, i’ll give him that. But seriously, he’s so dramatic.
I agree with lynda. No one can deny the talent of Adam Lambert but he is SOOOOO hard to take sometimes. For me, it hurt to watch Danny leave last night. I know this is a minority opinion here, but I connected with Danny from his first audition and stayed that way throughout the season. I know people grew tired of his story, but if that had been me… if I had just lost my spouse… I would barely be able to get out of bed 10 months later, much less get up on a stage in front of millions of people every week and do what he has done. Did the right two make the finale? Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed that Danny isn’t going to be there. So my votes are going to Kris Allen, for sure.
Vote for Kris!!! America will be a lesser place if Sir Scream-a-lot wins.
Just wanted to let you know that I have really been enjoying your blog. I am a much older (50) Idol fan, and found your blog when I missed Adam’s Mad, Mad World performance on the show that got cut off. I agree with you about Kris! I think he can win it all. I’m over Adam–he’s got great talent but he’s a little too Broadway/Vegas for me. I loved Danny and know he will be successful no matter what so I’m rooting for Kris to take it all! Thanks for the fun and interesting comments!

For the first time ever I don’t care who wins at all. My two favorites are in the finals and I truly think both deserve to be there (as does Allison, but that’s over and done with).
I can’t imagine that Kris will win but I’m ok with that. I bet even Kris is ok with that at this point.
