SCRUBS Renewed by ABC

May 15, 2009 by

Really? Ok.  ABC will announced that despite its final feeling finale, SCRUBS will return next season. Both Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke have supposedly agreed to return for six episodes next season. According to THRfeed.com, “Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn have closed deals to continue as regulars. Judy Reyes was not been approached, but may guest star.”  Huh? Carla only guest starring? How does that work?

Personally I don’t get it. Why have such a lavish finale only to bring the show back? Despite the naysayers, it’s not like ABC gave the show much more respect than NBC.  Yes, it was definitely promoted more (at first), but the show moved around the schedule from week to week. Tuesdays two episodes, some weeks just one.  Other weeks it was on Wednesdays. Confusing.

I know SCRUBS has a large fanbase but I think they should have let this show go out in style.

Are you happy about the return of SCRUBS next season?  Chime in below.

Yeah, I’ve been a Scrubs fan since they began, but it’s been painful to watch the last couple seasons. I couldn’t wait for it to end. I’m really disappointed they didn’t let it die when it should’ve. It’s already been at least a season too long. It’s not at all enjoyable to watch anymore. And though I’ll be dreading it and cringing while I watch, I feel beholden to watch it again, despite everything. Yuck! There are so many great shows that need renewed – why choose Scrubs?

I’m not happy it’s coming back. I will feel obligated to watch for a sense of closure and out of habit/loyalty, and I’d rather have that time in my schedule for something else.

I’m very disappointed that it was picked up. I probably won’t watch, just so that I can remember it as the finale let us have it. This all came down to the money. The more seasons, the more money there is for syndication. Grr.

Not a good idea. The finale was perfect. So much for going out on top.

I very much enjoyed season 8, but didn’t feel there was any reason for it to come back.
This is the rare instant where fans mostly DON’T want a show to get renewed again.

And my biggest concern was whether or not they would be keeping the intern Denise, who is easily the best of the new blood. And is it still going to be focusing on the new interns?

I’m looking forward to this new season. I just enjoy comedy that’s funny, and I’ve enjoyed all seasons of Scrubs so far. So Scrubs will focus around new characters? At least it’ll be funny. I’d rather that, than create a brand new show set in a hospital with the same type of human, and completely name it something different.
I wish the continuation of the show all the best, and I hope it’s really funny. But I always seem to have this bad habit of giving everything the benefit of the doubt, and hoping for the best, rather than assuming it will be bad before it has begun.
(Apologies, that comment was not directed at anybody in particular, I just recently came from a page of people who love to put down good shows for no reason, as if it’s ‘cool’ to do so, or something. I find it’s far easier to enjoy books, television, and LIFE when you look for the best in everything)

OH let this show GO. The most annoying show for older people to watch!!!
Why are the young running what is showing on television nowadays. I know, we are in the minority….but..some of these shows are mindless….

Oh, I’m so disappointed. The finale was great and it should’ve been allowed to go out as it did. Ugh.

I’ll second that “Really? Ok”. because I was actually hoping it wouldn’t return. It’s the only one of “my shows” that I was happy to let go. The finale was fantastic, and in my mind it was how the show should have ended. So, sadly, I won’t be returning to watch next season.

I agree with most said above. I thought the finale was a great way to end the series. I have been watching out of loyalty mostly, these last few seasons haven’t been their best. And now I don’t know what I’ll do about next season. The show has it’s great moments, but the stories have been played out. I will feel obigated to watch, but I want to remember it as it went out this past season. I’m conflicted.

Well, I thought the Finale was good, and I would have been happy to let the show end there. However, it seems that the show is returning for a ninth season, Ill be happy to watch it; seeing as I enjoyed the show from the beginning. I suppose I have the same problem as Mattburgess, I like giving the benefit of the doubt to shows I have yet to see. I guess the people who refuse to watch the show simply because it was renewed never really enjoyed the show in the first place.
