Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Tuesday, May 19, 2008

Warm up those vocals chords and put the dancing shoes on because the music is taking over TV on this Tuesday evening, and it’s taking over in a big way.

Tonight is the final performance night of AMERICAN IDOL.  Tomorrow night the winner is revealed.  Can you stand it?  And right after IDOL is the one-night preview of GLEE. We’ll have more on the show tomorrow so make sure you check back.  And although it’s not a favorite of mine, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention tonight’s season finale of DANCING WITH THE STARS.  It’s a musical bonanza!

(Oh and there are other non-musical shows on too…we should probably mention them as well.)

American Idol | 8pm on Fox | Season Finale Part I
Kris Allen and Adam Lambert perform for the last time in competition. Tonight you will vote and decide who will be the next AMERICAN IDOL.[GMMR: Me? I’ll be voting for both guys. Honestly it doesn’t matter to me at all who wins. If Kris wins it will be a big shocker, but either way I’m going to be happy. I think both those guys will be too.]

Glee | 9pm on Fox | Special Preview Event
“Pilot”
Musical comedy-drama about the misfits who make up a high-school glee club and the teacher who leads them, a one-time glee-club star himself. [GMMR: I’m not sure if everyone is aware, but GLEE doesn’t start its season until the Fall. Tonight is just a preview episode. It’s not a summer show. More on GLEE later today.]

The Mentalist | 9pm on CBS | Season Finale
“Red John’s Footsteps”
The team investigates the murder of a girl and the abduction of her sister; Lisbon thinks Patrick is being drawn into a trap.

My Boys | 10:30pm on TBS
“Friends of Friends”
A new friend trend stirs up the gang’s dynamic when PJ forms a fast bond with one of Stephanie’s pals. In addition, Kenny and Mike befriend a customer, a counselor whom Andy despises. Meanwhile, Brendan deals with an unreliable business partner.

• Reaper | 8pm on The CW: The Devil places Sam in a company that is a front for capturing souls. Also: Sam receives a message from his dad in hell with information about possibly escaping his deal with Satan.

• NCIS | 8pm on CBS | Season Finale: The team travels to Israel, where Ziva has an uneasy reunion with her father (Michael Nouri); Tony has a confrontation with Rivkin; and Gibbs makes an important decision that reverberates throughout NCIS.

• Dancing with the Stars | 8pm on ABC | 3-hr Season Finale: Results show. Another celebrity and dance partner are voted off.

• 90210 | 9pm on The CW | Season Finale: Naomi throws a post-prom party at her place and has a fit when she walks in on Liam and Annie, making accusations that push Annie to her breaking point. Meanwhile, Brenda (Shannen Doherty) goes to the hospital to see Adrianna as she delivers the baby, and Dixon and Ethan get into a fight over Silver.

• Law & Order: SVU | 10pm on NBC: A plaintiff seeking a restraining order provokes an odd request from a judge (Alan Dale): He wants detectives to question a convicted serial killer about his son’s kidnapping, which occurred 30 years ago.

• Without a Trace | 10pm on CBS | Series Finale: In the seventh-season finale (and most likely the show’s series finale), the agents search for a man who vanished after a late-night ocean dive. Meanwhile, Danny and Elena’s relationship deepens.
