Warehouse 13

Remember two weeks ago when I said that one thing I liked about the show was that there weren’t any bad guys? Well, we had one tonight, didn’t we?!

But, BingoMania, I thought it worked. In fact, I thought the whole episode worked. It was def my fave of the season. I want a hammock in the warehouse. All the cool stuff happens there (and, as my friend Lauren said, the cookies in the warehouse always look fantastic).

The show and writers have embraced quirkiness, and I for one couldn’t be more pleased. Why the heck not, right? It plays to the strengths of the actors and genre. It’s summer. I want to laugh and be intrigued, and this show does both for me.

Our artifact/case for the week involved a Native American robe that, when worn, allowed the wearer to pass through walls. In this case, to steal a series of art/artifacts in order to gain ultimate power over rock, water, fire and wind. Freaky!

And this episode picked back up with more character interaction, just like I wished for last week. Artie + Claudia, Pete + Myka, Artie + Myka, etc, etc. And I didn’t even mind Leena hanging out. My heart was warmed when Myka said “Hey, partner” to Pete in the hospital room, and their banter about ‘dating’ and ‘smiling’ made me happy. The episode ran on the engine of character growth, not just funky gadgets, and for it to succeed in the long run, this is how the writers need to operate.

Are you enjoying the Pete and Myka dynamic as much as I am? I am pleased that in this episode, they kicked butt (Pete, especially). Finally an episode that showed why they might have been chosen for the Warehouse in the first place. And maybe I’m spoiled by BONES, but I wanted a little Pete and Myka moment at the end of the episode. Just something friendshippy that tied up their bantering thread from the ep.

I wasn’t 100% sure how I’d feel about Claudia sticking around, although I suppose it was pretty inevitable. But tonight’s episode proved that she’ll be a worthy addition to the group. Do you agree? I’m not convinced that Joshua is totally out of the picture, but maybe I’m reading too much into it.

Quick Question; Does anyone know anything about that print at the B&B? The one with the face and the tree superimposed? I loved it! And another quick question…was that Lacell guy ever recovered, or is he stuck in the wall for life? That would suck.

There were a lot of lines I loved, but I think I liked this most:

Myka: She’s out of your league.

Pete: How do you know what my league is?

Myka: Not that I asked for them, but I’ve had season tickets.

Zing!

PS….

Now that season one is in swing, it’s time to look ahead. It’s not too late to start lobbying the networks for a season two. There are lots of ways to show your support, and one of them is mailing the heads of the network informing them that you want to see more of W13. You can email feedback@syfy.com , and you can send mail to:

Jeff Zucker/Warehouse 13 and Jeff Gaspin/Warehouse 13 (send each a letter please)
NBC / Universal
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. It can just be something like:

“I just wanted to write in and show my support for WAREHOUSE 13. As you know, the ratings have been very good, and it’s time the networks reciprocate by confirming a second season. I can assure you that if you do, I’ll be watching.”

If you want to copy and paste that into your own letter, fine by me, but let me encourage you to let the networks know why you personally want to see a season two.

See you next week!

This was my least favorite of all the episodes so far. I don’t know if it was because the artifact was bleh for me or because there was just too much going on with all the characters. But I will keep watching for sure. And I definatly like the Pete/Myka dynamic.

Thanks for the recap. I really liked this episode. I really like the Claudia addition. I think that will make things way more interesting. Also loved the Pete and Myka interactions. The I have season tickets to your league. Too cute. And the you’re pretty when you smile and she was like awwwww but then she was like what am I when I’m not smiling? Loved it.

I didn’t even remember the guy he put through the wall. hmmmm wonder what happened to him?

I’m enjoying this show. Lots of fun. 🙂

I kind of assumed the wall he put the guy through was an outside wall and they guy ended up splattered on the street. The episode was a little hard to follow, but I loved the interaction between Pete and Myka. I hope they keep them with the friendly banter and do not head in the love direction. They have great friend chemistry. Thanks for the recap!

    Thanks for the review!
The case wasn’t the strongest, but I think this was the first episode where the connections between the characters and their strength as a team were fantastic throughout (the Claudia/Artie snark, Pete and Myka’s smile conversation). Hopefully that sets the tone for the rest of the season, with their interactions seeming more natural and allowing for stronger cases to appear without seeming as if the show is bouncing back and forth between personality and procedural.

Did you ever find out about the B&B painting? I would love to find a print of it!

I have looked everywhere for the name of the picture that was in this episode and can not find it. Have you found out who the artist is or the name of the picture

No, I have not found out the name of the print/artist., but honestly i haven’t done much research. Thank you for looking everywhere. i’ll ask around. It was so beautiful! And I still want to know the music from Magnetism as well.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I am pleased you are enjoying the show.

I, too, loved the character interaction in this ep. Especially the part about Myka smiling at the end. (Myka, I could tell, like it too!) But I’m glad that Pete lightened it up, saying she was scary when she didn’t. We can’t have the kiddies jumping into anything too fast! We need something to look forward to for the next seven seasons!

I would love to see WH13 back again. I think the cast is great and that there is potential for some great mystical cases. I am, however, up in the air about Claudia. Is she sticking around?

The artist you are looking for is Lysa Marion. She has a couple of pictures on the show. She is awesome.

    It’s Lyse Marion
