I got a good night’s sleep and I’m ready to tackle Thursday night TV!! So as busy as your DVR was last week, it’s going to get even more interesting when you try to fit in FLASH FORWARD, GREY’S ANATOMY, CSI and THE MENTALIST – all which premiere tonight.
Alright let’s get to the goodness of tonight’s lineup!
Flash Forward | 8pm on ABC | Series Premiere
“No More Good Days”
A normal day turns to chaos when everyone on Earth blacks out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds and sees events from their own futures.
Bones | 8pm on CBS
“The Bond in the Boot”
Booth and Brennan investigate when a man is murdered for the undisclosed contents of his briefcase; the team looks for alternate funding for Wendell when he loses his scholarship.
Survivor: Samoa | 8pm on CBS
“Taking Candy from a Baby”
A rugby-like game gets out of control and one player is ejected from the contest; one person is given the opportunity to make friends with the opposing tribe, but it doesn’t go well. Meanwhile, Russell H. continues to disrupt life for the Foa Foa tribe.

SNL: Weekend Update Thursday | 8pm on NBC
Former SNL star Amy Poehler returns to post at the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update desk alongside co-anchor, Seth Meyers. Each Thursday the two will skewer current events, news and politics.

Tyler’s attempt at embarrassing Stefan backfires; Elena invites Bonnie and Stefan to dinner; an act of violence shocks the town. [GMMR: Congrats to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES for getting picked up for the back 9. That’s a full season!]
Parks & Recreation | 8:30pm on NBC
“The Stakeout”
Tom and Leslie discover marijuana planted in the community garden; Ann gets permission from Leslie to go on a date with Mark. [GMMR: Reading the comments from last week’s ‘Parks & Rec’ review, I’m glad so many of you enjoyed the season premiere as much as I did. They did some smart tweaking over the summer.]
The Office | 9pm on NBC
“The Meeting”
Jim makes a request that leaves Michael feeling defensive and insecure; Pam works on the guest list for the wedding; Toby and Dwight go under cover to investigate a workers’ comp claim. [GMMR: Since I was in L.A. last week for the premiere, we didn’t get to have a proper discussion of last week’s episode of THE OFFICE. But don’t you worry, we’ll be talking about it later tonight. It’s my #1 priority. So don’t worry. I didn’t “give up on the show” or “abandoned” it like some of you claimed. It was just bad timing. But wasn’t it awesome! If there is ever any interest in doing a live OFFICE chat while the show is on, just drop me a line and let me know.]

Members of the hospital staff find unique ways to deal with their grief at George’s death; George’s mother faces the daunting task of deciding what to do with his organs. [GMMR: Congratulations to Ellen Pompeo who gave birth to Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery on September 15th. And congrats also go out to Katherine Heigl who adopted Nancy Leigh (known as Naleigh) from Korea.]

“Family Affair”
Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) returns to help the team investigate when a famous young actress dies as the result of a suspicious car accident.
Fringe | 9pm on FOX
“Night of Desirable Objects”
A construction worker goes missing after he is mysteriously drawn into an underground tunnel full of human remains; Walter tries to simulate travel between realities on frogs
Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“Free to Be You & Me
Sam wants to give up hunting for angels and demons, but a mysterious visitor (Adrianne Palicki) changes his mind; Dean attempts to locate the archangel Raphael, who may know God’s location.. [GMMR: I’m on ep #16 of Season 4 of SUPERNATURAL. I’m on track to finish this week. Then I just need a few days to get caught up on these past episodes of season 5. Almost there.]

“Spanish 101”
Jeff’s attempt to become Britta’s partner for a class project backfires; Annie and Shirley help Britta with her newest social-justice cause. [GMMR:Very excited to see what this second episode brings. I enjoyed the pilot but not as much as others did.]
The Mentalist | 10pm on CBS | Season Premiere
“Redemption”
In the second-season opener, the Red John case is taken away from the team and given to another CBI team, led by Sam Bosco (Terry Kinney). [GMMR:This is a show I wish I were watching. Every time I see it it’s SO good. But look at this Thursday night lineup. It would be Sunday before I even got to it.]
The Real Housewives of Atlanta | 10pm on Bravo
“Precious Pocketbook”
Kim announces that Big Papa is back in the picture; Kandi gives a crowd-pleasing performance; Sheree throws her long-awaited Independence Party.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia | 10pm on FX
“The Gang Hits the Road”
The gang tries to expand its horizons by going on a road trip to the Grand Canyon.[GMMR:This is another one of those shows that I know if I watched I would be obsessed with. I love sick and twisted humor.]
Project Runway | 10pm on Lifetime
[GMMR: My DVR cut off the “nest week on Project Runway” segment so I have no idea what tonight’s episode is all about. It seems that even the show was shot well over a year ago, they don’t publish their episode synopsis anywhere. Bizarre.]

I think my schedule may go something like this:
Watching FlashForward then Office.
Recording Vampire Diaries so watching after Office or maybe even Community.
Roommate recording Fringe so Grey’s Anatomy will be online viewing on Friday alongside Bones.
ACK!! I can’t do it! Why does everything have to be on the same night at the same time. I mean really!
I want to watch all 5 (yes I said ALL FIVE) networks at 8/7c and 3 at 9/8c. Couldn’t they move some of the good stuff to the 10/9c hour? I love TVD but its going to have to wait til the re-airing. Bones is being left for Hulu as well as SNL and P&R.
I had to give up Supernatural long ago so I will have to catch Fringe or Grey’s later too. The Office & Community are must sees. I’m thinking Fringe is going to get left because I can catch it on Hulu.
UGH!! It’s sad that because Hulu is such a good video viewing experience CBS gets DVR space. (I don’t like their streaming at all.)
Oh, Thursdays! Between Wednesday and Thursday, I think I will be going NUTS with the TV schedule this year! Ack!
Since I don’t actually get the CW, The Vampire Diaries has been running on our local CTV station at 7 pm. But tonight I see it’s been moved to 10 pm, which is kind of a good thing. So I might give Flash Forward a go at 7 pm, and see if it “moves me” or not. At 8 pm, I think I’ll be watching Fringe, and taping Supernatural when it reruns at 11 pm, to watch tomorrow. In the 9 pm hour, I think I will catch up on some of my earlier recordings, like Criminal Minds from last night.
Strunkette, both Vampire Diaries and Supernatural go up on the CW website a day or two after they air–maybe you can catch it over the weekend and then chat it up with us!
I’ll be watching/tivoing Vampire Diaries, P&R, Flashfoward, Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, Community, and Fringe! wow that’s a lot Haha.
I almost didn’t make it through Thursday night last week lol. There is just way too much on! Bones, Flashfoward, The Office, Community, Fringe and the premiere of The Mentalist (which I cannot wait for!)
Also, WOO to the full-season pick-up of TVD!
Between 8 and 10 I’m just going by network… watching fox… dvr-ing the cw… hoping to catch abc and nbc online. The 8 o’clock hour is pretty fluid as Bones lost me a bit last season and fastforward looks great. I’m not in love with any of the 10pm shows and I am boycotting jay leno on principle.
The only shows I am NOT watching tonight are CSI, Bones, Supernatural, and Community. Add It’s Always Sunny to the mix an that’s 9 hours of TV on Thursdays. Good thing I bought a dvd recorder for nights when my dvr can’t get everything.
I’ve gotta record everything because of volleyball. That’ll include all of NBC’s 7-9pm block, Project Runway and Grey’s but probably won’t get to that tomorrow. And I’m 98% sure it’ll be the last Grey’s I ever watch. I’m just curious to see the farewell to George, even though there’ll be no TR.
It’s a little scary that the only shows I’m not planning to watch tonight are Jay Leno and CSI. I really, really hate it when several of my top shows are up against each other at the same time. Spread out the love, network execs! Lots of online viewing for me over the weekend!
Kath, I know you would never abandon The Office, I was wondering what your thoughts were about last weeks episode were, great cold opening…loved watching Andy fall in the cardboard refrigerador box and wondering if he was really gay 🙂 Can’t wait for tonights episode and might DVR Carson Daly tonight…LOVE Paolo Nutini!
TheOfficeMattress – I thought last week’s episode of THE OFFICE was very strong. It always is when the full ensemble is used effectively. The cold open was brilliant. I’m sure it was tough, physical work for Steve, Rainn and Ed but the payoff was hilarious.
Ed Helms was really a stand out for me last week. His “am I gay” storyline was really well done. So sharp. And so Andy. Here’s a guy that lets other things (Cornell, women, etc) define him. If by the end of the episode he really did believe he was gay, he would have 100% committed to it. Great comedic stuff.
The Jim/Pam talking head about Pam being a fancy whore was wonderful. They are getting married. They are going to be parents. But they are still best friends.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some serious Jim and Pam pranking!
Okay, I can’t I mean can’t time shift The Office, it is the law, my law…so I am screwed. I need more DVR options. I think I have to give up Fringe or watch it online. This is insane.
I dont see anything on here that rivals ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE on CBS. If you ask me, Monday night is comedy night!!
