Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, September 27, 2009

September 27, 2009 by

It’s a rainy, cold day here in Boston, but I’m not complaining.  Sometimes those are the best kinds of Sundays. Today is all about being lazy and watching some TV.  Tonight’s TV lineup is anything but lazy. It’s starting to feel like every night require multiple DVRs. So much to choose from.

It’s a BIG premiere tonight with DEXTER, CALIFORNICATION, THE AMAZING RACE, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS, COLD CAST and others kicking of their new seasons. And if animated comedies are your thing then definitely check out Fox for the season premieres of THE SIMPSONS, the series premiere of THE CLEVELAND SHOW, THE FAMILY GUY, and AMERICAN DAD.

What will YOUR Sunday night TV lineup look like? Definitely leave a note in the comments so I know which Sunday night shows you are most interested in.

The Amazing Race 15 | 8pm on CBS | Season Premiere
“They Thought Godzilla was Walking Down the Street”
Twelve teams begin their race around the world; only 11 teams make the journey to Tokyo after the contestants face a heart-breaking surprise elimination.

“Homer the Whopper”
Season 21 opener: Homer gets the lead in a movie about a superhero who can take on the powers of every superhero in any comic book he touches. To whip Homer into superhero shape, the studio hires a celebrity fitness trainer (voice of Seth Rogen). It won’t be an easy job.

“Nice is Different than Good”
Mike Delfino’s bride is revealed; Lynette faces another pregnancy; Bree tries to break free from her inhibitions; Carlos’ niece puts Gaby to the test; a new family moves to Wisteria Lane.

More of tonight’s lineup after the break…

Dexter | 9pm on Showtime | Season Premiere
“Living the Dream”
Season 4 begins with Dexter a full-fledged family man with a wife, two stepchildren, a new baby and the same hankering to dole out justice to murderers who remain free. Special Agent Frank Lundy seeks his help with a homicidal maniac who’s been dubbed the Trinity Killer.

Drop Dead Diva | 9pm on Lifetime
“What if?”
Jane takes on a case where a woman believes she was switched at birth; Parker is nervous about being in the courtroom after a long absence.

America’s Best Dance Crew | 9pm on MTV | Season Finale
“Live Finale”
All of the crews return for group performances and the audience votes will determine if Afroborike or We Are Heroes are named America’s Best Dance Crew [GMMR: Based on the final routines and the audience reaction, I’ll be shocked if We Are Heroes doesn’t take this one tonight.]

Curb Your Enthusiasm | 9pm on HBO

Larry deliberately tries to annoy Loretta; Larry profits from Leon’s indiscretion with the wife of a depressed friend.

Actually, I have still been watching and really enjoying Drop Dead Diva.
It’s not always perfect, but does hit a lot of the right notes.

seeleybaby, I was looking at your icon going, wtf is that? And suddenly it hit me…PVC pipes, rubber cement, significant glances, water everywhere…. Nice!! 🙂

I’m really excited for Brothers & Sisters’ return! There was some disappointments for me last season, but I’m amazed that I’ve actually really missed the Walker clan over the summer. All I ask is, please, please, please more Scotty this year!! Luke McFarlane was way underused last season – his character has fallen into the hardly-seen Walker spouse trap and I will not stand for it!

I’m into Drop Dead Diva too. Plus David Denman is guesting as another lawyer and he and Jane are having a little romance. He looks good in a suit. 😉

I’ve been meaning to check out Drop Dead Diva for awhile, and after watching this week’s episode, I’m glad I did. I think Brooke Elliott is a really good actress – I had never heard of her before this show, but I came away impressed.

I also really like the music selections. In the ending scene of the last episode they used Malbec’s “Free” which fit so well. Good job, Lifetime, you’ve actually produced one show worth watching. FYI you can check out that scene on YouTube at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRPvTJC1vpM
