Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Tuesday, September 29, 2009

September 29, 2009 by

I’ll deny it if you tell anyone, but I kind of love Tuesday nights.  As of now I’m only regularly watching two shows on Tuesdays. It’s rather relaxing. As a TV lover I know I should be saying ‘bring it on’, but with Monday, Wednesday and Thursday so jam packed with good TV, a girl needs a breather every once in a while.  So thank you Tuesday, you rock!

Tonight we see more auditions for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.  If you’re going to be watching SYTYCD tonight, why not join me for a LIVE chat starting at 9/8c. We’ll watch together.  And make sure you’re following me on Twitter so you know when we get started.

I’m also going to be checking out the second episode of THE GOOD WIFE.  I’m trying to find out the interest level for this show on GMMR, so PLEASE drop a note in the comments if THE GOOD WIFE made your TV lineup. I think people may enjoy it, but I’m not sure it’s the type of show that will have an active online audience each week.  Maybe I’m wrong. Let me know.

If you like your TLC reality shows, then don’t miss what’s happening on tonight’s 18 KIDS AND COUNTING.  Read on to find out.

Rounding off the evening will be watching John Krasinski on THE TONIGHT SHOW with Conan O’Brien. John is always so fantastic when he’s sitting out there with his old boss.  I can’t wait! And don’t miss John’s boss, Ricky Gervais on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE.

The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC
“Episode 3”
Contestants get an offer that is very hard to refuse; players face their first temptation, which will leave the winner with control over the weigh-in; an incline challenge tests the players’ stamina; one contestant is eliminated.

90210 | 8pm on The CW
“The Porn King”
Sasha and Dixon drive to Napa for the weekend; Annie makes a shocking discovery; Navid and Adrianna spend the night together; Liam finds a way to reveal the truth to Naomi and get revenge on Jen.

NCIS | 8pm on CBS
“Reunion”
The deaths of a marine and his two friends are investigated; and Gibbs gets the final decision regarding Ziva, but is unprepared for how the news affects him.

So You Think You Can Dance | 9pm on Fox
“Auditions”
Dancers from across the country audition in hopes of impressing the judges. [GMMR: Join us tonight at 9/8c for a LIVE chat.  Let’s see which dancers have what it takes to get to Vegas and which ones are complete disasters. Click here to set a reminder for yourself.]

NCIS: Los Angeles | 9pm on CBS
“The One Easy Day”
Sam learns that his former Navy SEAL colleagues are involved in the case of a murdered drug dealer. [GMMR: I’m not one to sit down and watch procedurals, but I’m rather intrigued by NCIS:LA.  And yes, it’s because of Chris O’Donnell, but still.]

(More of tonight’s TV spotlight after the jump)

Melrose Place | 9pm on The CW
“Vine”
Sydney’s sister, Jane Mancini (Josie Bissett), comes to Melrose Place and makes an announcement; Detective Rodriguez questions Violet about her connection to Sydney; Lauren decides to take her side job to the next level.

The Good Wife | 10pm on CBS
“Stripped”
A stripper claims she was raped at a prominent businessman’s bachelor party, and Alicia represents her after the state’s attorney refuses to pursue criminal charges.

The Forgotten | 10pm on ABC
“Diamond Jane”
A murdered fiancée leaves behind an engagement ring and a mystery for the network to solve. Claire Post: Christina Chang. Henry James: John Walcutt.

Sons of Anarchy | 10pm on FX
“Eureka”
When the MC heads north on a “charity” club run, they find more than just bike trouble when they cross state lines; with Samcro out of Charming, Gemma’s left in a compromising position with The League. [GMMR: The show ends at 11:02pm so adjust your recording if you need to.]

Also Playing…

  • Hell’s Kitchen | 8pm on Fox: The remaining chefs compete in their first individual challenge by attempting to create a dish that looks as good as it tastes.
  • Dancing with the Stars | 9pm on Fox: Another celebrity dancer is eliminated.
  • 18 Kids and Counting | 9pm on TLC: Jim Bob and Michelle prepare to walk down the aisle again after 25 years of marriage; the Duggars visit Kleinfeld’s in New York. [GMMR: Ah, the beauty of a cross over ep. All this time I thought I’d be most excited for The Gosselins to meet The Duggars, but never in my wildest dreams would I ever think we’d see Michelle & Jim Bob in one of the snootiest dress shops ever. This is going to be fabulous!]
  • The Hills | 9pm – 10:30pm on MTV | Season Premiere: Lauren must decide if she can forgive Spencer to be there for Heidi on her wedding day; a surprise guest shows. Kristin attempts to reconnect with friends, but angers Audrina by flirting with Justin; Heidi and Spencer are house hunting. [GMMR: If you are someone that watches THE HILLS then you already know everything that goes on this season. I’m intrigued to see KCavs, but not intrigued enough to get sucked into the show.]

Tonight is light for me too; definitely agree a breather is so good. My picks are 90210 and The Good Wife. Also catching up on Monday fare that didn’t fit on the TiVo and that I’m behind on.

I’m a little bummed that SYTYCD is on tonight because I wanted to get some work done. Oh, who am I kidding? I’ll be there for the live chat!

The Good Wife has made the cut for me…so far. It’s sad but true it doesn’t seem like much is holding my attention this year. I expect my TV will eb more than managable by the end of the month.

Might have to record the Duggars because I’d heard about this ep and have been excited for it since then but with it in the middle of BL, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to switch. Depends on what’s going on I guess.

Good Wife is totally on my schedule. I really enjoyed the first episode last week.

And of course John on Conan, I’m worried about wedding spoilers though. I’m trying to stay as spoiler free as possible right now about that ep…

Tuesdays are easy for me too. Never noticed before.

Tuesday=NCIS night 🙂 I’m still not 100% on board with NCIS:LA but I’m willing to give it time

  7. Alison on September 29th, 2009 4:31 pm

    Biggest Loser, baby!!

We are taping The Good Wife, but it’s on a short leash.

  9. Mandi on September 29th, 2009 6:22 pm

You are so missing out by not watching NCIS. In the past several months, it’s become my favorite show on TV – bypassing Grey’s, OTH and, dare I say it, The Office. Tuesday’s have a whole new meaning now. Plus, it’s the most-watched show on TV right now with 20 million people tuning in for last week’s season opener.

So check it out (ala Saturday Night Live variety).

I like seeing all the love for NCIS!!! I thought NCIS colon L.A. started off as an “Alias-esque” episode (with a little humor thrown in) last week and then fizzled into a blah procedural. NCIS colon The Original still rocks. The season premiere last week was a great place to start if you haven’t followed the show. Tony is highlighted and it really takes viewers through who each of the characters are, while still discussing plot points that only hardcore viewers will appreciate and follow. We watched re-runs all summer on USA, so we are thrilled when they mention details from past episodes. I was sad to see only limited amounts of Gibbs and Abby (Kath, my heart ached when you called her the weird girl on their commercial—Abby is the BEST!) last week, but I can’t wait to see tonight’s episode!

I watch Biggest Loser and the results of DWTS online. DVR SYTYCD because I like to rewind my favorite routines (the auditions are kinda boring, I fast forward through the obvious bad ones). Tuesdays are busy busy busy!

P.S. Kath, you had mentioned that you were going to possibly make time to watch The Mentalist. If you’re going to watch any procedural, it should be NCIS. They have 5 great characters that they’ve developed, whereas on The Mentalist, Simon Baker is good, but the writing and the other characters really stink. The lady who plays his boss is totally unbelievable. Why do they name his character Jane? It is grating to hear whatshername calling him all the time “Jane! Jane!” Ugh. It annoys me. They are going to drag out the Red John mystery for the life of the show (like on Monk, I hear there’s an unsolved “who-killed-his-wife” that is being solved finally on the very last show?).
