Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Thursday, November 19, 2009

November 19, 2009 by

It’s comedy night one right.  But the dramas seem to know a thing or two about how to make good Thursday TV too.

Before we get into tonight’s TV spotlight, just a heads up that GMMR will be somewhat quiet today. I’m heading off to meet with a surgeon about my back woes. Hopefully he has some thoughts on how to get me back up and running (which would really be something since I’ve never really been much of a runner).

Here’s a look at highlights from tonight’s TV lineup. What shows are you most looking forward to tonight?

Flash Forward | 8pm on ABC
“Believe”
Bryce searches for the woman in his flashforward; Tracy’s odd behavior concerns Aaron; Demetri’s colleagues try to locate the caller who warned him about his fate. [GMMR: I did what I said I would. I gave Flash Forward one last shot last week. I’ve officially dropped it. I gave it a fair shake but it never pulled me in.]

The Vampire Diaries | 8pm on The CW
“The Turning Point”
Damon and Stefan find they have some competition to deal with; Elena makes a shocking discovery. [GMMR: In case you didn’t know how much I love this show, check out the latest TV Talk Podcast. Ducky and I talk VAMPIRE DIARIES for a whopping 10 minutes.]

Survivor: Samoa | 8pm on CBS
“The Day of Reckoning”
A clever castaway jeopardizes the success of a scheme to ensure safety in the game; the ninth contestant is eliminated.

Bones | 8pm on CBS
“The Foote in the Foreclosure”
Booth’s grandfather comes to live with him and tags along as Brennan and Booth investigate human remains that were found by a real estate agent who was showing a property to prospective buyers.

Community | 8:00pm on NBC
“Environmental Science”
The gang nominates Jeff to talk some sense into Chang when he assigns an absurd amount of homework; Troy and Abed’s biology lab subject goes missing.

(The rest of Thursday night’s lineup is after the jump)

Parks & Recreation | 8:30pm on NBC
“Hunting Trip”
Leslie invites herself on Ron’s annual hunting trip to prove that she can hang with the guys; with everyone else away, April and Andy bond in the office.

The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Shareholders Meeting”
When David Wallace invites Michael to the Dunder Mifflin shareholder meeting in New York, Michael brings Oscar, Dwight and Andy along; Jim tries to get Ryan to do work.

Grey’s Anatomy | 9pm on ABC
“Holidaze”
As the holiday season passes, Miranda is visited by her father, who disapproves of her life choices; Mark and Lexie must cope with the arrival of a woman from his past; Thatcher questions the chief’s recent behavior.

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“Abandon All Hope”
Sam, Dean and Castiel search for Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) in order to send him back to Hell. They are aided in their dangerous quest by fellow hunters Bobby, Ellen and Jo. Bobby: Jim Beaver. Ellen: Samantha Ferris. Jo: Alona Tal. [GMMR: Savor every second of tonight’s episode, because it’s the last new SUPERNATURAL ep for two months. Just seems to cruel.]

CSI | 9pm on CBS
“Lovers Lanes”
The team investigates a murder at a bowling alley after an unusual piece of evidence is revealed during a bowling tournament.

Fringe | 9pm on FOX
“Fringe”
A peculiar abduction in Boston leads the Fringe team to uncover details of the mysterious man known as The Observer; Walter, Peter and Astrid analyze unusual evidence and deal with Walter’s insatiable appetite for milkshakes. [GMMR: I wish I knew how to quit you. I still haven’t finished S1 of FRINGE yet I’m recording S2 because I’m determined to catch up one of these days.]

30 Rock | 9:30pm on NBC
“Sun Tea”
Liz must make a drastic change to her living arrangements when her apartment building is converted to condos; Jack and Tracy re-evaluate their plans for parenthood; Kenneth is on a mission to make the show greener.

Private Practice | 10pm on ABC
“Sins of the Father”
Addison is shaken by her father’s arrival in Los Angeles; after he refuses to cooperate in a case involving a longtime patient, Cooper is arrested; Pete fights to keep a terminally ill patient alive long enough for him to meet his new daughter.

The Mentalist | 10pm on CBS
“His Right Hand”
Faced with a violent crime in its own office, the CBI team must work the case despite the alarm of who may be behind it; Rigsby and Van Pelt are an item.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia | 10pm on FX
“D.E.N.N.I.S System”
Dennis reveals his full proof system for seducing any woman to the rest of the gang, but they don’t grasp the concept.

Project Runway | 10pm on Lifetime | Season Finale
“The Finale Part 2”
IA winner is crowned after the final three designers showcase their runway lines on fashion’s biggest stage—Fashion Week at New York’s Bryant Park—in the conclusion of the Season 6 finale. [GMMR: I haven’t missed an episode of PR this season yet I could care less about tonight’s finale. I’m rooting for Carol Hannah, but I have a feeling it’s going to be Irina who takes it all.  Ugh.

Also playing…

  • The Real Housewives of Orange County | 10pm on Bravo: This wives’ tale focuses on Jeana, who makes a difficult decision: She chooses to break away from the housewives—and the series itself—in an effort to focus on her real-estate business, which has been slumping in a declining market.
