December 30, 2009 by

better off ted dvd

UPDATE: You have until 6pm on December 31st to enter!

On December 1st Fox Home Entertainment released Season 1 of BETTER OFF TED, one the sharpest and funniest comedies of the past few years. ONE lucky GMMR reader will be sent Season 1 on DVD just for entering! If you haven’t yet seen the show, then now is the time to catch up. New episodes of Season 2 premiere next week on ABC.

As head of research and development at Veridian Dynamics, good guy Ted Crisp (Jay Harrington) leads a quirky team of the world’s smartest scientists on a mission to make the impossible possible. From cow-less meat to deadly pumpkins, no project is too bizarre, or too unethical, as long as it’s profitable. Working to appease his beautiful boss (Portia DeRossi), Ted struggles occasionally with his conscience — and his attraction to a comely co-worker (Andrea Anders) — but it’s all in a day’s work when you’re Better Off Ted.

Ooh! I would really, REALLY love to own S1 of Better Off Ted on DVD because the show is AWESOME! It’s really smart, and funny, and yet they throw in the serious moments that make you go “hmm”. I was a viewer from the start last year, and don’t know how I could have avoided it as I’m a daily Ellen viewer. Ellen was constantly plugging the show, and I thought, “well, it looks funny, so..” … and it IS! When I saw the first commercial announcing that Better Off Ted was returning to TV on Tuesday, December 8th, I immediately got up, ran to my calendar, and wrote in big, block letters: “BETTER OFF TED RETURNS. YAY!”, so there was no way I could miss it.

Great show, and I can’t wait for its return next week!

  2. Maggie on December 4th, 2009 2:25 pm

I love this show! I should win because I would make friends and family watch season one with me and of course they would love it and become fans.

  3. Cortney on December 4th, 2009 3:57 pm

I LOVE this show! It is the smartest show I have seen on TV in a long time, the casting is perfect for all the characters, and the writing is superb. I laugh so hard every time i watch an episode. I would love to own this show on DVD and watch the episodes over and over again. And, I will make anyone who comes to visit watch an episode; it’s that good!

  4. Jenn on December 4th, 2009 3:59 pm

I should win because these DVDs would be used over and over again for my viewing pleasure. This show is one that I really look forward to watching. I love the style, the comedy, the cast. I was looking forward to it before it aired since all of you tv bloggers loved it so much. From the first episode I loved it! (I hope this is enough of a plug)

  5. Hilary on December 4th, 2009 4:28 pm

    Why should I win this?
First off, I’m a college student, so I don’t exactly have that much money to spend on a DVD I want. Second, I want to share this show with all my college friends and take over the lounge and make them love it. I love it myself, and so does another one of my friends, so having it would be something to watch when I have a bad day. Quote Veronica, talk about how cute Rose is, all that stuff. Either way, Better Off Ted just makes everything better and it would be awesome to have around all the time.

  6. Alyssa on December 5th, 2009 12:00 am

I should win this because I’ve talked up this show to my friends and gotten 10 new viewers for it!

  7. Jonathan on December 5th, 2009 2:07 am

I hope I win so I can show everyone how awesome this show is. So stoked it’s coming back on Tuesday. Even though it follows Scrubs, I’m watching BOT first on my TiVo!

  8. Maura on December 5th, 2009 7:23 am

Ooh, I should win this giveaway because my husband and I are the neighborhood netflix for good TV. We have been passing around our seasons of Life (darn NBC for canceling you!), Arrested Development, Chuck and The Office…and spreading the word of Better Off Ted.

  9. AMM on December 5th, 2009 3:18 pm

I would love to get this series. Been trying to spread the word about it, and I need visuals for my friends cause I can’t seem to get the jokes across to them when I attempt to describe the show. Already bought a full season of Arrested Development for a friend for Christmas cause I know they would love it.
I’ll hold my friends capture and make them watch it so hopefully there will be more seasons to come.
Long Live Lem and Phil! (And hopefully not in a cryogenic state)

  10. Andy W. on December 5th, 2009 3:30 pm

I’ve never been one to go around and advocate a show but I tell all of my friends and family about this. When we don’t know what to watch I suggest this show. I tell people to go online or to watch this show whenever it is gone. I just want this show to get more viewers and for more to watch because it is just so brilliant. I love Better Off Ted and cannot wait for it next week.

  11. Sonja on December 6th, 2009 12:13 am

I should win because I’ve loved Portia DeRossi ever since she was on Arrested Development. And since that show got cancelled, and Pushing Daisies got cancelled, nothing has filled my heart quite with glee like Better off Ted. Its smart and sarcastic and cynically wonderful. I want to be Ted’s BFF, and I am too poor to buy the collection.
    Please, please, please=D.

  12. Elle E'Trois on December 6th, 2009 1:52 am

I should win “Better Off Ted” S1 because I need to learn how to weaponize pumpkins. How can I turn a festive gourd into a killer? I must know.
    Yours fiendishly, Elle

  13. Sarah on December 6th, 2009 2:14 am

Better off Ted is widely under-appreciated, which is a shame because it has wit, charm and quite a bit of quirk, I must say. I was quite surprised when I tuned in last spring and was laughing almost nonstop from the dry humor it brings. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s certainly mine. I would love the DVD so I could have the ability to watch it over and over as well as share it with friends to get them hooked, too!

  14. Kayla on December 6th, 2009 4:34 pm

I should win because I just spent $40 on the first two seasons of The West Wing and $20 on Firefly (LOVE) and I’m a college student so I’m broke. Also, it would be so much easier to avoid studying for finals with those DVDs on my TV.

  15. Kyle on December 8th, 2009 11:27 am

This show is great–can’t wait for tonight’s premiere

  16. Brett on December 8th, 2009 11:43 am

I never had a chance to watch Season 1 of the show, so what better way to catch up before the new season that for you to send me the entire first season for free. 🙂

  17. Maria S on December 8th, 2009 12:47 pm

I would love to win these series because it’s one of the lots of comedies that are on right now that actually make me laugh out loud! It would be a great addition to my small tv collection.

  18. Emily N. on December 8th, 2009 10:14 pm
  19. Amanda N on December 13th, 2009 6:39 pm

Better Off Ted is one of the few shows on TV that actually make me laugh out loud, every episode. So, it makes me very sad that its not doing so stellar in the ratings. Therefore I need to the DVD to convert everyone human I know into a Better Off Ted fan so they watch it on TV. My life needs Lem and Phil. I will do what is needed to save them.

  20. Brianna on December 17th, 2009 7:17 pm

I would love to win these DVDs! I just recently became a fan after hearing you plug it in the TV Talk Podcast, and I love it. I haven’t seen any of Season 1, though, and really need to catch up. The show just recently helped me get through a late night at the office, since I was able to take a 20 minute break and watch it while eating dinner at my desk.

  21. grumpyoldman on December 18th, 2009 9:18 am

I don’t want to win this. That girl that was on Ally McBeal is just so irritating, I could never watch it.

  22. whatinabox on December 29th, 2009 2:11 pm

I should win because I need some comedy to add to my dvd collection.

  23. Alison on December 30th, 2009 10:30 pm

I would love to win a copy of the Better Off Ted DVD set, because I’ve never seen it, but I know the lovely Kathy only recommends good shows. I really want to see what I’ve been missing!

  24. The One True b!X on December 30th, 2009 10:55 pm

I should win the DVD because if I don’t, I won’t invite you to medieval fight club in the basement.

  25. Ryan on December 30th, 2009 10:57 pm

Best show on TV! I’d love to be able to watch this with my girlfriend, she loves it too.

  26. TVObsessed on December 30th, 2009 10:59 pm

I should win the DVD, because the show is awesome and I would like to rewatch the first season.

  27. Allison W. on December 30th, 2009 11:24 pm

I would love to win the DVD because I wanted to watch Better Off Ted when it first aired but school got in my way and I was unable. I want to be able to catch up! I need more funny in my life!

  28. Peter on December 31st, 2009 12:10 am

The only reason I should win is that I really like the series and will convince (or make) all of my friends watch it. That and I need to explain myself, they think I am crazy from a Better Off Ted reference I made a few months ago so they obviously need to be schooled.

  29. Diana on December 31st, 2009 1:22 am

Ooooo! I love this show! I should win so I can selfishly marathon it at will AND selflessly loan it out to make new fans of the show!

  30. Emily on December 31st, 2009 9:57 am

I should win because…I’m just that awesome…and so is Ted. 🙂

  31. Grant on December 31st, 2009 12:18 pm

I have never once seen an episode of this…. However, you, and many readers here, seem to love it, so if I win, I suspect I would also love it. That said, I only ever watch a show once, so after I finish season 1, I will pass it along to another reader.

  32. Victor on December 31st, 2009 6:24 pm

I love this show…it’s my favorite comedy on TV! I really hope it doesn’t get cancelled.

Thank you that is extremely helpful for me, as a new website has been inundated with comments that seem OK at first glance but then get repeated with a slight change of wording. I have something concrete to go on now and will delete quite a lot of them.
