Didi Benami "Terrified" on AMERICAN IDOL - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Didi Benami “Terrified” on AMERICAN IDOL

February 10, 2010 by

While Andrew Garcia’s “Straight Up” was the standout moment among the guys tonight on AMERICAN IDOL, it was Didi Benami who left a lasting impression on behalf of the ladies. Her rendition of Katherine McPhee/Kara DioGuardi’s “Terrified” was radio-ready. Her voice is unique, very powerful but also very controlled. She’s everything that the judges hoped Megan Joy would have been, but Didi has more natural talent to back it up.

In case you missed it, here’s Didi Benami’s take on “Terrified”. Amazing!

Kath: Your Megan Joy reference was spot-on, especially in the first 15-20 seconds of the performance. Once Didi left the first verse behind, she really injected a unique quality into that song. What a voice! Between this clip and the “Straight Up” video you posted earlier, I am officially in for this season of Idol.

She reminds me of Sara Bareilles…loved the song, too! Looking forward to her on the show!

I have never seen a Hollywood week with so many performers with obvious star quality. The bar has indeed been raised.

I heard a little Ingrid Michaelson in there too. I LOVED her and was so glad to see so much real talent from so many of the contestants last night. This looks like a very promising season!

I’ve never heard this song before (or maybe i have, when i watched Kara Dioguardi’s YT videos awhile back, but forgot about it).. Hearing Didi sing this, it was like the song was MADE for her.. I am rooting for Andrew Garcia for the guys (i’ve been a fan of him on Youtube for months now.. This “Youtube Star” has a growing fanbase.. his audition video went to 800k++ in less than 2 weeks.) As for the girls, hands down it’s Didi!! Both of them are rumored to be in Top24.. i wont be surprised to see them both in Top12.. this will be an exciting Season with both of them in it! =D

She reminds me of brooke white AI7. Her voice however sounds like regina spektor.

I was not planning to watch American Idol this season 9 after Paula Abdul left and replace by someone doesn’t know about music. But, when I saw and heard Didi Benami sang the “Terrified”, it was beautiful in my ears and she looks beautiful too….Now, I am going to watch American Idol Season 9 and will vote for Didi Benami….
God bless you Didi Benami with your beatiful looks and voice..keep it up..

Request to Didi…can you sing “Terrified” song again next time during this competition..

I listened to Katherine McPhee sing this song, and I’m sorry but Didi sang this way better! I love her voice, I am completely in this season of Idol. Lets go Didi!

definitely a great performance. never heard the song before, but once i heard it i had to find it and Didi’s performance was much ebtter than the original. As the article stated, it sounded radio ready to me and would be something i would absolutely listen to/ purchase if it were to be recorded acoustic as she sang it.

    Didi is fantastic!
She have this broken look and sound,a bit of a kristen stewart empathy there with an Amy Smart charming face, very contemporary. We can feel her in that performance, you can trully picture her hard life, working long hours as a waitress and you can just be impress by who she are as an artist.

She should sing Chantal Kreviazuk ,creed and other mens rock contemporary songs to get this unique vibe she has and make it sound simply different .We love the broken heart, the simplicity in her.She is like this girl next door,we can all easilly identified ourselves with this girl.Hope she will win this competition. To me she is the only one with the divine “Spark”.I would have definitely buy a complete cd of her based on that performance!

She has got to be a fake (minus the singing obviously, which I don’t care for). I like quirky and liked Megan last season (just wished she could have held a tune better), but this girl irks me from the moment she started crying about her friend she could have barely known for more than three months. The emotions may have even been real, but you don’t put that story out there unless you want to capitalize on getting pity points. Ugh, what a fake.

  14. I hate the PLANT Didi on March 5th, 2010 3:14 am

Hate her. She is such a cry baby. Tried to use her sob story. And on top of that, she is a cheating PLANT. Screw her. Megan is much more likeable by the way.

A note from Didi’s public diary.. its touching… and I’m rooting for her.. hope she get the right song and does well.

Hey love. So, I bought a keyboard today and I have been playing on it all day… well after i got off of work, but i am reminded of when you sat on the floor of our apt and would just play and sing your heart out. Oh the lovely memories.

Becka, you are my inspiration to do what I love, I miss you but i still feel your presence so I know I am not without you.

I am moving to california to follow my dream, I wish you could be my roommate there. I miss my roomie. Bec, I miss our talks that lasted until 3AM, and I miss that we shared so much in common. You had become such a breath of fresh air in my life, I know God connected us for a reason and I still feel it. I miss your crazy boy advice… who do i go to for advice now? I have no “Becca- Meter”. Haha I miss your great smile and how you ALWAYS made me feel better about anything. I love you girl. I hope your having a blast singing In God’s choir. Can’t wait to see you again, darlin.

    Xoxo, Didi

Bec, I couldn’t bring myself to write anything for a while becuase this has been so tough for me. I love you roomie, and I think about you every single day. I got so upset the other day because even when it was November I couldn’t wait until your birthday, I was starting to plan a suprise birthday party for you on the 10th. I remember you were in my room @ 11:59 right when I turned 19, and Cheryl ran in my room and sang happy birthday to me. You are such great friend, and it meant so much to me that you were always here for me. I’m sure you had a better one where you are now. I think about you everytime I see a cat becuase of our KITTIES!! I miss my work out buddy!!!I LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH, and if anyone is gonna be my guardian angel, it’s you. I love your family so much, they are precious. Now I know why you talked about pops so much… he’s so sweet. Shine down on all of us, becuase we all pray for you everyday.

I DESPISE THE POSER, DIDI BENAMI! SHE IS NOT THAT TALENTED, HER VOICE IS BORING HER SINGING IS DULL AND SHE IS A BROWN-NOSE POSER WHO PIMPS HER DEAD FRIEND FRO PUBLICITY. I HOPE SHE GOES HOME TONIGHT SO THE JUDGE PIMPING STOPS. SHE IS AN IDOL PLANT.

  17. Tasia on March 18th, 2010 4:17 pm

Literally lol-ing over here at some of these comments. She’s my favorite, for sure! I didn’t have any idea what her story was until I read the journal entries someone previously posted. She’s amazing. She doesn’t need Idol, either. She’ll do her thing with or without a win.

  18. mimi on March 19th, 2010 11:16 am

Didi worked on my Aunt’s Salon before, she is very kind. Sweet person, she is a very transparent person, very humble, she maybe a cry baby but she is so precious… keep voting for her, she is a good person… not a fake one, i am rooting for her definitely 😉

  19. mimi on March 19th, 2010 11:27 am

Ellen was right, even if Didi will win this season, some people (who don’t know her) will torn her apart, give bad impressions about her cause there’ll always be haters who are not happy with their lives and likes to be so negative… and for this… Didi must sing and get back up again, Didi is so talented and beautiful that’s why so many people are so envious to her… loser people… they say they hate Didi and yet they wasted their time putting comments here… tsk tsk tsk…

Some pple can be soo funny. Calling her a poser.Havent you noticed that all these contestants have a story to tell,so tell me, why should she be different. The fact is everyone has had one or two traumatic experiences in life and am sure they are told to talk about it so i dont see why some people will hate on her because she did. Just face the simple fact that she is a good singer, pure and lovely and get on with your life okay?
