My name is Reina and I watch too much TV. I think I watch about 10-12 shows religiously each week. My favorites are Friday Night Lights, Chuck, The Office and Dexter. My all time favorite TV moment was Jim kissing Pam on Casino Night. It doesnt’ get any better than that.

  2. Kathleen on February 23rd, 2010 11:08 am

Kathleen here. I can’t even begin to count because I think the number would depress me a little bit. Favs include Lost, Modern Family, The Office, Cougar Town, White Collar, The Big Bang Theory and some old school shows including Firefly and forever my favorite being The West Wing.

Favorite moments include Josh and Donna’s first kiss (FINALLY!!!), Kate revealing her baby is Aaron (which is like the only time I ever cared for a Kate episode during the show’s run!), Penny gifting Sheldon with Leonard Nimoy’s autograph and DNA.

    Favorite Quotes include:
Josh Lyman: Hello cats and kittens. Josh Lyman here with your two o’clock briefing.
Sayid: I was just served a sandwich by a 12 year old Benjamin Linus. How do you think I’m doing?
The Cast of The Big Bang Theory: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS LIZARD SPOCK!

  3. Mary @ Giving Up on Perfect on February 23rd, 2010 11:15 am

My name is Mary, and I’m addicted to television.

[Insert awkward applause and welcome here.]

Seriously, I watch so much TV that I made myself a spreadsheet to keep it all straight! And then, because I’m so sick, I posted it on my blog. As if others would be helped by my madness!

My favorite shows are Chuck, HIMYM, Castle, NCIS, Modern Family, Community, Bones, White Collar, Psych, Burn Notice, Glee and SYTYCD. And I’m liking Life Unexpected and looking forward to Parenthood.

    (See? I told you I have a problem!) 🙂

  4. Mattie B on February 23rd, 2010 11:51 am

I be Mattie B. I’m a huge TV fan, but like many of the others I have a hard time listing all of my favorites. Mainly because I always forget something. My current top five are probably, in no particular order, Damages, Lost, Friday Night Lights, Mad Men, and Dexter, but all time would include Firefly, BSG, Kings (which I wrote reviews for here during its brief run), Farscape, Veronica Mars and Babylon 5. Oh, and Golden Girls, but that’s so classic it deserves its own category. After taking 3 years to finish all of Buffy and Angel, I’m about to launch in on my own Project Supernatural.

I watch it all for the stories, mainly. There is nothing better than sitting down for an hour of TV and getting so drawn into the story that you get all tingly in your gut. It happened with BSG a lot, where the hour would end and all I could say was “Holy $@&#, that was freaking incredible.” I love discussing it with anyone who will listen, and have been known to get quite animated in my arguments.

My favorite TV quote from all time actually comes from Babylon 5, which would probably out-geek some people here, but it’s Delenn saying “Only one starship captain has ever survived a battle against a Minbari fleet. He is behind me, you are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else.” Goosebumps.

Dammit. GLEE. I forgot Glee. I told you I always forget something. And of all the things to forget, how could I forget that?

  6. Julia Mathias on February 23rd, 2010 12:51 pm

Hi, my name is Julia and I’m a total tv addict. Like many said above to say the exact amount of tv shows is kinda depressing, but if you really wanna know, you can go to my Orangotag profile (http://orangotag.com/user/PopCandy), and beware that the number is actually higher, because they don’t have some canadian and british shows, like SYTYCD UK, and 18 to life. Because I watch this much tv, it’s really difficult to list my favorite shows, my I guess my top 5 would be: Sons of Anarchy, Lost, Mad Men, Friday Night Lights, Supernatural. It’s easy to see that I usually prefer dramas, although I’m learning to appreciate comedy more.

What really draws me to television it’s the opportunity to see rich, and complex stories, that take their time to develop it’s characters. I have a really hard time connecting to fictional characters in movies, for example, but the same doesn’t happen with tv (in good shows of course), probably because of the amount of time we get to spend with the characters. But even if I love the complex, mythology heavy dramas, i also make time for fun tv, like SYTYCD, Vampire Diaries, Glee, etc.

One of the things that pains me the most in life, is the lack of people to discuss american tv where I live. Brazil is huge on soaps, and the audience for series is growing a lot because of downloads (the other option is cable, which I have, but it’s expensive, and the service sucks. Some shows take more than a year to be aired here, and I do not have this kind of patience), but it’s still hard to find people that are as passionate about tv as I’m.

As for quotes, one of my favorites comes from Dexter: “If I had a heart, it would be breaking right now…” But I actually like the portuguese version better: ” Se eu tivesse um coração, ele estaria se partindo nesse momento.”

PS: As you probably noticed, the Orangotag site is brazillian. You can get the english version at http://orangutag.com

  7. Michele on February 23rd, 2010 4:01 pm

Ooh! Pick me! Pick me! I’M Michele and I also watch way too much tv. When I’ve run out of shows that are on now, I catch up with old ones on dvd (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, Weeds, BONES!! -still catching up on that and loving every minute of it…). I can quote every Office episode from start to finish, bought my $5 foot long to save Chuck, Lost, Survivor, Castle, Glee!, Big Bang, HIMYM, Greys, Modern Family, 30 Rock, 24, Idol, Supernatural (which I started watching on TBS thanks to a GMMR tip…)- even smaller shows like Make it or Break it and Warehouse 13. I work from home, so I spend LITERALLY all day watching tv. (Others may find that sad, I love it!) I check GMMR every day and comment whenever I can. I’m a fan on Facebook, and I even joined your DMI branch (Chicopee, MA) back when the game first started! So either I am a stalker, or a pretty big fan. (And I’m pretty sure I’m not a stalker…) :0)

  8. Give Me My Remote on February 23rd, 2010 4:43 pm

How fun to learn so much about all of you. I’m going to ask some friends to help pick the first GMMR TV Fan of the Day. It’s not going to be easy. But remember, if you weren’t chosen for the first posting it doesn’t mean you might not be chosen in the future. Some keep it coming!

  9. Give Me My Remote on February 23rd, 2010 4:46 pm

@Michele – You say “stalker” like it’s a bad thing (and btw, you are not a stalker, just an awesome GMMR supporter…thanks!)

  10. Sarah on February 23rd, 2010 5:18 pm

If there is an awesome television show that is beloved by nerds and critics alike, and lasts three or fewer seasons (usually shortened), I love it! Veronica Mars, Pushing Daisies, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Alias, Felicity, Friday Night Lights (which will last more than three seasons, but is shortened), The O.C., just to name far too many. And then there are the more mainstream: The Office, Bones, HIMYM, Lost, every reality show on Bravo (exception: Housewives. Neither real nor Housewives.), CBS reality shows (Big Brother to the point of obsession this summer…Jeff, hello?), American Idol, and repeats of the Gilmore Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Golden Girls (is anyone angered that this show is not aired in HD yet?). Oh, Dexter. And Mad Men. And Psych. And Burn Notice. Illness, thy name is Television.

I don’t know what it is that draws me to every show, but in looking for some commonality between V.Mars, Felicity, The Office, Friday Night Lights, and even Big Brother, is when a show features a couple (LoVe, Ben/Felicity, Jim/Pam, Tami/Eric, Jeff/Jordan) that seems very natural and real and that you can feel emotionally invested in without feeling like you need an intervention. When Jim finally asked Pam on that date in Season 3, I was high for a week. When Coach Taylor finds out that the other teacher kissed Tami, his reaction (laughing hysterically, “I kissed Glen by proxy?”) is exactly how a secure member of a couple should react.

I love television, and if I could get paid to watch it, I would be over the moon.

    You and me both, Sarah!

  12. Amy on February 23rd, 2010 11:59 pm

Hi my name is Amy and I am a huge huge TV fan. I have a Comcast DVR and my boyfriend always gets mad about the amount of shows I tape. I would have to say I probably watch 50+ shows a week. I can watch that many because of the DVR. Some of my faces are Vampire Diaries, Gilmore Girls, Life Unexpected, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Cougar Town, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kendra, The Girls Next Door, Real World. Celebrity Rehab, House, Lie to Me, Chelsea Lately, etc… I think I should be picked because I can talk about any show and hold up a conversation. I love TV because for that time I can forget about the world around me. I am the ultimate TV fan.

  13. Jaime on February 24th, 2010 8:01 am

Hey, I’m Jaime and like all of you I am a TV junkie! I’m a 31 yr old married mother of one and my favorite things to do is watch TV! That’s why I love this site because I know I’m not alone. I will tell ya’ll one sad fact~I have to type up a spread sheet at the beginning of every fall season to figure out my DVR schedule! How pathetic is that?!

I’ll give the list of shows I watch a try. Some of these I have to watch weekly and some I store up in my DVR and have marathons on the weekends when there’s nothing on TV…..HIMYM, Big Bang, One Tree Hill, Chuck, Bachelor/Bachelorette, Make it or Break it, Life Unexpected, Castle, Greek, Gossip Girl, Melrose, 90210, SYTYCD, LOST, The Good Wife, V, Biggest Loser, Modern Family, CougarTown, The Middle, Glee, Friday Night Lights, Vampire Diaries, Community, Parks & Rec, The Office 30 Rock, Grey’s ANatomy, Private Practice, Flash Forward, Fringe, White Collar, Royal Pains, Smallville, Caprica, Ugly Betty, Amazing Race, Desparate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Army Wives, 10 Things I Hate About You, Idol. Honestly, there could be something that I missed! I’m looking forward to Parenthood soon too!

Some of my favorite shows that are no longer on were Felicity, Dawson’s Creek, Freaks and Geeks, Alias, Battlestar Galactica and Veronica Mars.

I’m beginning to wonder how my husband gets to watch any TV in our house?! Even with the 2 DVRs there are sometimes when it’s just not gonna happen for him…whoops☺

Thanks for all your hard work on this site! It’s an outlet for all of us addicts!!

  14. Mere on February 24th, 2010 2:16 pm

Hello fellow tv addicts, I am Meredith. I watch way to much television and dream to work on a comedy show such as the Office or Glee when I finish college (I can dream right?) I know I am a day late in posting, but that sums up my life. I’m always late and I too have not yet watched last night’s Lost! Over the winter break Best Buy had this great offer on all the seasons of West Wing. They are usually $55, but best buy sold them for $16, so I bought them all. I’m on season 5/7 right now. Which leads me to say my favorite moment on television was when Danny bought CJ a goldfish, when Josh really meant that CJ liked goldfish crackers. I thought it was really sweet.

  15. Elena on February 24th, 2010 3:21 pm

I’m Elena. I’m 22 and graduating college this year. I’ve always been a TV addict–since childhood–and was always told that that was a bad thing. But then I came to realize that I love TV and I’m proud of it so screw everyone who says otherwise.

One of the biggest reasons I love television is because I believe that it is such a powerful tool and when used properly, can really teach and inspire people. I have learned so much about the world just from watching television–which is sad but true. For instance, The West Wing has taught me more about politics and how our government runs than any US history class I’ve ever taken. I just recently watched Band of Brothers, and again, learned so much about how we won WWII. So yeah, I think television can not only be FUN but can also teach.

Like everyone, I have way too many favorites to count but I’ll give it a try:
Dexter, Pushing Daisies, Freaks and Geeks, My So Called Life, Firefly, Alias, Felicity, Dawson’s Creek, Gilmore Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, Chuck, 30 Rock, Lost, Weeds, Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, One Tree Hill, Greek, So You Think You Can Dance …………. I’ll stop there because I could go on and on and on.

Oh gosh, favorite TV moment! I have noooooo idea because there are just sooo many to chose from and my mind has gone completely blank. Up there though is Chuck and Sarah’s kiss in the season 2 finale when they’re laying in bed together–definitely an intense moment–followed by Chuck’s kong fu skills and Casey’s: “Chuck me” line. And pretty much the entire Buffy episode where her mom dies because I just sobbed for 40 minutes straight and was amazed that a TV show could spark that kind of reaction from me.

Anyway, I’ve been reading GMMR for 4+ years now? Can’t remember when I started. But this site has actually inspired me and showed me that TV doesn’t have to just be a hobby so I’ve chosen to pursue it as a career. So thanks Kath!

  16. Alison on February 24th, 2010 9:31 pm

Let’s see where do I start.. my name is Alison and I’m seventeen and I’ve been following TV religiously for 5 years. My first show was Desperate Housewives, and I had just stumbled upon it, and it just kind of snowballed from there. I watched way, way to much tv, if I had to count all of my shows per week… actually I’m going to, and its 30!! Oh my god I really did not know I watched that much =]. My favorites right now are Glee, Chuck, Lost, HIMYM, BBT, Modern Family, Vampire Diaries, the Office, and Parks and Recreation. That’s not even the shows that are over like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, Pushing Daisies, and Arrested Development. I’m definitely forgetting some though. My dvd collection keeps growing, and it’s really like a library now. Also, right now I’m doing my own Project Supernatural (which I’m watching on TNT) and Friday Night Lights (which is awesome!). I just finished Jack & Bobby which is ahmazingg!! I heart Matt Long! Anyway, I’ve never really been able to figure out why I love tv so much, I mean I’m definitely not like most of the kids my age but I think that’s a good thing. I think tv always distracted me from whatever was going on in my life, and I guess it’s a better escape than what most people do in my school. So, basically my point is, I love tv!!

  17. Emily on February 25th, 2010 9:57 am

Hi, I’m Emily. Can I join your TV-aholics club? I’ve been a TV fan my entire life. Growing up I think I knew what day of the week it was by what was on TV that night…Growing Pains and Who’s the Boss on Tuesdays, Family Ties and Cosby Show on Thursdays, etc. In Jr. High I mastered the art of VCR programming so I could get my Days of Our Lives (Jack and Jennifer) fix and today I would die without my DVR.

It’s so hard for me to choose which show is my favorite, but it’s easy to say I adore pretty much anything JJ Abrams or Josh Schartz has a hand in and I’m not ashamed to reveal my girl crush on Lauren Graham.

It was after the Jim and Pam moment on Casino Night that I found GMMR and I’ve been a regular visitor ever since. Thanks, Kath!
