Adam Scott Joining PARKS & REC - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Adam Scott Joining PARKS & REC

March 5, 2010 by

The population of Pawnee is suddenly booming.  A few days after word came down that Rob Lowe would be joining the cast in a recurring role, it was just announced that Adam Scott is also going to be hanging out with the Parks Department.  Scott will first appear at the end of this season but will return to PARKS & RECREATION next season as a series regular. According to TV Guide, Adam will be a love interested for Amy Poehler’s, Leslie Knope.

“Adam is one of the funniest and most versatile performers around,” said executive producer Michael Schur. “When we designed the character he is going to play, we used him as the dream scenario of who we could get.”

Excited to see what Adam can bring to this already talented cast.  He and Poehler are going to be fantastic counterparts. But if Leslie is getting a new love interest, I guess that means Justin (played by Justin Theroux) won’t be coming back anytime soon.  Was I the only one that liked him?

As a long time fan of Adam I’m excited about this news. But what does this mean for his other series, the hilarious PARTY DOWN on Starz? It’s not good news.  If the series is picked up for next season, Adam would only be able to return to his role as Henry Pollard for three episodes.  A tough break for PARTY DOWN who this season lost Jane Lynch to GLEE. They lost a Lynch but gained a Mullally, as in Megan Mullally. PARTY DOWN returns on April 23rd.

I’m really excited about this casting.  Anyone else?

This is exciting! Maybe Rob Thomas can find another Veronica Mars alum to join the cast of Party Down to make up for losing Henry.

This is exciting for the part of me that loves P&R, but very sad for the part that loves Party Down. Adam Scott is so the heart of that show, but I trust that they can make a hugely entertaining show without him too. Let’s not forget that they once had Jane “Sue Sylvester” Lynch and managed to survive her leaving. Plus, Ron Swanson’s real life wife Megan Mullaly is on PD now, so maybe we’ll have lots of opportunity for guest spots between the shows?

Lastly, PD season 1 needs to be out on DVD already! It’s been WAY too long, but the wait is over next month.
