Who Went Home on AMERICAN IDOL?

March 11, 2010 by

Tonight the silver stools were dusted off in anticipation of the 12 AMERICAN IDOL contestants that made it to the next level of competition. With 16 contestants in the running that means that we said goodbye to four more contestants tonight.  Two guys and two girls.  If you missed the live show and want to know who went home tonight, continue reading.

There were a few forgone conclusions tonight.  I don’t think it was a big surprise that Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, or Michael Lynche made it through to the Top 12. But three of the four contestants that went home were complete shockers…at least to me. And just minutes after watching, I’m still reeling from tonight’s results.

The two ladies who left the competition tonight were Katelyn Epperly and Lilly Scott.  No, I’m not kidding. Give yourself a minute to take it all in.  The voting public kept Lacey Brown, Paige Miles and Katie Stevens in the running but sent home the majorly talented Lilly and Katelyn, both who have had  strong performances through the live portion of this competition.  Not since Chris Daughtry was ousted too early in his season have I been so utterly disappointed in the IDOL voting audience.  So disappointed.

To add insult to injury, my very favorite guy was sent home tonight too.  Alex Lambert, the contestant on the guy’s side that I thought the single most potential to grow into a relevant recording artist was sent packing along with Todrick Hall.  This one devastates me.  I’m holding out hope that some record producer has seen Alex’s performances and knows that that given a chance, this kid can be great.

I don’t mean to be childish here, but right now I’m so disappointed that I’m in one of those places where I really could care less about the rest of the IDOL season.  Of course, I’ll get over it, but it’s just really bumming me out right now.

Anyone else surprised by the ousting of Katelyn, Lilly, Alex and Todrick?  Did the right people make it into this year’s Top 12?

Crazy results. I’m still in shock. I thought Katelyn was the next Kelly Clarkson last week and this week she’s gone. I’m most surprised about Lily Scott. Although I’m not her biggest fan, she had the pimp spot which pretty much guarantees you move on to the next round. This is the first time that I can remember that the person that sang last went home.

I’m with you, Kath. Utterly devastated that Alex is gone and watching him fall apart was unbearable. This season is wretched and for me, Alex was the one bright spot. Crystal’s fine and she knows what she’s doing but Alex’s voice is killer and without question the best thing on that show. I’m angry that the judges put him through this early; he needs some time with a vocal coach. I’m with you, I really really hope somebody heard him and he’ll get signed somehow but I fear he’s going to be stuck in coffeehouses, never to be heard from again.

I wasn’t the hugest fan of Lilly but that’s ludicrous. And while I’m not all that sad that Todrick’s gone, he should have stayed over Aaron Kelly, Tim Urban, at a push Andrew Garcia. Lee Dewyze refuses to sing on pitch and while Big Mike is the most consistent, he insists on singing like a wedding singer, circa 1995.

I just had to post about how sad I am too about Alex being eliminated. I loved the tone of his voice and while his stage presence definitely needed work, it would have been fun to see him grow. I had a bad feeling last night when he had to perform 2nd. Why did they put him here? It seemed really unfair considering he went 4th last week and the one of the guys before him was John Park who was eliminated. So this week he should have been no earlier than 6th. What a disappointment.

This is insane, all my favorites are gone. This season is almost unbearable. I really don’t see anybody that could actually have a carrer in music. I guess Crystal might have a shot but she is not really likeable. I just I still have Siobhan who is interesting.

I agree with you Kath, I was surprised by almost all of the eliminations but I’m the most sad about Alex Lambert, I thought he was uber talented and loved his song choices. Personally I think this season is a little weak, so I say just give the title to Crystal Bowersox and call it a day.

I was totally shocked, and clearly so were the other Idols contestants. Did you see Crystal Bowersox’s face? After it was announced that Katelyn was going home she looked like she wanted to kill people. If you watch her mouth when everyone was hugging Katelynn rights after she it was announced she said “this is F#$%ed up” and she was right!

Did that really happen? Did Alex Lambert really go home? And I know I might be the only one saying this but I would have rather had Katelyn stay over Lilly.

I really liked Katelyn and I loved Alex. I’m so sad to see him go. I wish the judges would pull an Anoop-de-loop and make it a top 13. C’mon judges!

By the way, did anyone else see Todrick in the audience making fun of Alex? He was doing the sad face with the stuck out lip. So stupid!
