SURVIVOR: Say it Ain’t So…Noooo!

April 2, 2010 by

Are the Gods trying to tell me I watch too much reality TV? AMERICAN IDOL has the worst talent ever. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE announced their changing their format. Jeff & Jordan are Philiminated on THE AMAZING RACE. And in a year when I decided to give SURVIVOR another shot, my favorite player, Boston Rob, was sent packing during last night’s tribal council. Make it stop!

Thanks to Coach (and others, but I’m choosing to blame that annoying douche), Boston Rob was sent home last night by a vote of 4-3. Although I loathe him, there’s no denying that Russell made another big move by orchestrating the ousting of one of the game’s best players. Strategically Rob was a powerhouse. I think he was an even better player this season than he was in his two previous seasons because he brought not only his smarts, but also a new level of maturity which helped him better lead and better communicate with others. But he was outdone by Russell.

Getting rid of Rob definitely the best move for Russ, but was it the right move for the Villains? I don’t think so. Rob has carried them on his shoulders since their first day on the island. He was their leader both in camp and during the competitions. Russell plays a smart but a very individual game, and I think the Villains are going to fall hard without a strong leader.

Rob was the reason that I decided to watch this season, but I’m not going to stop just because he’s gone. But I will be switching allegiances. I’m now squarely on Team Heroes! Whether it’s Colby or JT, I don’t care. I just want those guys to kick it up a notch, merge tribes and kick Russell out on his cocky ass. (Don’t be mistaken, I can’t help but be in awe of what Russell’s brought to the game, but I don’t have to like it. Not a bit. Not this soon.)

Sorry I don’t have more to offer about last night’s episode, but my DVR frakked up and didn’t record it. I got home in enough time to watch from the Immunity Challenge on, but I suppose that’s the most important part anyway, right?

I’m still in mourning. It doesn’t seem real. Can’t they find a way to bring him back? Can’t the power of Probst make it happen? Tell me it was all a dream…or nightmare.

From start to finish I couldn’t agree with this post more!

You can blame me 🙂 I was chanting at the screen “Please let Rob go….Please let Rob go…” and literally cheered at the announcement. For some reason, I have just disliked him from the first time he was on the show. Maybe it’s the accent (even though I am from Massachusetts), maybe it’s something else–was upset to see him on AR as well. Also, I felt like Russell was robbed his season, so he needed to stay.

NOT a fan of Boston Rob, but I wanted Russell to go home this week and then Rob next week. Rob was a slimy, disrespectful player and should have never been invited to play the FIRST All-Stars (where he finally made a name for himself after just being a run-of-the-mill-Godfather-quoting-db in Marquesas). That being said, he was his MOST likable during this season and I felt a little bad when he was voted off (only because it was before Russell).

Hopefully Sandra can hang on! I’d love it if she could win again! I’ve seen teases about the finale that someone might be considered the best ever (hope it’s not Parvati sliming her way to the finals).

I wish Probst would have just called everyone out at Tribal Council and questioned why the tribe doesn’t just pull together to oust the two biggest blowhards, Rob and Russell? They obviously respect each other more than anyone else since they tried so hard to get rid of each other. The rest of the tribe should’ve recognized this and just banded together over that fact. Rob Cesternino would have done that. Now HE was a game changing player! Yes, I’m still bitter that Boston Rob got Rob C. voted out of All-Stars. Having those small tribes was the WORST idea for Survivor. It was too easy to dominate a tribe since you didn’t need very many votes to make a majority.

It was nice to see Colby take down Jerri in the wrestling/basketball challenge! I guess they didn’t miss each other! Hopefully he can gain some kind of true alliance to get to the end of the game.

They showed James’ true character this season after a pleasing edit that previously earned him TWO fan favorite cash bonuses (I can happily say I NEVER voted for him). ICK. Now, I wish Rupert would go away. He is quite annoying and he’s out-stayed his 15 minutes of pirate fame. He got his fan bonus of a freakin’ million dollars. Enough.

I wish JT would pull his head out and get in an alliance with Colby and Candace, but Amanda just won’t have that. It seems JT is solidly with Amanda (probably because of her connections to the Villains tribe with Parvati) and Amanda doesn’t like Candace. Plus, JT wants to be the only strong man in his alliance so that he can win the individual immunities after the merge. I hope they don’t merge yet and the Heroes can win another one.

It is ridiculously unfair that they are playing with Russell and haven’t had the chance to see how he plays the game. Jeff did announce his standing as one of the all-time villains when they started the game, but who knows how many people were listening.
