Who Went Home on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

Update: Want to know who went home on SYTYCD tonight? Click here to find out: Who Went Home on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (July 15)

PREVIOUS POST
After tonight’s elimination, we’re down to single digits. The top 10 will become the top 9 tonight on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. If you listened to our SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE podcast then you know who my choice is to tap her way off the stage tonight (oh, did I let it slip who I wanted gone? I hate when that happens.) But you never know how the votes are going to go down and who the judges will choose to save.

For those of you who can’t be near a TV tonight, or maybe living on the West Coast and just can’t wait to know who was in the bottom three, then stay tuned as I’ll be sharing the highlights from tonight’s episode LIVE! Be the first to know who went home.

Top 10 Group Dance
This routine had Sonya written all over it, and that ain’t a bad thing. Although it started off a bit slow for me, by mid-way through my eyes couldn’t keep up with everything going on in the stage. That number certainly warrants a re-watch.

Not one to dilly-dally, Cat gets right into the results…

  • Kent – SAFE
  • AdeChicke – SAFE
  • Christina – BOTTOM THREE
  • Alex – SAFE
  • Jose – SAFE
  • Ashley – SAFE
  • Melinda – BOTTOM THREE
  • Lauren – SAFE
  • Robert –  BOTTOM THREE
  • Billy – SAFE

I’ll be honest, I’m fine with these three dancing for their life tonight. Christina and Melinda aren’t the same caliber of the other dancers this season. Robert danced well enough to be safe, but I have to wonder if his big personality is as off-putting to others as it is to me. Remember folks, it’s America’s favorite dancer…personality plays a big part.

All three are still in it until after they dance. The judges get the final say so it’s still all a bit up in the air. I’m going to go ahead and guess that they’ll want to keep the show’s only ballroom dancer, Christina as well as Robert who is one of their favorites.

Give Me My ‘Remote Control’
This is the part of the show where I usually take a water break, but rather than some crap pop act, we’re getting to see the very special talents of Brian Gaynor. What a treat! And hot damn, Brian and his crew ‘Remote Control’ killed it! They were spectacular!!

Dancing For Your Life

  • Christina – I have to give it to Christina, it’s not easy to dance solo as a Latin ballroom dancer, but she really gave it her all.
  • Melinda – Sorry, I can’t pretend to like her, but it’s more than that. Tap just does NOT translate in this medium. The mic’d stage takes the audience out of the performance.
  • Robert – Dude, you MUST tone down your obnoxious personality. There is no reason someone with your talent should be in the bottom.  It’s like SURVIVOR, you have to play a ‘social’ game too.  You need to appeal to the fans who pick up the phone and vote for you.

Yes, Please…

Remember what I was saying about having to watch a crap pop act? Well if you back the musical guest with the SYTYCD All Stars then I’m going to be watching every week.  We were just saying during last night’s podcast that the Thursday results show should feature the All Stars dancing their own numbers.  This I like! (And it’s not just Mark shirtless…Neil is in a tank too!)

Going Home Tonight…

The judges have come to a decision and Nigel lets us know it’s not unanimous. Tonight we are saying goodbye to Christina. Really?  Melinda for another week?  Ugh.  Well, maybe others are seeing something I’m not.

Were you sad to see Christina go home?  Were the right three in the bottom tonight?  Talk to us!

Stay tuned to GMMR.  Korbi is at tonight’s live taping of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and she’ll bring us the reaction from the judges and tonight’s eliminated contestant, Christina.

Totally agree with you on Melinda. I actually am starting to wonder what the judges are on….she is clearly not as talented as the others, and yet is never critiqued. I thought her performance last night was wretched. And her actress/model/singer/dancer aspirations are just not in keeping with the spirit of the show. It’s about DANCE. She should seek her 15 minutes of fame elsewhere. P.S. What’s up with the high-waisted pants all the time? Outie?

I totally agree with you about Melinda. I haven’t really enjoyed her presence since I first saw her audition. I was truly shocked to see that the judges wanted he for the top 5 girls. I don’t know what they see in her. If I was a judge I would of voted her off last week. Not pushed her on to another week.

I asked Nigel and Mia about the mystery of Melinda tonight… stay tuned!!

Yes. I HATE Melinda. She’s so annoying. GOD! And robert too. They can both leave. At least Christina tried. And she was nice. I would rather see her for another week than either of them either mugging the camera or vomiting numbers.

At least all my favorites were safe.
Also, the guys are way better than the girls this year. Lets just face it Billy and Kent and Alex are sweet and awesome.

Melinda is so brutal. I don’t get it at all…her personality is so fake, and her non-tap dancing is brutal. I hope she taps herself to the bottom three again next week!
