SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Yo Legacy, Any Thoughts on Jose Saying He’s a Better B-Boy Than You?

June 25, 2010 by

Am I a troublemaker? I don’t know, maybe. You might think so.

Or, perhaps, you could say I’m a peacemaker.

Depends how you look at it.

But the fact is, when I saw Season 6 SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE alum, Legacy, backstage at the show last night, I absolutely had to corner the kid and ask him how he feels about Season 7 finalist Jose Ruiz straight-up telling the judges that he’s a better B-Boy than Legacy.

And it’s not like he didn’t see it coming. All I had to do was mention the auditions and inquire whether or not he’d had the chance to watch and I got an immediate reaction.

“Wooo! I know exactly where you’re goin’, girl!” was his exact response, actually, and you can see it for yourself in the video below.

“You know, [Jose]’s from Florida [as I am] and, you know, I always respect B-Boys. I welcome them. [Season 3 alum] Dom[inic Sandoval] and me, we meet and we talk. It’s a good thing,” he continued. “[But] I don’t know how I really felt deep inside about, you know, [Jose] calling me out  in a sense, saying ‘better’ because we don’t do that normally. And if you do, you have a battle. So, you might see a battle.”

Now, whether Legacy wants that battle to be on the street or on the stage, you’ll have to watch the clip to find out.

So peep that below. We’re also talking about what he’s up to right now (which happens to involve season 5 alum Kupono and a two-time Oscar-winner) and if he’d like to return to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE as a possible all-star sometime in the future…

What do you think?

A battle is in order, no?

Between Jose and Legacy, whom do you think is the better B-Boy?

I do love Jose and all, but Legacy is definitely better. Hands down. Sorry, Jose.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of Jose’s at all. This kind of egoism doesn’t appeal to me and frankly I’m not that blown away by his dancing. Legacy is a better b-boy and a better all-around dancer.

I have nothing to say on the Legacy/Jose drama, but Korbi, I’ve said before you are a trouble maker. Need I remind you of the angst you put the Bones fans through in the post-mortem chats? You are an instigator, but that’s why we love you. 😛

Haha, I love seeing a BONES-lover up in some SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE business!

Hahaha, but Colleen is SO right Korbi!

I LOVE Legacy. Nothing against Jose, but I just think Legacy is awesome and Jose doesn’t compare! But both have great energy and stage presence – you can’t help but smiling watching Jose!

    Hands down Legacy

I adore the heart Jose has — however, to call Legacy out like that was immature in my eyes, simply because it’s obvious he is not a better dance than Legacy. Legacy was brilliant in so many different genre’s of dance. He was constantly growing. Humble. And just all around a beautiful dancer — Jose, is not at all as gifted as Legacy is. He does have his charm, but he’s simply not as talented as Legacy. He has had moments, flickers of something good — but Legacy had moments — not even that, it was bigger than mere moments, in which he greatness shone.
Without a doubt, Legacy trumps Jose.

Yeah, I’m a Legacy lover. I’m 51 yrs. old and could watch him dance all genres and never get tired. He just kept getting better. Jose, he’s such a young sweetie and someday may come close to where Legacy is today, but I don’t think he will ever catch up with him. He has a lot of heart, but Jose, young man, Respect Your Elders Always! We did the things first. Just watch and keep growing, you are learning. Word of Warning Jose, Don’t let your alligator mouth, overload you hummingbird bottom!

    Legacy. Period.
