GOSSIP GIRL: What Dan, Serena and All Your Favorite Upper East Siders Will Be Up To in Season 4

So, yesterday, we laid some Chuck Bass season 4 knowledge on you — straight from the mouths of GOSSIP GIRL producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage — and today, we’re talking Dan… and Georgina and Serena and Vanessa, Nate, Eric and Katie Cassidy’s new character too…
We’re gonna get right into it: Does Georgina’s baby really belong to Dan?
Stephanie Savage: (Smiles) Georgina’s baby is Georgina’s baby. And you will learn more as the episodes unfold.
We just saw a season 4 promo that showed Dan cradling an infant. Was that Georgina’s baby he was holding?
SS: That was Georgina’s baby, yes. It was not Dorota’s — I’ve been asked that.
How will you handle the storyline, being that Georgina is a teen mom?
SS: Well, it’s Georgina, so is she really a teen? (Laughs) I think she might be immortal, maybe she’s like 200 years old… No, on the one hand, there’s a lot of humor coming from these young people trying to deal with this unexpected situation, but there’s also a lot of underlying emotion and heart in this story too. I think it’s a great storyline for Penn [Badgley] and Michelle [Trachtenberg] to do together because they both [are capable of making] this heightened, over-the-top situation feel like something that’s much more grounded and real.
How will Rufus and Lily and the rest of the family take it?
Josh Schwartz: (Laughs) How do you think they take it? Not terribly well. But Dan is a good guy and he’s going to do the right thing.
What about Serena and Vanessa?
JS: It’s going to complicate [his relationship with] them. It’s going to be a big source of conflict, especially [concerning] Serena [who is trying to choose] between Nate and Dan.
SS: Serena left in a place of being a little unsure of who she really wanted to be with and that is a question that Blair asks her at the beginning of the first episode. [She says] you can’t go back to New York without making a choice. You know, who knows what the guys are thinking, but what’s in your heart and who do you really want to be with? And that’s something that will occupy quite a bit of Serena’s time as the year goes on.
And Vanessa?
SS: Vanessa is back from Haiti and she’s definitely going to be [involved] in the Dan storyline for the first half of the season.
If Georgina’s baby is a complication for Serena and Dan, we can only assume that Katie Cassidy’s character will be a complication for Serena and Nate…
SS: Katie Cassidy is someone that we’re really excited about. We had this idea for a character that was going to come on and go head-to-head with Serena and Blair and cause a lot of problems and have a romantic relationship with Nate, but we were very concerned about casting because [we didn’t know] who we could add to the mix that [would] feel like she’s on the same level as those actors. And Katie just seemed like she’d be able to nail it and she’s doing a great job.
Will her character be playing nice with others?
JS: Friendly with some, less friendly with others.
How about Eric? With Jenny absent for the first part of the season, will we be seeing him at all?
JS: I think Eric has developed into a strong character. He was such a key part of the Jenny storyline last year and I think you’ll continue to see him be fleshed out, especially when Jenny returns. That’s when you’ll really see Eric start to come back to the floor.
Any relationship drama for him?
JS: We’ll continue presenting [Eric dating] in a really honest, forward way.

Eric should not be an accessory for Jenny. IMO it should be the other way around. The one thing I hope for when Jenny returns, is that she’s ‘jenny’ again not Taylor Momsen. Last year the outfits screamed Taylor, the attitude screamed Taylor. The character of Jenny may have needed to grow up during the second half of season 2 and season 3, but she shouldn’t have grown into Taylor Momsen.
The answer was for vanessa and s not only for S. Give something to V fans…i hate these show… Give some love too Vanessa!!!
Once again, no question for Blair. She is a lead, right?
This bb story line makes me sad for Dan. I’m 99.9% sure it’s not his kid, and when Georgina drops that bomb on him (maybe in a custody dispute?), he will be devastated I’m sure.
Eric and Vanessa have become dead weight on this show. However, I do agree with Jess that sometime early on last season, Jenny Humphrey did morph into Taylor Momsen somehow.
My wishes for the new season of GG:
– Rufus grows a backbone and some common sense
– Dan finds himself a healthy relationship
– Someone finally calls out Serena for being just as much of an untrustworthy flake as her friend Blair
– Get rid of the dead weight (see above)
– Lily and Chuck find (and commit to seeing) decent psychiatrists
– Taylor Momsen stops playing Taylor Momsen

WHY would she pick nate? they had like no chemistry

Is it even a question who Serena should or will pick? She will always go back to Dan Humphrey. Wherever he is, is where she belongs. She and Nate are such a joke. All they are is sex and fantasy. She and Dan really love each other. They’re just meant to be.
Why on earth would Serena ever choose the Dan over Nate?! All Dan ever did was judge her and get mad when she wasn’t perfect. I’m so freaking sick of DS going back and forth. Penn and Blake have no onscreen chemistry and DS just don’t work and are so ridiculously boring. Please, we do not need DS 4.0 They clearly aren’t good for each other.
OMG ,serena should go with nate.serena and nate are golden couple,if there have no NS,i will not watch GG.
I want Serena/Dan back together. For me Serena’s “feelings” for Nate came out of nowhere and that relationship seems to be more about lust then love. I think Season 1 was so much better then the other two seasons and Serena was a much better character back then. they need to find that season 1 feel again and start by making Dan/Serena as amazing as they were in season 1
NATE. you can’t just start something, call them the golden couple. build them up for years and then knock them down without proper exploration. DS had been done to death. NS barely scratched the surface. THEY’RE MYTHIC. Blair is Team Nate. Chuck is Team Nate. And they know what’s up.

Dan is SO annoying! He has nothing in common with Serena and has no charm. It’s obvious that he and V belong together. They both hate being social and complain about everything. Plus they have so much chemistry. They should just be dull together. Nate and Serena on the other hand are hot. For some reason Nate is always written as the good guy, the one who understands and has you’re back but for some reason in his brief Serena moments its always just about sex. His character is not contingent. That’s just poor writing. Saying he and S have nothing in common is ridiculous seeing as the they’ve grown up together and not to mention that the series started with her return to the Upper East side having escaped previously b/c she cheated w/ Nate (cause they love each other) while he was dating her BFF B. They set up the romance but never develop it. Something more absurd just happens to make them prolong/end it.
OMG Jenny is just ugh. She needs to take responsibility and needs to stop seeing herself as a victim. She just needs to go away permanently. Oh and don’t get me started on Rufus. He should disappear too.
