BACHELOR PAD WTF Moment of the Week: Friend or Foe

September 14, 2010 by

So, BACHELOR PAD aired its finale last night. Anyone else watch the series all the way through? Or maybe, more importantly, was anyone else a little surprised that the trashy series took a semi-classy turn as it ended?

While the episode started off with six finalists, by the end Elizabeth, Kovacs, Tenley and Kiptyn were eliminated, leaving only Natalie and David to vie for the cash.

But wait…”shocking” twist ahead! It’s not all it seems!

Instead of having a singular winner, Natalie and David got to decide whether they would share the money with each other or try and keep it all for themselves.

In other words, if Natalie and David each picked “share,” they’d split the $250,000 and each walk away with $125,000. If one person chose the “keep” option and the other person chose to share, the person who chose “keep” would get the entire pot themselves. If they both chose to play it selfish and go with “keep”, the money would be split evenly among all of the eliminated contestants.

I mean, come on. I guessed the “twist” as soon as they showed us the upcoming scenes hinting at a shocking reveal about the money.

They do realize this was the basis for the series FRIEND OR FOE, right?  Maybe I watched too much Game Show Network as a kid and no one at BACHELOR PAD realized the connection. Then again I’m not sure the producers of BACHELOR PAD were that intent on creating something fresh or original.  Who knows?

As D and N debated what to do, almost everyone seemed sure David would share, but since Natalie often does what she deems best for her, many former contestants doubted whether she would be willing to share the prize money.

When they brought the contestants back out, David said he chose to share. Natalie immediately asked if she could say something before she revealed her vote. You could practically hear everyone in the audience thinking, “Oh s***!” Heck, the contestants looked equally as uncomfortable and host Chris Harrison stalled for a few moments before he let her talk.

And really, Natalie might have acting in her future. She said that everyone had always said you would take your friends as far as you could go, and then you had to go from there. It seemed she was gearing up to screw David over and take the money for herself — but nope, she actually chose to share it.

So Natalie and David co-won BACHELOR PAD.

Woo?

Frankly, I’m not sure if I even care. But it sure was a trainwreck to watch their journey.

But what about you? Are you cool with them winning?

Did you enjoy this season of BACHELOR PAD? Hoping ABC will bring it back again next summer?

Oh my God it was such a train wreck…but I couldn’t seem to turn away. To be honest, in the end…all I cared about was Kipley. Hope they really do make it.
