Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Monday, October 18, 2010

October 18, 2010 by

Rise and shine and give [fill in the blank as we wouldn’t want to impose our religious beliefs on you] your glory, glory!

Perhaps it’s a little bit of false pep, but it’s really early as I write this, so I’m gonna have to fake it until I make it (or until I can get a large coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts).

No need to fake my genuine excitement for tonight’s TV though. As always, so much to watch, so little space on the DVR.

Here are a few highlights from this evening’s TV lineup.  I would love to know what YOU are watching!

Chuck | 8pm on NBC
“Chuck Versus the Couch Look”
Casey is shadowed by his past when his former team returns and searches for him. Meanwhile, Chuck continues his quest to find his mother, and Morgan tries to summon the courage to disclose a delicate secret to Casey. Guest stars include Eric Roberts, Joel David Moore, Dave Batista and Mekenna Melvin.

How I Met Your Mother | 8pm on CBS
“Architect of Destruction”
Ted has a crisis when he falls for a beautiful woman who wants to save a landmark building that’s being destroyed to make room for a building he’s designing.

Dancing with the Stars | 8pm on ABC
“Performances”
The fifth week of performances features contestants dancing to TV-theme songs. [GMMR: Have they done this before? This sounds beyond lame. Seriously, people are going to be ballroom dancing to TV themes? Who gets ‘Full House’ and who gets ‘Growing Pains’?]

House | 8pm on Fox
“Unplanned Parenthood
The mother (Jennifer Grey) of a newborn with breathing difficulties and liver failure must make a very difficult decision that could affect her own health as well as her baby’s. Meanwhile, Cuddy tells House to hire a woman for his team, and he delegates the task to Foreman and Taub. Cuddy also asks House to babysit her daughter, Rachel, and he and Wilson learn a parenting lesson in the process.

Lie to Me | 9pm on Fox
“Dirty Loyal
The Lightman Group is hired to look into police profiling following an incident involving Wallowski (Monique Gabriela Curnen), and it turns out that Internal Affairs want Cal to incriminate her.

The Event | 9pm on NBC
“Casualties of War”
The CDC tries to identify the contagion and treat those infected as the biological threat intensifies; Simon asks Sophia to betray Thomas..

Castle | 10pm on ABC
“Anatomy of a Murder”
An unknown woman falls out of a casket along with the original deceased when pallbearers lose control of the casket at a funeral; the investigation takes Beckett and Castle into the world of amorous, bed-hopping physicians. [GMMR: How good do the previews of this ep look? Seriously loving the nod to Grey’s. ]

Hawaii Five-0 | 10pm on CBS
“Nalowale”
When the daughter of the U.S. ambassador to the Philippines is found dead, the governor tasks Five-0 with finding her abducted sister.

Chase | 10pm on NBC
“Above the Law”
A white-collar fugitive turns violent in an attempt to escape; sparks fly between Annie and a bounty hunter (Eddie Cibrian); Jimmy and Luke start to bond. [GMMR: I seriously haven’t heard one peep from anyone watching this show. Not on GMMR. Not on Twitter. How is it still on the air and LONE STAR was gone after two episodes? Blows my mind.]

Weeds | 10pm on Showtime
“To Moscow, and Quickly
Baby Stevie takes ill and Nancy and Andy frantically search for a pediatrician. Meanwhile, the rest of the Botwin clan attempt to move some product at a children’s concert.

The Big C | 10:30pm on Showtime
“The Ecstasy and the Agony”
Dr. Todd has news about Cathy’s opportunity to participate in a clinical trial; Sean plays matchmaker for Marlene; and Adam and Andrea get into a fight at a party. Later, Cathy and Lenny take Ecstasy and are caught in a compromising position by Paul, which leads him to make a decision about their marriage.

Also playing…

  • Rules of Engagement | 8:30pm on CBS: Audrey contemplates quitting her job after realizing how miserable it makes her; Allison tells Timmy she wants to slow things down.
  • Two and a Half Men | 9pm on CBS: Alan pretends to be Charlie when he goes out on the town; Charlie sneaks off for cosmetic surgery.
  • The Real Housewives of Atlanta | 9pm on Bravo: Kandi travels to Palm Springs to support Kim; NeNe discusses Brice’s brush with the law; Shere reunites with her oldest daughter.

seriously, there is no mad men post or front page mention at all? The day after the season finale? strange, sad TV blog.

There is something on the way. However, we usually cover MAD MEN in The TV Talk Podcast and not on the site. But thanks for your really nice comment.

Well, besides the MNF going on in my house… I am frighteningly drawn to watch ‘Dancing with the Stars’, maybe the awkward dance moves of the ‘stars’, or the flashy costumes, or the possible chance that some sexy hot guy might throw his shirt off, I continue to watch the madness. Therefore I must DVR… ‘How i met your mother’ , and ‘Lie to Me’. I loved Nathan Fillion since ‘Firefly’, so I must watch ‘Castle’… love it! I loved last Halloween episode with him dressed as Capt. Tight Pants! So the new ‘Hawaii Five-O is on DVR. Tried to get into ‘the Event’, but I just couldn’t feel it.
