Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Wednesday, October 27, 2010

October 27, 2010 by

What up, Wednesday!

We’re halfway there, friends.

And ABC has a Halloween comedy block built to frighten tonight.

Also, for the lucky few who have DirecTV, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS returns for its 5th season premiere this evening.

Lots to enjoy.

Peep the episodes on tap…

The Middle | 8pm on ABC
“Halloween”
Frankie is excited over being invited to an adult neighborhood Halloween party. But will she be able to get Mike to dress up in a costume, or will he have his own idea of fun? Meanwhile, a melancholy Sue’s spirits are lifted when she discovers that Reverend TimTom is back in town and hosting a Halloween church event; things don’t go quite as planned for Axl, his friends or their dates as they head out to an exclusive haunted house party; and Brick chooses a unique Halloween costume that is not easily defined.

Survivor: Nicaragua | 8pm on CBS
“What Goes Around, Comes Around”
A public display of emotion causes one castaway to doubt the intentions of an old rival whom she suspects has been lobbying for sympathy.

Undercovers | 8pm on NBC
“Xerces”
After renowned weapons dealer, Xerxes, hides the formula to a dangerous and lethal biological weapon in a painting, Shaw (Gerald McRaney) assigns Steven (Boris Kodjoe) and Samantha (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) the task of traveling to Tuscany to secure the painting and capture Xerxes. When the assignment requires Samantha to assume a previous cover and partner with Steven’s enemy, Clive (guest star Sean Maguire, “Meet the Spartans”), the Blooms learn that teaming together is not as easy as they thought. Meanwhile, Hoyt’s (Ben Schwartz) attraction to Clive’s assistant proves to be instrumental in finding the culprit.

America’s Next Top Model | 8pm on The CW
“Zac Posen”
Designer Zac Posen surprises the girls at their beach house to inform them they will be wearing his fall 2010 collection during this week’s runway challenge. The girls put their personality to the test when they shoot their very first commercial while wearing roller skates on the beach. [GMMR: Let’s hope we’re in for some hilarious falls!]

Better With You | 8:30pm on ABC
“Better With Halloween”
It’s Halloween, which is also the date of Maddie’s birthday. Because Maddie feels like she can never have a real birthday — since the holiday always steals the spotlight — Mia and Casey offer to give her a Halloween-free party at their new home, the renovated firehouse. Ben, however, wasn’t listening when Maddie told him what she wanted for a gift, so Joel tells him about what he does whenever he messes up. Meanwhile, Maddie and Vicky warn Mia that couples living together shouldn’t look behind each other’s “curtain,” for fear they might learn things they should never know about each other; when Mia finds a mysterious videotape among Casey’s things, she wonders what it might reveal behind his curtain. [GMMR: Is it sad that I’m looking forward to seeing the firehouse’s renovations? Have they been shown already? I didn’t watch last week.]

Modern Family | 9pm on ABC
“Halloween”
Claire loves Halloween and is gearing up to spookify the Dunphy house for the trick or treaters. She gives each family member a role to play, but none of it goes quite right… Cameron can’t shake a traumatic childhood experience and hates the holiday, Mitchell has had a terrible day at work, and Gloria is acting weird after Jay and Manny teased her about her accent.

Criminal Minds | 9pm on CBS
“Devil’s Night”
The BAU team must find a killer who has struck Detroit for the past three years solely during the raucous pre-Halloween celebration of “Devil’s Night.”

Hellcats | 9pm on The CW
“The Match Game”
Desperate to raise funds to get them to Nationals, the Hellcats plan a date auction. However, things take a unexpected turn after Savannah’s old boyfriend Noah shows up and outbids Dan, Morgan wins a date with a horrified Marti and Vanessa is bid on by a mystery man whom she suspects is Red trying to win her back. Vanessa frets over whether to tell Derrick about the date as the money will cover the trip to Nationals for the Hellcats. Meanwhile, Lewis continues to keep a secret from the team.

Friday Night Lights | 9pm on DirecTV | Season Premiere
“Expectations”
In the Season 5 opener, Landry prepares to leave for college; Julie spends some quality time with Coach; Riggins enjoys a serious job prospect.

Cougar Town | 9:30pm on ABC
“You Don’t Know How It Feels”
Jules is determined to connect with her dad (guest star Ken Jenkins, “Scrubs”) — so much so that she gives in to dressing up for Halloween, his favorite holiday. Meanwhile, Grayson hits it off with Jules’ dad, Bobby wants back in as baby Stan’s guardian, should anything happen to Ellie and Andy, and Laurie reminds Travis how much fun Halloween is.

Terriers | 10pm on FX
“Agua Caliente”
Hank and Britt both work with their ex-partners to make it out of some hot water south of the border. [GMMR: Are you guys watching this show? Everyone who’s seen it says they love it, but apparently very few of you have found it.]

The Whole Truth | 10pm on ABC
“When Cougars Attack”

For the second time in three years, a renowned 45-year-old fashion designer (played by Anabella Sciorra) is accused of murdering a much younger male model boyfriend. Her murder trial is a rematch — pitting Jimmy Brogan against Terrence “Edge” Edgecomb for the second time. The last time, Jimmy won an acquittal. Edge is determined not to let that happen again.

The Defenders | 10pm on CBS
“Nevada v. Rodgers”
When a man is killed and an off-duty cop is left wounded in a bar shooting, Nick must prove reasonable doubt in his client’s charge for attempted murder. Meanwhile, Pete tries to cut a deal for man caught with stolen Elvis memorabilia.

Top Chef: Just Desserts | 10pm on Bravo
“Dessert Wars”
The Classical Restaurant Wars of Top Chef turns into a Dessert Shop War in this episode. Divided into two teams the six remaining chefs are trying to please their guests and the judges.
