Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, November 28, 2010

November 28, 2010 by

Hope my fellow Americans had a nice holiday filled with family, food, friends and a lot of shopping.  Did you make out on any Black Friday TV deals?  I’m happy to report that I limited my personal purchases to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES season 1 on DVD.  Amazon had it for $12 so I couldn’t pass it up.

Here are a few highlights from tonight’s TV lineup. A fair amount of shows are in re-run mode, but there are some original episodes and movies to check out tonight. As always, I’ll ask…what are YOU watching?

The Simpsons | 8pm on Fox
“How Munched is that Birdie in the Window?”
Bart nurses a wounded pigeon back to health, but Santa’s Little Helper has other plans; Homer enters it in a race. Danica Patrick and Rachel Weisz have voice cameos.

The Amazing Race | 8pm on CBS
“I Hate Chinese Food”
Contestants become violently ill during a challenge in Hong Kong; a contestant threatens to quit the competition. [GMMR: I need to make sure TAR records properly tonight. Despite setting the DVR to run late, I keep missing the ending. Anyone else as frustrated as I am?]

Dexter | 9pm on Showtime
“Hello Bandit”
On the heels of Rita’s murder, Dexter tries to get the family back into a familiar routine, but a frightening discovery may lead to his next quarry. Meanwhile, a brutal murder in a Venezuelan neighborhood has the squad scrambling; and Debra, who’s opened her home to Dexter and the children, finds herself without adequate accommodations, and turns to Quinn for help.

Boardwalk Empire | 9pm on HBO
“Paris Green”
Nucky’s fear of the consequences of an impending electoral disaster forces him to make changes in the administrative pecking order. Meanwhile, Jimmy is ambivalent about the health of an ailing family member; Van Alden questions Sebso’s commitment to their calling.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta| 10pm on Bravo
“NeNe Get Your Gun”
Phaedra brings her new baby home. In other motherhood developments, Kim struggles with her daughter’s curious queries about sex. Meanwhile, Kandi revamps a song to make it more suitable for Kim; Cynthia arranges her dream wedding; and NeNe’s hardship in her marriage nears the breaking point

The Walking Dead | 10pm on AMC
“Wildfire”
After a zombie attack, Rick and the group set off for the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, and Jim must face a life-or-death decision. [GMMR: We don’t cover The Walking Dead on GMMR, but if you are a fan, be sure to check out The TV Talk Podcast for our lively (ha…get it) discussion.]

Also playing…

  • The Cleveland Show | 8:30pm on Fox: Cleveland is upset when Donna’s bossy sister (Niecy Nash) and her unruly children visit for Thanksgiving.
  • November Christmas | 9pm on CBS: A community works together to help a couple bring an early Christmas to their sick 8-year-old daughter. Starring Sam Elliott, John Corbett, Karen Allen, Sarah Paulson, Emily Alyn Lind
  • American Dad | 9:30am on Fox: Stan invites his half-brother, Rusty (Lou Diamond Phillips), over for Thanksgiving, then gets upset when he learns how wealthy Rusty is.
  • Undercover Boss | 10pm on CBS: Great Wolf Resorts CEO Kim Schaefer trades her suit for a lifeguard’s uniform and struggles to keep up the pace while working in an indoor waterpark that can accommodate nearly 3,000 guests.

I got Mad Men seasons 1-3 for 10 bucks each. I haven’t ever actually seen Mad Men, but it’s in my Netflix queue so I was going to watch it eventually. And tonight, it’s all about The Walking Dead for me! I am so into that show right now and it depresses me that next week is the finale.

For the Amazing Race, I record the undercover boss as well, since it seems to run into that.
