Greg Garcia and Shannon Woodward Talk RAISING HOPE’s Renewal

January 11, 2011 by

Fox has picked up a second season of RAISING HOPE.

“RAISING HOPE has emerged as a comedic standout: wickedly smart, hilarious and full of heart,” network president Kevin Reilly said in a statement. “Greg Garcia and his great cast have established an appointment show on Tuesday nights this season and we’re confident it’s just the beginning of great things to come.”

When series star Shannon Woodward (Sabrina) heard RAISING HOPE was called “appointment” viewing, she laughed.

“It’s exciting,” she said. “We’re really glad people are accepting the show into their scheduling.”

I caught up with series creator Greg Garcia early this morning and he was understandably upbeat about the early renewal.

“We feel good,” Garcia told me. “I mean, we’ve got to first figure out what the hell we’re going to do for the rest of this season, but it’s good. You’re real happy for the crew and the cast and everybody who’s been working really hard. There’s a little bit of you that feels like you’re in mile 20 of a marathon and someone stops you and says, ‘Hey, when you get up there, grab an orange slice and turn around and go back.’ [Laughs] But we’re going to enjoy the news and then get to work!”

Are you happy RAISING HOPE will return next season?

If I’ve never seen it, is it worth catching up on? I’m hearing good things about The Middle, too, but haven’t gotten into that one either

YAY! This is fantastic news, as Raising Hope is definitely my favourite new show of 2010. It’s hilarious! I also love its Tuesday night pair of Running Wilde, but I fear news for that series will not be as favourable…

This is my favorite show. I told my best friend about it and she has literally made everyone she knows sit and watch episodes with her. This show is outstanding.

I would be surprised if there wasn’t a second season. This show is just hilarious and heart-warming. I’m not usually good at keeping up with shows, but I’ve done quite well with Raising Hope.

Very happy about this. So well deserved. Brilliant show. Glad I can call myself a fan. Now I just need the rest of this season. I can’t take re-runs much longer.

Best comedy on TV. Burt is the star of a great set of characters. My wife said that someone must be watching me and eavesdropping on my conversations because Burt says a lot of the same crap that I do.

Brilliant show and can’t wait for Season Two. About time we had a decent comedy on tele instead of the continual reality rubbish.
