Thirteen Returns to HOUSE: You Ask, I Answer

April 7, 2011 by

Olivia Wilde makes her long-awaited return to HOUSE this Monday, April 11th, under very unusual circumstances. After leaving Princeton Plainsboro so suddenly, many fans speculated that Dr. Remy Hadley, better known as Thirteen, had disappeared to seek experimental treatment for Huntington’s Disease. Other longtime viewers expected Thirteen to reappear with a baby bump.

Judging by this preview clip for “The Dig,” at least one of those possibilities can be ruled out:

I was lucky enough to see “The Dig” before it airs, so there are plenty more clues about what to expect if you keep reading…

Is Thirteen’s return all hype, or is it actually a good episode?
I am pleased to report that “The Dig” is a strong episode, with two compelling story arcs involving Thirteen’s journey and the mystery patient. Big questions are answered, and new adventures begin for the entire Diagnostics Department.

Does House communicate with his team? If so, do they know Thirteen is with him?
House is never more than a phone call away, so he is kept in the loop on the patient of the week. I think the FOX spoiler police would be comfortable with me answering the second question this way: Thirteen asks House to keep her reappearance a secret, and he does not violate her trust.

Do we find out why Thirteen was in jail?
House knows what Thirteen was convicted of, but the bigger question is, “What did she do?” Both questions are answered in this hour, and Olivia Wilde does a fantastic job of revealing the consequences of those actions on Thirteen’s day-to-day life.

What about the rest of the team? Are they afterthoughts or important to the episode?
Though the promos for this episode are Wilde-centric, you will see Foreman try and uncover the secret behind Taub’s unusually high success rate with women. Foreman’s investigation uncovers Taub’s latest conquest, whose identity will be VERY surprising!

Any other tidbits? Why else should we tune in?
House takes a little detour on his road trip with Thirteen, to compete in a potato spud gun competition. If you miss seeing Hugh Laurie at his comedic best, this story is for you!

Tune in Monday, April 11th at 8pm EST/7pm CST to see Olivia Wilde return to the cast of HOUSE.

I don’t like 13 and never have done, so having her at the centre of an episode doesn’t fill me with much hope that I will enjoy this episode.
