BONES: John Francis Daley Teases ‘The Truth in the Myth’

April 14, 2011 by

Thursday night’s brand new episode of BONES is a very special episode — series star John Francis Daley (Sweets) cowrote the hour!

Last month, BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan gushed to Give Me My Remote that “The Truth in the Myth” was “terrific” and it “came out really well.” Michaela Conlin (Angela) echoed the compliments, calling the hour “great” and promised it was a lot of fun.

But what about the man behind the episode? What does he have to say about “The Truth in the Myth”?

I caught up with Daley at PaleyFest last month and he teased what fans can expect…

Ahh, poor Sweets- everyone’s scapegoat for how far the show has fallen. I don’t blame you!
That said, if JFD has joined in the writing, and the episode continues its downward spiral with Brennan-bot, holier-than-thou Booth, and Pysch Cliches 101 Sweets, JFD is becoming part of the problem and he’ll get no love from me.

It’s pretty amazing how well Michaela Conlin is able to separate herself from the mess and not playing games with the fanbase. The Bones team needs PR lessons from her.

I still watch — and am ready to enjoy, not bash — this show.
I’m interested in seeing how JFD handled a script; he is an amazingly talented guy. Looking forward to a good episode and a good time.
    Happy Bones Day!

I watched the sneak peeks and this episode seems to be just as bad and out of touch as the rest of the season.

“Do you even own a TV?”
    “It’s in the closet.”

OMG. The Bones not owning a TV thing has been an ongoing thing since Season 1 and Booth KNOWS she doesn’t own a TV! Why is he asking like this is something he doesn’t know and why is she saying she does when we already know she doesn’t even LIKE television?!

Please tell the aliens to return the REAL Booth and Bones to us and take their poorly done clones back!

Saw this article and some clips on Hulu and not all that enticed. It all depends on the Office.

    BUT, if TPTB are checking,
    1. I agree with the general outcry for the awkward but sophisticated kickass anthropologist from earlier seasons. And grow out the bangs.
    2. I don’t care what you do with Booth, he’s always been the “what men think women want” character anyway. Get DB a facial or something- dude looks rough.
    3. Can we get see some interns as something other than punchlines or disposable plot devices? Actually, can we stop using Brennan as a punchline too? Especially if you’re recycling punchlines from season 1 like the tv line?

booth knows she never watches televison/hopes this is not them forgetting that or hurting her with social skills. the clips of the car ride is too much talk.

The whole Yeti thing was beyond cute, beyond dumb. Booth/the show has completely given up on thinking at a FBI agent level, or even at any kind of semi-intelligent adult level. All heart and no brains makes Booth a dull boy indeed.

I enjoyed The Truth in the Myth. It was well done and Bones is back. What happened since the Valentine episode when Brennan & Booth were shoothing the Tommy guns it seemed like everyone was writing how great it was to finally see some B&B moments. Now its nothing but complaints. I like the B&B moments and can’t wait for more. I’ll stick with Bones its a great show.

I was patient through the first half of the season. I didn’t complain, though everyone was free to b*tch and moan as much as they liked.

Might be unpopular opinion, but the first half of the season was better, at least there was hope for payoff. But now that I realize there’s no payoff and they’re going to continue with the pathetic Bones and perfect Booth ideas, not address Hannah, and turn the characters into jokes, I am pretty mad at the show. I deserve better for being patient.

They are treating fans like goldfish with 8 second memories.
Like the obligatory BB scene at the end should just shut up all the criticism.

  11. m'kenzie on April 15th, 2011 12:43 am

Oh, I totally disagree with the above poster. The Valentines Day gun scene was when I started getting mad at the show because they were trying to get back to BB as if Hannah never happened. There- the BB scenes are back, so everyone who complained about Hannah, shut up about BB.

They have to deal with Hannah and the way Booth completely changed his personality and beliefs over her. Brennan needs to grow a set (in the words of the wonderful Dr. Gordon Gordon Wyatt) and confront Booth about how his behavior with and since Hannah has been completely opposite of all of the things he’s been trying to “teach” her since they started working together.

I understand why Brennan is somewhat closed off – she’s dealing with a lot of emotional pain. We first saw it when she identified her mother’s remains, but it wasn’t that bad, and she had the support of her friends at that time. This time, she tried to be friends with the source of the pain, when she should have had more girl time with Angela and Cam, and left Hannah alone. Even Daisy would have been a better option, annoying as she is. They had to have forged some sort of bond during the 7 months they were in Maluku!

I really miss the Angela & Brennan girl talk scenes. Sure, Angela is pregnant, but even she has to see that there is a huge problem with Brennan right now. I remember reading early on that Angela was going to do some recon on Hannah ala what she did in S1 with Tessa, and I was looking forward to that. Sadly, that never panned out, but it would have been very interesting.
